I gave Scott Palmer $30,000 to represent my grandson, Charlie. That was before he assaulted me. Scott assured me that he would not represent Charlie in the assault case but he went back on his word. He said who else would represent him. I am certain that in Dallas there are public defenders. In fact Charlie had one before I hired Scott! Not only did he go back on his word, now planning to take the money I paid him to defend my grandson against a charge of assaulting me, but he is trying to maneuver the case into the Mental Health and Restorative Justice Division so that Charlie would enter a mental health program rather than face prosecution and a possible prison sentence for elder abuse! This mental health program provides NO counseling, only requires that he take medication (not sure how they verify that) and meet once a month with 2 different individuals! I consider this a mere slap on the wrist and have told the DA that I oppose it. Charlie knowns that he should take medication and if he doesn't, he is responsible for his actions. He not only assaulted me, but he also put bleach on some of my clothes, cut up others, cut up my passport, cut up pictures of my late son, stole my jewelry worth in excess of $200,000, put my phone and IPad in the toilet! Scott has done nothing to help me get my jewelry back. He even paid the bond to get Charlie out of jail. I am afraid of Charlie. He once brandished a knife at me and was almost shot by the cops. I have written to Scott but he doesn't respond. When you retain an attorney for $30,000, you expect them to respond to you at the very least! I don't consider him a man of his word and I don't think he has treated me fairly at all. I regret ever hiring him and would never recommend him to anyone! He has done nothing to encourage Charlie to do the right thing and return my jewelry. I have done everything for Charlie and always been there for him. I asked Scott not to give Charlie any money as he will need it and his not having any money would give me leverage at getting my jewelry back. Evidently Scott has given him money and refuses to promise me that he won't give him anymore. I find Scott to be unethical and untrustworthy, not good traits for an attorney!
