I wanted a lawyer who was a woman, intelligent, direct, and not too emotional. I did not need hugs, I needed a divorce. I interviewed several attorneys to represent me. Some were nice but weak, some were rage-filled and vengeful towards the spouse, and others made me wonder what some law schools are doing with their curriculum. Alex was nothing like other lawyers. Granted, she had completed law school and undergraduate studies like everyone else I had interviewed, but she was not interested in boasting about her accomplishments (which are impressive and lengthy). As I spoke to Alex, I realized that this was the lawyer who checked all of the boxes I required and many more. She did not approach the conversation like we were part of the 300 fighting off the Persians; instead, Alex respected the fact that I wanted to keep the experience as amicable as possible.
