Paul Davis Restoration is as dishonest as they come. My insurance approved a total of ten thousand and forty eight dollars to have my garage reconstructed and to repair the front face of the spout on my house from tornado and water damage. They ignored 90% of the construction work and over charged for sidings that was not needed. They did this so they could get a depreciation check for the siding. They can't get depreciation for lumber so they totally rewrote what my insurance adjuster suggested. I gave Paul Davis a down payment of five thousand to have the construction portion completed to my satisfaction and my insurance paid the remaining balance after the person in charge of the local office tricked me in signing the completion form. He sat right on my couch with a smile on his face and told me I would get money back because he was not able to finish but he said I had to sign the form so the funds could be released by my insurance. The local Paul Davis office refused to give me a refund after my insurance paid the remaining balance and he even tried to get me to open a new claim after panels were coming off. This was done to Paul Davis trying to cover up rotted wood. The local Paul Davis Office even tried to trick me in paying the remaining balance even after it was specified in the contract and through emails that my insurance was responsible for the remaining balance... not me. Also the local owner still tried to trick me to pay the remaining balance with my credit card before my insurance paid the remaining outrageous balance to Paul Davis Restoration. I had to pay out of my own pocket to have the construction work done properly. There were many things on the quote that was never done. You would think that the cooperate office would be concerned about having dishonest people representing The Paul Davis brand but they couldn't care less. They just sent me an email saying they are a separate legal entity from the local office. After doing my research... I have found that this sort of dishonesty is happening through most of Paul Davis offices Nation wide. read more

Worst experience ever. Avoid at all costs. Honestly there is not enough space or words to express everything that went wrong with our claim. I honestly wish I had fired Paul Davis from the start. The first sub-contractor they sent was horrible. The quality of their work was deplorable. I have pictures to document, but the painting was the worst I had ever seen. Honestly, a 5 year old could have done better. They attempted to clean the walls only to smear soot all over, and then proceeded to paint over it! No sealing, no primer, nothing. The soot stains came through immediately. The edges were not crisp, they left paint spray all over my floors, furniture, counters, etc. There were very visible roller marks all through every wall. It was totally unacceptable. The quality of their wood work was amateurish. Their angles did not match leaving gaping holes in our baseboards and door trim. They relocated fixtures to wherever they wanted. We now have a light in a closet that is clear to one side versus being in the middle as it was originally. It looks horrible. Every time I complained to Paul Davis I was fed nothing but lies. Everything they promised would happen - did not. They only fed me what they thought I wanted to hear and then did what they wanted and tried to cut every corner they could to profit for themselves. The 'cleaning' they did was a joke. Nobody took our home seriously. We had to have most things cleaned multiple times and still they were black. My wife ended up cleaning the soot off most of our home because even after multiple attempts to get it done right everything was still black. She deserves more of the insurance money than Paul David does. This was BY FAR the WORST contractor experience I have ever had in my life. I wish I had fired Paul Davis at the onset of this claim and now I just wanted them OUT of my home. Had I not wanted them gone so bad they would still be working to make things right. read more

My insurance company hired them after a fire. Worst company ever. Even my insurance company has apologized for them. The lack of communication is pretty much none. The work they do is horrible. This is a company used by Progressive Insurance for water damage, demolition, and repair. They did a good job on drying things out. Everything else was a pain. The demolition was not thorough in the kitchen. In the bathroom they ruined the corner of one wall and repaired it poorly. The repairs took 6 months with repeated cancellations and use of cheap repair materials. They also tried to do more repairs extending out into the hallway and bedrooms that were not needed. The flooring installer did such a poor job in the bathroom it had to be redone. I was told the entire kitchen would be repainted and it wasn't. Workmen often popped in for an hour and then left. I know construction work has timing that requires multiple pauses for drying and curing. But knowing the job to be done, but coming without the tools and materials needed was wasteful of their time and mine. They didn't even bother to tell me several times when they didn't come when they said they would. I would avoid use of this company for anything except a dry out, and that's even a maybe. If Progressive tries to stick you with this company, insist on someone else. If you live in the Columbus OH, I would ask for 614 Property Maintence. They come when they say they will, stay on budget, and get the job done when they say they will barring an unforeseen problem. The quality of their work is excellent. read more

Our basement was flooded due to a nearby tornado and we were assigned Paul Davis through my insurance company as our contractor for the mitigation. Paul Davis company came one day after I called them. They were at our house every single day, weekends included until our basement was completely dried out and ready for renovation. I can't say enough great things about how amazing these people were who came to our rescue. After reading the other comments, I can't believe they are for the same place that we used. My kitchen was flooded and we were assigned Paul Davis through my insurance company as our contractor for the restoration. Paul Davis first came in early in March 2021 to do initial walkthrough and my kitchen is no closer to being done now in September 2021 when I fired them than it was over 6 months ago. Below are the list of issues we had deal with working for this company: -In late March we were told they are waiting on approval for a supplement to the initial claim. After a month and a half of little communication I call insurance and they say they haven't received a supplement request and assumed work had been done and closed my claim. I am directed to Contractor Connection who assigned Paul Davis, who informs me Paul Davis is only sending them notes but no formal requests for a supplement. When I inform Paul Davis that essentially they aren't doing a supplement request right they put the blame back on CC. -Curiously enough a week after I called the supplement I receive a payment from insurance with no communication as to why. I assume this is the supplement request having been approved and inform Paul Davis. They let me know they did submit the supplement but hadn't received official approval from insurance. Paul Davis tells me they will need to wait for this official approval before starting work. Two months go by with little communication or call backs when I reach out. Insurance didn't pay me for no reason so this had to of been approved. I call insurance who lets me know they emailed approval same day it was paid back in May. I tell Paul Davis this and they then find the approval from 2 months prior. -Work finally seems to be in motion as we are sent to pick out cabinets, counters, etc in July. After we make our choices Paul Davis again disappears for a month. Calls go unanswered with no return phone calls. We finally hear back with little explanation as to why work had not been started. Paul Davis asks to meet the following week through email to go over project details, which I agree to and tell them the day that works best. I don't hear back for 2 weeks so this meeting they requested never occurred. -After multiple calls trying to figure what is going on I finally receive an answer from the project manager in early September. He informs me he left Paul Davis but someone should of contacted me weeks ago to let me know. I call the main office who informs me they will have the new project manager get a hold of me ASAP. A week and a half passes with no word. -I call again to let them know I am canceling the project and finding a new contractor, which at this time I finally receive a call back from the new project manager. He lets me know he was left with little to no information on my project and we would need to start from scratch. I let him know I called to cancel with them anyway, and the fact that I would have to start all over made it a much easier decision. He let's me know they are in complete disarray at the moment having to fire employees and hire new ones because they have had issues with communication company wide. He does not try and dissuade me and actually seems relieved I am canceling with him having over 30 projects on his plate that are all a mess (his words). In summary my experience with Paul Davis was littered with poor communication, unnecessary and unexplained delays, incompetence in dealing with insurance and their partners (important detail if you work in home restoration), and a complete lack of interest or understanding in the fact that we have had to live without a kitchen for 6 months while working with them (over 9 total as it went through water damage clean-up and insurance). If insurance assigns you Paul Davis request a new contractor or you might not ever get your home restored. read more

We've been dealing with them for over a year. Lots of delays and issues. Two months after installation of our flooring we reported gaps throughout the floor. For the last 8 months we have not been able to get the floor fixed, no calls back, no response. It's awful! Do not let them out you through the horrible experience we've had! This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with regarding construction. My entire house burnt down, and Paul Davis was hired to repair and rebuild. I literally caught the thief Adam W, the owner, cooking the books. This fool was caught in an Insurance Fraud scandal by me, the home owner and then the Insurance company's third party company names Innovation Properties (these folks are also rip off artists). This Adam goof is so unprofessional and inexperienced within the construction industry as his former employment was guess what, insurance claims! 36 reiterations of the insurance policy as Adam was getting caught red handed every time he tried to fictitiously create charges that were baseless and just sucking money out of the rebuild kitty. It took years to rebuild the house and this Adam W hired Craigslist, non vetted inept contractors, that kept doing half professional jobs that looked horrible until finally, I kicked all of these losers off of the rebuild and finished the rebuild myself with the remaining money (over 125k). Adam W is either a clown in a shark suit or a shark in a clown suit, but either way, this company will rip you off as they are franchises and can easily be bought by ignorant and foolish people like Adam W. I even called the corporate offices of Paul Davis to voice my concerns and they didn't want anything to do with the topic of Insurance Fraud and they literally told me these are franchises and issues are not their concerns, and I need to seek help from somewhere else! So the franchises corporate entity doesn't care about their paying customers when they escalate, nor does the owner of the franchise of Paul Davis. Similarly, Paul Davis doesn't care about anything but profit. Adam only cares about money, as he and his wife also own the Cross-Fit gym in Marysville, although he doesn't look like it! A house burning down is a tragic event, and then to pile on more grief from fools like Adam W and the corporate entity Paul Davis Restorations unethical behaviors just adds to the grief. WARNING: Don't hire this company if you care about the quality of your rebuild from a once in a lifetime event, as you will suffer from the unprofessionalism, lack of experience, lack of caring about their customers and most importantly you will be stuck with a poorly rebuilt home. read more

My Son's house burnt in January of this year. PD was hired not long after that with a promise they would be back in the home in 6 -7 months. It took weeks to get this company to even board up the burnt out garage. Then nothing...for 5 months.. Finally they had a guy come and demo it. One week, the house was a total mess. They ordered the truss's wrong and they have been sitting in the yard for a month. Didn't bother to reorder for 3 weeks, so now it is 6 weeks before new truss's come in. Make promises and don't keep them, Say someone will be there and they don't show up, hire bottom wrung people who don't have a clue.
