My husband David has been suffering from severe foot problems for 2.5 years. We met Dr Jason Kalk about 5 months ago when David was hospitalized at St Francis Evanston with sepsis and MRSA. Then things changed, more than the treatment David had been receiving for 2 years. The previous doctors took a wait and see what happens attitude. Dr Kalk immediately assessed the situation and began treatment that has solved the problem. Office visits are always friendly and helpful. The staff at his office is terrific. Knowledgeable and friendly. David has also recently had some skin cancer removed from his head leaving a large wound. Every time we have seen Dr Kalk, weekly since David's hospitalization, Dr Kalk inquires about the head wound and looks at it. The last time David was seen at the Northwestern Hospital dermatology surgery clinic, we were told to come back in three months. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Kalk except that I wish we would have found him 2.5 years ago. I sincerely doubt that David would have undergone the two years of trouble he had before meeting Dr Kalk, maybe not the 2 surgeries he had, and the 2 emergency hospitalizations for sepsis that almost killed David. Worst office staff possible and nasty unreasonable office manager who refuses to allow disputes or medical treatment resulting in an amputation over an unpaid $550 bill they sent to collections for a procedure Dr insisted upon and Bcbs refused to pay. This review is for the way the office has handled my billing, xrays and medical records to date. Summary of my visit: I went to see Dr. Kalk for heel pain. He had recommended a boot ($700) that was big and bulky and also some uncovered services @$100 a session but had said that ultimately I will have to have surgery. From the time I went in, I felt the whole office was trying to up sell me services that I didn't really need, like at a spa or mechanic. I went to see an orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion. He also wanted to put my foot in the boot but had said I needed rest and Physical Therapy, bc surgery should be last resort and since I was not elderly it didn't make sense. But before I went to see the second opinion, I went to get my medical records and Xrays it was challenging and overpriced. $15 for one piece of paper and $20 for Xrays on a CD? Okay so I paid for it, though I was not happy about it since we should have access to our medical records freely. Again I felt that they were pulling the old "nickel and dime the patients" for every dollar. The when my medical statement came, I was charged $400 for the visit. $400 post insurance adjustment mind you! One visit! I placed it on my HSA account and asked the office to charge it monthly for a set amount until paid off, which they gladly did. Today... I received a letter stating my bill will go to collections if I don't pay now in full. I know they have been deducting the amount because I can see it on my HSA account. I tried to call their mockery of a doctor office and guess what?? No answer. I know its the holiday season and all, but do not send a threatening letter without staff to address it when clients want to call in. I am very dissatisfied and will not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

I appreciated the care provided by the staff and their ability to always get me the appointment times I needed with little wait times. Came here for an ingrown toenail. My first visit was a consultation but the Dr. Marc Feder said he could perform the minor surgery right away. I decided to think about it so I booked a second visit. The Dr. drew out for me what the two different procedures would look like so it was very helpful to understand that. My next visit took only an hour. It was a minor surgery so I was very pleased to be taken care of so fast! The shots in my toe hurt like hell (can't remember how many times I said f**k) but afterwards I didn't feel anything. I was laying down which was probably for my own good. My toe was numb so I just entertained myself with the power points playing on the TV. Learned a lot from those. Anyways, everything was superb. My only issue is that my toe was super swollen and painful yet the Dr. thought it was okay to press on it! My second visit he stuck a stick in there which made me cringe in pain! Not cool at all. Pissed me off but he got the job done. He was also a little pushy on doing the procedures. Just give me a little time to decide! read more

As good as it gets, is perfect description of the care I received! Who can say that one of their best experience with an MD would be at a Podiatrist office? I would have not believed this to be possible until I visited A.P. LTD., and was cared for by Dr. J. Kalk and his staff. I left knowing what was the cause of the recent pain and unexplained "sensation" I had been feeling for the past few weeks. A plan of action was implemented to treat my ailment and I was given a therapy treatment (ultra sound) in the office the same day as this initial "consultation". I never expected to actually leave with a solution, but with an "it could be this or that". To sum up the great experience, Dr. J. This place is a total rip off. I had to pay more than $450 for custom inserts to help my plantar fascitis. They refused to go thru my insurance. Fine. My heals hurt more now than before I went to them!! I called to set an appointment to have these $450 inserts adjusted as I just purchased them. I have to pay another $180 for an adjustment!!!! What??? And I have to pay for the visit. This is the worst customer service ever. Well I am not going to give them another dime. They don't even stand behind their own prescription orthotics!!! I went to amazon and found a pair of arch supports for $9 that work beautifully. What a joke. These scammers should be out of business. Are there no ethical foot doctors anymore? DO NOT GO HERE. Omg came here after going to another run of mill podiatrist that dug into my foot cause I stepped on glass and I had a small shard that I thought was still left up there. He gave up and said to just leave it and wait for Body to push it out. I'm a medical professional so I can recognize this warning sign. I googled top podiatrists and came here to see dr feder he was off so I saw dr Kalk instead. I was so worried they couldn't find anything and just torture me but Kalk is a game changer! A life changer! A remove 5 tiny shards of glass from your foot-Er! Apparently They treat kids who step on all sorts of things I heard and parents trust him deeply. I'm so relieved. This pain in my foot is starting now to heal hah! No pun intended. Kalk wow! Just impressed so suave in his practice like you just feel right and know you're feet are in good hands I was googling other experiences with other doctors and there are horror stories out there of people who go to run of the mill podiatrists and urgent care centers w removal of foreign body In foot. Christy his PA is amazing as well very thorough and precise with her anesthetic technique. She's also very relaxed like she's done thousands of these procedures. Araceli is also very knowledgeable and thorough she did my intake and unlike others MAs or Nurses who do intake she can give you specific answers that are assuring. None of that "everyone is different" tag line... but very black and white we will take care of you and you'll be glad you came feel. They all know the podiatry practice very well Lily was the lady on the phone and she asked me the right questions to make me feel more secure that I was actually looking in the right direction and when I walked out of there I'd be okay. She actually was the one who sold me. I called other top yelp rated places but Lily was the only one like the rest of their staff who answered questions without even knowing the whole story that made me feel like she already knew what was going on. Was a little taken a back by the dated building but even that later you'll realize is affirming you walk back and it's a bunch of experts. Dr. Richey is awesome! I highly recommend this practice! 4 years ago I gave up running due to a metatarsal injury that caused too much pain. After seeing 2 different podiatrists, I thought that there was no hope for me ever running again. I was recommended by a coworker to try Dr. Feder's practice. I joked with Dr. Richey that he was my last hope, but really, that's what it felt like. I was completely surprised by the prognosis and treatment recommendations....and Dr. Richey's confidence that this injury doesn't mean the end of running for me. I have hope again and I can't wait to try out my new custom orthotics in a few weeks! Will update this review once I receive them. Disappointing. Not only did my orthotics not fit well, AP's offered solution was to charge me for an office visit and charge roughly half of what the orthotics cost me to "refurbish" their ill-fitting orthotics that I'd only worn for about four months. So, I was supposed to just keep paying for office visits and adjustments until they finally get it right? My last podiatrist got the right fit the FIRST time and I had used those orthotics for fifteen years no problem. Foot pain can ruin your day, and as it erodes exercise, even ruin your health. My little toe had rotated slightly under through bad footwear, and a bone that was meant to lie one way had shifted so that it was pressing against the skin from the inside. It hurt constantly. I had mentioned the pain several times to my previous podiatrist, who was sympathetic but seemed to think I must grin and bear it. But at this new practice, the doctor fitted my little toe with a simple latex sleeve and within hours the pain began to fade until it disappeared. Surgery would have been an option, a difficult one for a heart patient on blood thinners, but it wasn't necessary with the successful simpler solution. Also, Affiliated staff communicates really helpful information about shoe selection and fitting. I use the word communicates advisedly. They communicate well. They take an actual shoe and show you exactly what they mean. They analyze your present footwear as part of the information, and they invite you to bring in other shoes to analyze. It is completely important information to keep your feet healthy that upscale shoe stores ought to give you but don't. It's the kind of information that will keep an older person walking, and that boils down to keeping an older person alive. But that isn't the totality of this particular practice. It's just a very pleasant space. There are flowers everywhere--dahlias and lilies from the doc's garden, I was told when I inquired. There is a sense of culture. No one seems rushed. No one seems cranky. There is a spirit of service. It's a really nice place to go to help keep those humble servants of our health, our feet, happy. read more

I came in with multiple problems with my right foot. I have been coming to this office for three months and now I am almost to the point where I can walk normally. I was given an air cushion during my first visit to walk better on my foot since it had a torn ligament. I was fitted for orthotics and am now in physical therapy. I can get appointment times that are convenient for me and they got me right in the first time I called. Everyone has been friendly and helpful. I usually take the bus there but there is a parking lot for those that want/need to drive there. read more
