Paul Moyer in Jamison picked up my Ariens snowblower for service on February 19. I was supposed to get a call a few days later with the estimated cost of the repair, but the call never came. I started calling, and the answer was always the same - we will call you in a few days. Weeks went by and I continued to call unsuccessfully. By the end of April, I started going to Moyer in person with no resolution. Finally, on May 2nd my snowblower was fixed and returned to me - more than 10 weeks later! Their service merits ZERO stars, but one star is the minimum. read more

I made an order through their website and I had to send it back. they received the package and I waited almost 2 weeks and still no refund for said order. I had to open a PayPal case. after another week I had to escalate the case through Paypal because of no response from the seller. PayPal eventually decided in my favor and refunded me the money after receiving no response from the seller. never again. customer service is non existent. read more

I've lived in Jamison, PA for the last 38 years and had been using Star Lawnmower Service for our lawnmower care for many of those years and had been extremely satisfied. However, after the sale of Star to Paul B Moyer & Sons last year things have changed as we recently found out. At end of 2022 we brought our lawnmower to Moyer for winter service as we had done for many years with Star. We were told it would take several weeks, which we were fine with. In January of this year, 2023 we got a call from them stating that the mower needs a new carburetor and gave us a price which we agreed to. After a few days we picked up the mower. In late April we started to use the mover and it ran fine. We also began to used gasoline treatment in the gas as recommended by Moyer. During our last mowing a few weeks ago the mower started to stall so I dropped it off at Moyer's location in Jamison to have it looked at. After a few days I got a call from them stating that they had checked the mower and that it needed a new carburetor, but I challenged them saying that they just replaced the carburetor in January. The person on the phone was polite but said that it was probably the gas we used and asked if we got gas from Wawa. I said that we purchase gas from various places including Wawa, so he insisted that the issue was caused by the gas. I felt hostage at the point since they had my mower, so I told him to repair it but that I wanted to see the carburetor when I picked up the mower. I got a call from them late last Friday (10/20) that the mower was done and that I could pick it up so on Monday I drove to the Jamison store to get it. However, when I got there, they said the mower wasn't there but was at their Doylestown store. They did offer to have the mower shipped to Jamison, but I was anxious to get the mower, so I drove over to Doylestown. When I got there, I gave them my name to pick up the mower but reiterated that I also wanted the old carburetor since I was suspicious that there might not have been anything wrong with it. At which time another person came to the counter to talk to me who I assumed was a manager and he handed me a plastic bag with the old carburetor in it. I opened the bag to inspect the carburetor expecting to see a lot of gunk inside, but the carburetor looked brand new on the inside with only some dirt still on the outside. All the valves appeared to work fine so I ask how they knew it was defective and the manager told me he didn't know but sternly insisted that they were not in the business of charging customers for something that wasn't needed and asserted that I was merely making assumptions that the part was good. I was very upset by this time and asked him to just give me the bill and I would pay for it but that it wasn't likely that I would do business with them anymore. I also said that I was going to have the carburetor examined by another mechanic just to satisfy by suspicion. He then arrogantly challenged me on what I would do if I found out the carburetor was bad. I said that if I did that I would come back to the store and apologize but that if I found out it was good then I would write a negative review to warn others of either their incompetence or unethical business practices. Well, I took the carburetor to another mechanic today. After taking it apart to inspect the internal air and fuel intakes along with the choke valve and other moving parts he determined that the carburetor looked fine to him and to keep it to use if I ever needed a new one again. It is my belief now that Moyer and Sons unethically charged me for a new part that I did not need, and I suspect they do this to other customers. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY as THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! Their attitude towards customer service is also questionable as not once did I ever hear words like "I am sorry you feel this way" or "I understand why you might feel this way but... ". Not to mention they called to tell me the mower was ready for pickup yet neglected to tell me that it wasn't at the location that I dropped it off at. As I read from another reviewer... "This is a family business gone bad. When you walk in, don't count on friendly service--hell, you're lucky if you get service at all." read more

I needed a belt for my mower, they said it would take 5-6 working days, so I decided to get one at the local shop when I got back in town. The price was a great price compared to the price from the local shop that i ordered the 2 pack from Moyer, by the time i got back into town my belts were here. I was thrilled with the speed, expertise and customer service I received yesterday at Paul B Moyer. My Craftsman (rebranded Husqvarna) mower broke two days ago. I could have fixed it, but I was sick of it and wanted to buy a new, good quality, long lasting mower. Home Depot and Lowes only carry low-powered models that don't have the features I wanted. At Moyer, a fellow named Jake took the time to explain to my son and me the important features of a mower as well as a comparison of quality levels of various brands. We bought a Honda, and it's FANTASTIC. It's a beast. Sure, during this pandemic period, we did pay a premium price. But darn it I'm old enough that I don't want to mess with mediocre quality mowers anymore. I'm really glad I bought the Honda and I'm thrilled with the customer service I experienced during the sale. I would like to be able to rate Powered by Moyer zero stars. I purchased an air filter through my Amazon Prime account. Shipping took a little longer than I was accustomed to through Amazon because the fulfillment was done by the seller not by Amazon. Because of poor packaging the filter arrived crushed and unusable. Amazon's return procedure was flawless and I printed the Amazon label to return the damaged piece. I deposited the return package immediately and it showed up automatically in Amazon's return system. The replacement didn't show up as being shipped until after the return was completed and the return was received by the seller 2 days later. The seller created the shipping label but didn't enter the package for 7 days, as is shown by the USPS tracking site. Terrible customer service. read more

Once an excellent company, but the last few years planned ahead tuneup ran from weeks to months and unable to fix the problems. My last service, I paid for pickup and delivery only to send it back 3 times only to be charged again for another pick and delivery. My riding mower is still not working. I'm another victim of the "Powered by Moyer" shop on Amazon. I bought a riding mower drive belt from their store, and put it on the shelf for future use. It was the correct part number. When I installed it, I discovered that it was too narrow and too long, resulting in the mower drive not working. I emailed to let them know the product was defective. They were not interested. I called the store and the person I spoke with told me straight out that the part I had bought was cheap c%$# with a high defect rate, and that Paul Moyer & Sons knew it was cheap c%$# with a high defect rate, but they sold a lot of them, so they would continue selling them. I lost my purchase price plus an hour of work rolling around under the mower replacing the belt with a good one. For as long as I have owned my Cub Cadet Zero Turn Mower, which I bought at Paul B Moyer more then 10 years ago, I have had them service the mower every year. Every year the price was relatively the same. Last year, when it was serviced, the price had gone up nearly 100.00 from previous years. When I called to inquire about the increase, I was told they had determined they were much lower then other services in the area, and raised it accordingly. Now as a consumer, I did not receive anything additional then I had been paying for the previous 10+ years, they just pocketed an additional 100.00. Even after this occurred, I still went back to them this year for service. I contacted them on March 18. They came on the 24th and took the mower. Today I reached out to get a status of my mower. A gentleman named Bob answered the call. He told me the mower was not even in for service, and as he has told everyone since February, it would be 4 to 6 weeks. I told him I was not told a 4 to 6 week timeframe when I made the appointment. I said if I had, I would never have made the appointment. The reply through me for a loop. Bob insisted I was presented this information. I was floored by the statement. Here I am the customer, who last year paid a 30% plus increase in services, just because that is what other people in the area charge, being told my recollection is not correct. Yet, when I then said I want my mower returned immediately, I was told it would be returned it wound be returned by tomorrow. For someone who insisted he was right and I was wrong, Bob made quick work of getting me out of there. As a business owner, I could never imagine myself or any representative of our company treating a customer in the manner that I was just treated. Besides having bought the mower from them, and having paid yearly for service, I was basically just told I was a liar, and your business means nothing to me. I guess when it is a family owned and run business, several generations in don't know the meaning of customer service and loyalty. I will never take my business to this company again. I will make sure to tell my friends and neighbors of my experience. If you look at the reviews on this page, there is a pattern that would mean the end to most business. 1-2 star ratings are the norm. Paul B. Moyer is my go to place for getting my lawn mower and other man toys repaired. They are quick and reasonably priced. I had a cursed Toro lawn mower that consistently would not start. I took it to Moyer's and they were able to fix it for me. They have a great selection of both new and used power tools including top of the line chain saws. After my most recent experience where they fixed my lawn mower for free, I highly recommend Paul B. Moyer and Sons for the weekend DIY worker or for commercial construction, carpentry and lawn care workers. read more

I ordered a part using Amazon's Model # and part name search. Moyer had what I thought I needed. The part was the wrong one so i called Moyer directly and a very friendly, helpful man told me the proper number, but he was out of them. I then needed a new gas tank for my Poulan Pro string trimmer. I called Moyer and the man who answered not only gave me the right part # but said he had 125 of them. I ordered it on powered_by_moyer and received it 3 days later. It was $3.00 to $6.00 cheaper than any other one I found including shipping. I wish I could give 6 STARS. read more

I wish I read the ratings here before patronizing their store. Every one star rating (and there are many) is absolutely true. I purchased a carburetor at "literally" 10 times the price of another store. After realizing this, I attempted to return it within one hour of my purchase. They refused. I was told, "You don't buy much from us. We don't need your business." Sounds unbelievable; I know. I was shocked to say the least. How a business is able to treat their customers this way and still stay in business is beyond me. I have to imagine that this type of treatment of its customers will eventually catch up to them. I purchased through Amazon two chains for my chainsaw. Was sent the wrong ones. Asked for RA to get the correct ones. They said no way would they sent me a return authorization because that is what I had ordered, which was not correct. Cost me $14 to send it back across country. When it was received and Amazon had said the case was closed I looked at my credit card only to discover the order had not been refunded back to me. I called to find out what the problem was, and they said it had not been refunded yet because they needed to make sure it had not been used. When I asked them to go look so that this could be finally resolved I was told "to go shove it up my ass". Called back and talked with the owner who did apologized. Purchased from the online Amazon store that goes by Power By Moyer. The part was a cheap knock off that was not even the same size as the Kohler part it claimed to be. All of the online info was misleading so I asked for a return. After many emails with them asking me for the same info over and over, and I responded with the info they asked, they basically told me they refused to return the parts and it was probably my fault. Called them, they diagnosed the problem over the phone, had the part in stock, and I was up and running within an hour of my phone call. After finishing the lawn I did a google search on the part I purchased and the price I paid was inline with the prices I saw online. I don't know what has happened over there. It used to be an excellent place to go to in order to get "guy" stuff like repair parts for your tractor and outdoor power equipment. I was over there today and was tossed out of the store because I objected to the price gouging for something I wanted to buy. I wanted to buy some cord that you use on a pull starter. I didn't recognize any of the people who are working there now. Some sales guy took a full 10 minutes, not kidding, to decide he was going to charge me a dollar a foot for this type of rope while he pecked away at the computer. I said "no way". So the surly prick told me if I didn't want to pay this price, then he wouldn't sell me any. Could not have been more arrogant. My suggestion: go further up Rt 611 to the far north end of Doylestown and go to Eagle Equipment. Much nicer and more accommodating. PS - got my rope for 1/3 the price Moyer wanted to gouge me. Also, Eagle had what I needed when Moyer didn't. I don't know what happened to the "old guys" who worked there and did a pretty good job with customer service. They are gone, and so am I. read more

I was disappointed with Moyer. Called them in March 2018 to see if they can tune my Toro Timemaster 30" walk behind mower for the cutting season. They said yes but told me they are not authorized to perform warranty service. I was not concerned because my mower is now out of Toro warranty. Make sense? So I dropped it off. After a long delay I found out that they were unwilling to order a needed belt. They told me "they can't order through a Toro distributor because they are not authorized, however, I could order the belt myself on Amazon and bring it in". I ordered the belt, delivered it in 3 days to Moyer and they completed the work. I have no complaint about the cost or the work, but I'm very annoyed that I had to call Moyer to figure out what was going on and that I had to provide the part. Shouldn't I expect them to handle the parts ordering if they tell me they can service my mower? read more

I stopped in to Paul B Moyer & Son to have the pull cord on my Weedeater Power Edger replaced. The guy at the service deck insisted that the repair cost would be too great and pushed me to invest the cash in new $300+ dollar edger. His rationale was the time it would take to disassemble the edger to get to the pull cord spring was extensive and the cost of the repair time would outweigh the cost of the machine.. I went online and found a youtube video. Apparently removing 3 screws and nut to get to the spring assembly is to challenging for this authorized Weedeater repair center. Maybe if the guy at the service center looked to help me instead of trying to sell me something I did'nt need he could of sold me the new lawn tractor I am buying tomorrow Of course this will take to much time for me to bother with Paul B Moyer and Son and I will go somewhere else. read more

I have no complaints over many years of sales and service by Moyer. This winter, when we had a long power outage, my generator stopped working. Moyer sent a truck out in the snow to pick it up and delivered it back 2 hours later in perfect working condition. I'm very glad we have them in Doylestown! read more

Dropped a cut off saw and continued to call to see if it was done, I either could not get in touch with someone or when I did I always got an excuse why it was not fixed. over 6 months later I just took back my tool and was told the it is just trash and could not be repair. then I took it to Beardsley in Telford and they spent 1.5 hours on it and it runs great. just a gasket. never take anything here. this makes me think some of my other tools could have been repaired, but they always wanted me to buy another tool to replace the broken one.
