Oh, how I wish I knew there was an upstairs dining area overlooking Vrijdagmarkt. However, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the front room next to a number of older locals chatting and enjoying their morning coffee and croissants. The food was very good and it was one of the many places where we had to adjust our American expectation of coffee (size, no refills, etc.) to the European norm.
We settled on Paul, because it was one of the few breakfast places in the core of the city that was open prior to 9:00a and we needed to get a jump on our day. Food and coffee were perfectly fine, but we found a better option a few blocks away the following day. read more
