Mr. Key defended me on a charge of domestic violence a few years ago. It played out exactly like he said it would. The girl I was dating at the time assaulted me and all I did was defend myself. Because she and I broke up, she wouldn't let it go and the prosecutor wouldn't let it go. Mr. Key predicted this at our first meeting. We had a lot of good evidence, including pictures of my injuries. The police had never seen them, because I left before they arrived. I had no idea until I was at the airport back in my hometown. Mr. Key explained that we were going to end up in a trial on this no matter what, and there was no point in letting the prosecutor know what we had. My case started out as a felony, and the first thing the prosecutor did was dismiss that and refile it as a misdemeanor. This was done on the eve of trial for the felony. We went to trial on the misdemeanor, and I've never seen anything like it. The cop on the witness stand claimed that he didn't remember that my girlfriend was drunk. My favorite moment in the trial is when Mr. Key asked him if he recognized the sound of his own voice. Mr. Key played for him the recording of him telling his partner, "She's all drunk, and they got into it after an argument." He tore apart every single witness they put on the stand, including her. The jury was out less than 10 minutes before they came back with a not guilty verdict. Best day of my life. Mr. Key did the expungement for me, and now there's no record of this anywhere. I am forever grateful. read more
