Last week I decided to look on Yelp to see who yelpers recommended and filled out the contact info for Dr. Miller. Literally 2 seconds later Dr. Miller himself called and we made an appointment for the following week. Impressive! Dr. Miller's office is conveniently located right of the highway and right next to Old Orchard mall for those who love to shop (a little too cold for an outdoor mall today IMO). There is plenty of parking out front and he's located on the 3rd floor. He was right on time for my appointment and appears to be a one man show right now since he's on the hunt for a new receptionist. Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be slowing him down. He took care of my foot issue (turned out to be a deep callous) and I wondered what took me so long to make the appointment. While i was there he also worked on a few other callouses, since he said he'd throw them in for free :). I also inquired about custom orthotics for my flat feet. He showed me some options and said he would check with my insurance to see how much they would cover. I plan to call back in a week and go down the orthotics route with him soon too. I asked what the #1 foot issue people come to him for and he mentioned an ingrown toe nail. My son had one recently that got better on his own, but glad we have someone to turn to if we run into a similar problem. He's good at what he does, very nice and fast. I was in and out of there within 20 minutes!

His front-desk person was friendly and efficient as she had been on the phone when I made my appointment. Dr. Miller was personable, thorough and attentive to my concerns. After a detailed examination, which included an assessment of the blood flow to my feet, he not only removed the calluses but also took care of other foot problems. The positive effect of his care was immediate. I highly recommend Dr. Miller to anyone in need of podiatric care.

Then things changed, more than the treatment David had been receiving for 2 years. The previous doctors took a wait and see what happens attitude. Dr Kalk immediately assessed the situation and began treatment that has solved the problem. Office visits are always friendly and helpful. The staff at his office is terrific. Knowledgeable and friendly. David has also recently had some skin cancer removed from his head leaving a large wound. Every time we have seen Dr Kalk, weekly since David's hospitalization, Dr Kalk inquires about the head wound and looks at it. The last time David was seen at the Northwestern Hospital dermatology surgery clinic, we were told to come back in three months. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Kalk except that I wish we would have found him 2.5 years ago. I sincerely doubt that David would have undergone the two years of trouble he had before meeting Dr Kalk, maybe not the 2 surgeries he had, and the 2 emergency hospitalizations for sepsis that almost killed David. Dr Jason Kalk, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

From the initial call with the receptionist Vicki who was very thorough polite attentive and knowledgeable the friendly receptionist who greeted me upon arrival and Dr Forni himself everyone really made me feel good about going to the Dr. This practice was night and day compared to other medical specialists I have been to lately. I'm so tired of going to physicians and getting five to ten minutes of a specialists time being treated rude and like the provider is doing me a favor. I can't tell you how often I've thought how can a person who has to be making 300k plus and is their own boss be so miserable . Dr Forni is not that type of Dr he spent over and hour thoroughly examining talking to and explaining things to me. He seems a genuinely happy down to earth professional with a wonderful personality. He explained my issue was more of an acute than chronic issue and that in light of the fact my insurance didn't cover orthotics he could construct something himself to provide relief. He did just that saving me a lot of $ and right away I felt a difference. I don't understand how he doesn't have pages of great reviews he is a real gem and I now know who I will go to for any foot or ankle issues.

Ask also how long it will take to get Rx footwear because that takes time too, longer processing time than others. Got my bill and their charges are much higher compared to other reputable doctors. Do your homework and ask those money questions prior to your appointment because they charge a lot more, the insurance only covers so much, then you are left with the difference. Do the research with other offices, it's so worth it. Lastly, call your insurance because the homework responsibility on what your insurance will cover is on YOU (even though many of us don't know exactly the specifics on what to cover prior to our appointment and what the doctor will professionally recommend we will need when we actually go in for our appointment) - the office sends a long letter out explaining this. Interesting, every other doctor/dentist I go to will ask for my insurance information so that his/her office will check on my benefits for me. I'm not an expert on medical billing, I'm the patient. Long waiting times, higher charges, and I have to do the work. Hmmm. Food for thought.
