I searched throughout my insurance network and this was the one podiatrist office that didn't complicate getting an appointment. I was able to get an appointment with only a short wait time. The office is located in a convenient location, it's right off Lincoln Ave and a block off Damen. There is a train stop, Irving Park, not to far from the office and several buses run near the office. It was easy to get to the office. During my visit I was paired with Dr. Heidi Hoffman, she is amazing! I arrived a few minutes before they opened and Dr. Heidi Hoffman allowed me to come in so I didn't have to wait outside. She was friendly and very educational. As I mentioned above, I came into the office for toe pain that was making it hard to use shoes. She listened to my issue and quickly noticed what could be causing the pain. She was able to give me a instant short-term pain relief and gathered whatever was needed for additional tests. She was also able to help me understand more things about my foot. After the appointment, I was updated roughly a week later about the results of the test and given instructions on how to deal with the continuous toe trauma that she discovered. It's been a few months and my toe barely aches when I put on shoes. I can press on the toe that had the issue and it doesn't hurt. It was the complete opposite a few short months ago. I would highly recommend coming to Lincoln Foot and Ankle Center for all of your needs.

If you are looking for the best podiatrist in Chicago, I cannot recommend Dr. Usman at Michigan Avenue Podiatry Clinic highly enough. I originally went in suffering from two very stubborn issues: severe plantar fasciitis and fungal nails. Although as a doctor, I know a few treatments for these issues, this is not my field so I had to go to a specialist. I had been dealing with debilitating heel pain from my plantar fasciitis for literally years. I felt like I had tried everything to get relief, but Dr. Usman accurately assessed my condition, give me SEVERAL options and ultimately I went with shockwave therapy. The results were incredible. Not many doctors offer shockwave therapy and since this is something that regenerates the tissue where as your typical steroid injection can break down and weaken tissue I wanted a solution that was going to naturally help my body. By my 4th Shockwave visit, the chronic pain I had lived with for years was finally going away. If you have stubborn heel pain or arch pain, this treatment is an absolute game-changer. At the same time, we tackled my fungal nails. Instead of just prescribing topical creams, the clinic used advanced laser therapy for the toenail fungus. The process was quick, professional, and it's great to find a foot doctor who utilizes modern technology to get actual results--I wish my own hospital I work at used the same technology. What really sets Dr. Usman apart is his comprehensive approach to sports medicine and foot health. Because I am a runner, they didn't just treat the immediate symptoms. They took the time to discuss my biomechanics and recommended the proper running shoes to ensure I stay injury-free and keep my plantar fasciitis from returning. If you are a runner, an athlete, or just someone in the Chicago area who has been putting up with chronic foot pain or nail issues for way too long, do yourself a favor and book an appointment here. Between the cutting-edge treatments like shockwave and laser therapy, and the personalized footwear advice, this is by far the top foot and ankle clinic around.

For the 4th toe, he initially aimed for non-invasive treatment (soundwave), which provided some relief and reduced swelling, and did not pressure me to address the big toe. Ultimately, after presenting me with several options, we concluded re-surgery on the two toes with the best results. 2 1/2 months post-surgery, I am back to running and other activities. I still have some residual swelling, but that typically resolves in 4-6 months. I can tell from the xrays that both toes are more stable than before. Dr. Williams is knowledgeable on multiple modalities of care and approaches each situation as a unique problem to solve. He is not quick to push one method over another, instead aiming to educate his patients and reach a mutual decision. I highly recommend his practice to others.

I had an ingrown big toenail that game me mild discomfort and was told that I could undergo a simple procedure to cut the ingrown out of the side of my toe, then have a chemical applied so that it wouldn't grow into the skin anymore. What I ended up with is a deformed big toenail that I now have to use a special gel to reconstruct. I followed up a significant time later on the results and was told that I needed to give the nail time to grow out without filing, reconstructing, etc. I have not touched the toenail at all in over a year, and this is how it looks today, almost five years later. Permanently deformed with about 10% of the side of my toenail missing and slanted. I included a photo of both big toenails to compare the appearance. I'm obviously very disappointed about the outcome and deeply regret getting this procedure done here. I was not informed about this risk beforehand.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this medical practice. I saw Dr Holmbeck this summer…read more(June 2016) after having pain in my heel while running. A quick check of symptoms on the internet and I suspected plantar fasciitis. I tried some at home remedies for a few weeks and had no improvement, in fact it got worse. My job as a nanny also has me on my feet most of the day. I had insurance but was on an HMO and the network I was in couldn't get me into a specialist for almost 3 months. I was in too much pain to wait that long. In 2010 I had an amazing and unbelievably affordable experience with Ankle N Foot Centers (West Town) after fracturing my ankle while unemployed and uninsured (see story below). So based on my previous positive experience with Ankle N Foot Centers, I called Ankle N Foot Centers in the W Loop (close to work and home) to see about cost if I came in and paid out of pocket for an appointment, X-rays, etc. Just as I had experienced in the past they got me in right away (within 2-3 days) and their costs were upfront and totally affordable for someone paying out of pocket. About $400 for an exam, in office X-ray with almost instant images/results, cortisone shot, orthotics for my shoes and a follow up appointment. I saw Dr Holmbeck who was patient, listened, he was thorough with his exam and questions for me and just really nice. He explained that sometimes a second shot was needed as well as some ultrasound therapy if symptoms returned. I felt so much better within 48 hours after the shot. I did require a second shot about 6 weeks later and in office physical therapy for the heel (I know this was my fault for not heeding the warning about how bad flip flops are for your feet, especially when dealing with plantar fasciitis).Again, after the 2 be shot and first treatment out of 6 PT sessions I again felt great within 48 hours. This time I took their advice and swore off flip flops. By my 2nd appointment I had switched to a PPO with BCBS and my insurance was accepted by the office. During my visits for physical therapy Dr Holmbeck always came in to check in and ask about symptoms, results, and concerns. He genuinely took time once again to listen and answer any questions. On one occasion during PT Dr Hernandez was the doctor working that night. She also came in with my file, was informed on why I was there and asked and answered questions. Dr Hernandez also recommended a great brand of flip flops that did not look like old lady shoes which were also good for your feet. Bought 2 pairs on Zappos that night and they got me through summer without looking like I was wearing my grandmother's shoes and. The assistants who do the ultrasound therapy are so nice and professional, just really great guys. Chase at the front desk who handles scheduling and billing in the West Loop office is always awesome. He follows up when he says he will, works really hard to get you appointments that work around your work schedule. They have evening hours a few nights a week. The way this office is run and the treatment of the patients by the doctors should be a model for doctors everywhere. I am back to running, putting in more mileage than ever before and cross training with zero issues. This is all thanks to the doctors and staff at Ankle N Foot Centers. I first became familiar with the Ankle N Foot Centers about 6-7 years ago. While uninsured I tripped and hurt my ankle really badly in a class at the gym. I went to urgent care, they did X-rays and said it was just a bad sprain. 6-7 weeks later after being on crutches I was seeing no improvement. I called Ankle N Foot Center on Chicago Ave in West Town and Inquired on costs of services, etc if I came in to have my Ankle looked at. I was shocked at how affordable their services were considering I had no insurance. I saw Dr Elizabeth KurtZ. She is no longer with the practice because she moved out of state. They did X-rays in office that day for about $100 (compared to the $400 at urgent care just weeks before). Dr KurtZ discovered my ankle was actually not sprained but fractured in 2 spots. Urgent care never caught the fractures on their X-rays. Dr KurtZ and the staff at the West Town office took great care of me. I was given a boot to walk in for about 8 weeks. Afterwards I wore a splint/brace for about 8 weeks. I went in for check ups on progress throughout the time I wore the boot and splint/brace. Dr KurtZ really made sure I was doing well and progressing as I should be since I was up and around on the fractures for so long before discovering that was the real issue. My ankle healed beautifully and I have had no issues since. All in, the total cost to me without insurance for all services during the several months of treatment cost me less than $600. To me this was so affordable for the quality of care that I received and the excellent end results I had without having insurance at the time.
