My family and I were visiting Galveston before our cruise and we had 3 who would be celebrating birthdays. The first birthday was the day before our cruise started, so I called PattyCakes Bakery to see if they had any cakes available for purchase and if I could get writing on it, because my brother had mentioned that he only wanted to try local restaurants while we were there. I was assured that they had cakes and that they could write on the cake. My sister and I took an Uber to the store and they had a cake available, but they told us it would be about 5 minutes before the person who did the writing arrived. We waited much longer than 5 minutes and the person who was supposed to do the writing NEVER arrived. We could see the staff texting and calling and finally one of the people working said that she was not good at it, but she offered to write on the cake for us. She didn't do a great job (all we wanted was "Happy Birthday" and my brother's name) but it was better than nothing, and my sister and I truly appreciated those that tried to assist us. My rating is based upon the horrible service by the person who was supposed to do the writing, and the fact that we paid $35 for a chocolate cake that was dry and not very good. I would not recommend this bakery, even with the great service we received from those who were working that day. read more

We sought out PattyCakes due to their positive reviews about gluten free (gf) menu options. This quaint little shop was a pleasant surprise upon entering. The seemingly all women team was cheerful, helpful, and delightful! The reviews were accurate. I asked first about their gf options and was offered at least a half dozen options. I settled on the buckeyes and petit fours. My gluten ingesting travel mates selected cinnamon roll cookies and the pecan cinnamon roll. The petit fours were my personal favorite, they were simply MARVELOUS! The cake was dense and moist and the frosting literally made me wish I had a whole cake! The buckeyes, the cinnamon roll and cookies also received honorable mention. All three were superb with a mug of black coffee! Do recommend that you heat the cinnamon roll if able prior to eating. Considering going back tomorrow for more petit fours!! read more

This place is really good and in walking distance of UTMB. Their bakery case was filled with so many different pastries. Service was quick and easy. Now a whole lot to say about ambiance as it's not really a dine in bakery, but it was nice and clean. My caramel latte was good! I also got a cinnamon roll, I am deducting a star for that bc I wished it had been warmed up before it was served to me! Whenever I eat across the street at Mosquito Cafe, I always get a slice of the Lemonade cake, which comes from PattyCakes bakery. The lemonade cake is always perfect! The flavor is good and perfect for sharing. Today I stopped in for a little treat. I bought a fudge pecan sandie and a holy cow. TLDR: Keto Options Available! Everything we got was LEGIT. They were some of, if not THE best, keto baked goods I've had... and that's saying a lot. Admittedly, the keto items are made Marinas Bakery in League City, but it was a godsend to have something like this available on the island to satisfy my sweet tooth. Kudos to the staff for explaining everything and providing the nutrition labels/pricing. I'll def be back to try their in house treats when not on keto. Service: 8.4/10 The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Food: 9.2/10 Keto Blueberry Loaf: 9.2/10 I am honestly floored by how good this was... even if I wasn't on keto, this would have still gone hard in the paint. The cake was moist and the crumble on top had a nice "sugary" texture that was lengths and bounds ahead of any other similar product I've tried in this category. Do it. Keto Croissant: 8.7/10 Is it the better than the traditional French croissant? Probably not... But it's near perfection when you're limiting carbs and the options are extremely limited. These were absolutely worth it! Do it. Keto Everything Bagel: 8.7/10 Bagels are such a difficult thing to emulate on a keto plan. These were also the best version I've had, and it's not even close. Do it. All in all, our experience was stellar. In a quick 5 minutes we were in and out... completely satisfied. It was pricey... $70 for a blueberry loaf, 4 croissants, and 5 bagels... but when you account for the fact that these were the best keto items out there... worth every penny. Local here- Yet again, I'm surprised that Patty Cakes stays open. I go in at 2 o'clock and ask for a coffee. They wouldn't serve me coffee because they had 'closed up' their machine (an hour early) . I don't get it ....if a customer wants something you sell, don't you serve it to them? Clean again the dang machine again- especially if you're not closing down for another hour and are just standing around. . It got me kind of frustrated so I didn't even get the few cakes iI wanted for guests that evening. I order plain cupcakes (vanilla and chocolate) with vanilla or chocolate icing. I was to pick them up at 5pm on Saturday but while we were sightseeing on Saturday morning (about 10:30am), I stopped in to let them know I would pick them up that evening. to my surprise, the cupcakes were ready. I was in shock! I couldn't even speak! These cupcakes were decorated with pastel sprinkles and were nothing more than a prepackaged bakery item and $150. I left and called back about 45 minutes later to discuss my options. I was advised that I should have "customized" when I ordered to which I responded "what does plain mean?" We were staying in Galveston for my daughters 8th birthday. I ordered a cake in advance first via Facebook messenger then a phone call. They prefer a phone call over messenger which is fine. The process was easy. We ordered a 6 inch, one tier 3 layer vanilla cake with strawberry filling and custom fishing themed cake. Total was around 60 bucks. When we came to pick up, plenty of parking along the street so that was no problem. Cake was very cute. Very pleased. Since we weren't eating the cake until the next day(they were closed on Monday and that was the birthday), we got a couple of cupcakes. Vanilla on vanilla cake was great. Red velvet was dry for my taste. Sad face. As for the birthday cake. Frosting was DELICIOUS. Not too sugary or whipped creamy if you know what I mean. Decorations was totally cute. Daughter didn't like the strawberry filling but that was a preference thing. Still can't get over the creamy texture of the frosting. I'm more of a cake person over frosting (texture and taste sometimes doesn't agree with me) so it was a nice treat to actually eat the whole thing for a change. BUYER BEWARE. I am insane. I went to this bakery this morning expecting to spend around $40. I purchased a coffee cake (about 1 lb), 6 small slices if chocolate rugalah, and one spinach and cheese croissant. They wrapped it all nicely and after I slipped in my credit card the total was SIXTY SEVEN DOLLARS. yes $67. I was on my way back to San Marcos and in a hurry so I hit accept and left with the goods. Yes, their products are excellent BUT that was ridiculous. BUYER BEWARE They are definitely GOUGING the public like all the other companies these day. I know I was stupid to pay them.
