JP is throwin it down at Pau's! Took a tat I couldn't stand and flipped it into the sickest piece I got, all a shot from the hip. That's straight up eye for the art. Creative, clean lines, HYGIENE ON POINT, and mad talented too! Definitely going back for 500 more tats from him. ...hates Nicki Minaj though, smh. Go check him out! read more

JP was very nice, and did an exceptional job, attention to detail, responded fast, and the shop was playing such a cool dj set on the tv.

Place was so sick and clean. I would recommend this place to everybody that lives in the north shore or visiting. JP took my idea of my tattoo I wanted and made it a reality. I'm so happy I went and got my tattoo done with JP. He's a new artist but really takes his time with details and coloring. His partners have some killer talent and each one brings something different to the table. The shop is so nice, clean and plenty parking. Mahalo JP for my sick Ink. read more

JP did my first tattoo. Me and my wife just got married and went and got matching tattoos! Everyone there was friendly, JP did a great job. I'll probably be back next year on our anniversary to have him do a half sleeve. Thanks JP and the other guy doing work bullshitting with us talking about when we get in a fight, I just point at the tattoo. A lot of fun. read more

If you're not local please don't go to this place!! My friend and I was looking for a place that did piercings and she called this place. Although it's not advertised as they if they do but where we're from not all do but they also do them. Anyway she called and they said they do them. To make a long story short, they scammed us!! Ryan put on the show that he does the piercings but all in all he does not!! He just needs some extra Xmas money there are nicer ways to go about it. And to be fair we did not see the red flags that was waved all in the excited to get this done. But if you're not LOCAL please do not visit this place!!! And on another note , everyone in the shop was in on it!! read more

Ben Trail is the man. He solidified a memorable vacation with my mom with this tattoo. He welcomed us with open arms as walk-in customers. He's not only a talented artist, but a genuine human being. My mom and I got a chance to meet other artists here as well. All talented and great people. If you're in North Shore -- this is the place to go get inked. Thank you so much Ben! read more

Long over due review for Pa'u Tattoo, specifically for Jp. The location is easy to find, every artist there makes you feel comfortable- kind of like welcoming you into their ohana while you are there sitting in the most comfortable kind of pain. I noticed how they all want the customer leaving with the best possible piece of art. They all compliment each other. The piece Jp designed for me is beautiful. It was designed for my girls- my family. I recommend Pa'u Tattoo and I highly recommend Jp. However, any artist there won't have you leaving disappointed. read more

Ty was a master craftsman as advertised, a pleasure to work with for our first tattoos, couldn't be happier with the experience and the outcome. Listened to us, offered free-hand sketches to consider, flexible with timing. He tattooed me, my wife of 10 years and mother-in-law! read more

Another beautiful piece added to my collection thanks to Branson! I mostly have Japanese artwork but came to the conclusion that my ass needs to get inked. I've never had any lettering tattoos so it was exciting to get a VERY special name tattooed on me. At first I was going to do my ribs, but due to the fact that I have a full back piece that somewhat fades into the ribs already, he helped me decide the perfect placement on my flat ass . My boyfriend has been getting tattooed at this shop for years by Ty. All the guys in the shop are super chill and funny. I was cracking up the whole time while I was getting inked. Anyways, Braddahh Brans came through with an amazing piece. He made me feel comfortable and tattooed perfectly. I'm so in love with my new tattoo! Thank you so much! read more

BROOKS WAS AMAZING 10/10 Ryan not so much, wouldn't recommend :( BROOKS- I came in with a picture from Pinterest as a rough idea and he absolutely killed it! I wasn't sure about the placement and I was set on just black. He fit the tattoo design perfectly on the back of my ankle and suggested to add in turquoise and blue accents. I am so glad he did! He did the design freehand. Was very patient and accommodating to my requests and suggestions. For a free hand design it's very symmetrical and lines up really well with my body. Healed very well. This unique tattoo is now my favorite of the lot. Thank you so much Brooks! Ryan- gets a big thumbs down. My very good friend was scheduled for a commemorative piece for the OPC plane crash victims. Ryan was fitting him in last minute which was great at first. First sitting went well and another was scheduled. He didn't show up for the next sitting at all! No attempt to notify his client. Also, while I was at the shop for my tattoo Ryan had a girl show up for a scheduled appointment. My tattoo was almost done by the time he even got her in the chair 1 1/2- 2 hours later!! Yikes. read more

I chose this place with apprehension because of the mixed reviews it has on here but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and came here. I walked in and Ryan quickly saw me and gave me a quote for what I wanted, then we scheduled an appointment for the next Friday, the day before I left for home in the mainland. When I came in for my appointment, I suppose there were 2 people that came in before me. Idk if they had an appointment or not but I ended up waiting an hour or so before being seen. The only reason why I stayed was because I went through Ryan's portfolio and I really love his work (his IG is @artofryan!!!) Him and the other artists are super nice but I think I agree with the other reviewers that it lacks a bit of professionalism. I didn't mind waiting, though, and I'm glad I did because I really love the result. It's also healing a lot better than my first tat (I haven't bled at all yet). I recommend texting your artists before coming in for your appt to see if they need more time with other clients than scheduled! Also, it's cash only so come in with paperrrrr read more

I first came here in 2017 to see Brooks. He had sat down with me and listened to what I wanted to incorporate into my sleeve I was working on and I could tell he got excited by what he imagined he was going to do. Finding an artist who can take your ideas and run with it and be enthusiastic about a piece is key in my mind. Took a couple of sessions but it still looks amazing and I get compliments almost every day on the work and detail... I have been back multiple times, stay tuned for more reviews on Brooks' epic work...I Recommend him, and the other guys at the shop to everyone...they're living their island life with aloha. read more

Can here for vacation and wanted to commemorate my first trip to Hawaii. First impression of the shop I was in awe. A ton of traditional drawing's on the wall, which we found out he drew himself. Our artist Ty, provided excellent service being patient with sizing and it was a very uplifting experience. He talked to me throughout the entire process even giving facts and history of his ancestors. He made us feel very comfortable and I will definitely be coming back to Hawaii just to get another tattoo by this man. read more

Pa'u knows how!! The absolutely best place to get a beautiful tattoo! We come here every year and they do a great job! Talented and super friendly artists! My girl Claire had to move away but my friends all got tattoos from the owner and one other guy can't think of their names but crazy talented tattoo artists. So detailed no matter how big or small how intricate or "plain"... I was all set to get a Lat/Long tattoo but sadly they are closed and we leave tomorrow. Booo!!! I actually heard about these guys from locals so I knew I was in good hands! You will not be disappointed!! They did tell me not to get ink done within 24 hours of departure...not sure how true that is...and obviously avoid getting your tattoo and going in the ocean. I always try to plan my ink party a day or two towards the end of our time here. Mahalo.... read more

Beautiful shop with a nice sitting lounge and good people! Tyler and their crew are worth every penny! Aloha

One star because you have to, otherwise zero stars for a zero tattoo artist! Made two appointments two separate days. Had to call him from the shop both times to see if he was going to show up and even after promising to be there in 15 minutes Ryan never showed up. What a loser!! If you're on vacation don't waste your time with this place, there were no apologies, no one even cared. Absolutely no work ethics with this place couldn't possibly be more disappointed. Terrible service. read more

Hands down felt the love and care from Ty while he worked on me and friends for a last minute walk in tattoo. he gave recommendations on placement and trialed sizes and fonts and was patient the whole time. He gave comforting conversation during my tattoo talking about his family heritage, lineage and the remaining behind the islands culture! This place was clean and well decorated and TY was just incredible!!!! He took into consideration we were flying and used a special wrap for healing till we got home that is waterproof. His gun was so quiet and workstation was clean. read more

We were walk-in's and they got us in right away. Wonderful experience and great tattoos.

Made an appointment with Ty for the day before I left Oahu. Went in for my 1:30 appointment which he had forgotten but the front desk girl texted him and he came in. He explained the situation and I understand life happens. Wanted a Maori tiki, he sketched up something a little different but I trusted his artistic lead. Here's what I'll have on my arm the rest of my life, to be honest not the happiest with the finished product and unfortunately can't just go to the shop and have Ty fix the inconsistencies as I'm on the mainland now. I've seen other examples of Ty's work on here and know he's a good Artist, guess with me it was an off day. Update: every time I looked at Ty's work on my arm I saw another crooked line or inconsistency. Drove me nuts so decided to get it covered-up. Went and saw Big Gus from Tattoo Nightmares and he gave me a piece I truly can be proud of. read more

Was able to get in for four matching tattoos on our vacation last minute. Our artist was super accommodating & nice enough to stay a little past closing for all of us to arrive. He had the softest touch which would have been great if we weren't getting our tattoos on our hand (the ink didn't stay in that well so we have to get them redone now). Still a great experience with welcoming artists! read more

I love all my tattoos... But this one is by far my favorite. Freehand by @paubrooks . I've waited so long to get inked by him and it was so worth the wait. Great vibes.... Amazing skill. I can honestly say it didn't hurt AT ALL. Just overall my best tat experience.... And I have ALOT! Very professional and clean. My family of seven called the shop and asked for a very basic circle inspired family tattoo. He said he could do it no problem come by later that day before eight. We drove all the way across the island just for him to tell us we were to late (got there 6:30). Which was ok whatever so we make an appointment for Wednesday. We text ty and ask if he has any earlier openings he says yes come 9:30 7/4. We wake up drive all the way there and we wait 15 min no show... we waited a whole HOUR AND 20 minutes.... TY NEVER CAME only texted one to say he was running late needed 10-15 minutes but then a whole hour went by. Very disappointing we wasted a lot of time we coulda spent elsewhere 0/10 ...would not recommend dont waste your time. Bye ty read more

The guys at this shop are awesome. I've been going in here for over three years. Tyler has done a full sleeve for me as well as finished my other sleeve, and a full chest piece. I've had friends get tattoos from Ty, Koa, Ryan and Brooks as well. Can vouch for all their work. If you want to have a good experience, be around very approachable guys, listen to interesting stories and music, but most importantly leave with quality work on your body, then go here! Ty did a perfect original design; exactly what I asked for and without the usual "photocopy" so many shops use. He took his time and didn't rush even though I was a walk-in. They fit me in on my last day in Hawaii and now I have a permanent reminder of what won't be my last visit to the North Short. Mahalo. read more
