The restaurant manager was not very nice. We happened upon this restaurant and he was not willing to even try to seat us. He told us all tables were spoken for. We ended up eating at the bar and the bar tender was awesome. We nociticed before leaving that the table we asked about in the bar area was still empty when we left 1.5 hours later. Friendly workers sat us quickly and attended to us often. They were out of the haystack onions that came on our burger but offered to replace them with cheese curds. Sure why not, love the ingenuity. Ordered pretzels as an appetizer and the came out hot and fast and the beer cheese was really delicious as well. The table and bench weren't stable and locked in place as we accidentally found out but we managed not to spill our drinks. We have gone here twice and the food both times was delicious! Service was ok the first time and much better the second. I think my only issue was we made a reservation and were still made to wait when we got there even though there were open tables. My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday afternoon. When we initially walked in we were greeted by the manager and felt very welcomed. Our waitress, who's name I didn't catch was awesome! She recommended a few things off the menu in which we decided to try the prime rib sandwich and the buffalo chicken wrap with the gumbo soup. Everything was fresh, hot and super tasty. I'd first like to preface this review overall score being heavily influenced by a bad experience with one server on one visit. We stopped here after attending a local high school event and were impressed with the variety of items on the menu and the atmosphere when we sat down. Here's the good news: the chicken parmesan was outstanding and so were the homemade salad dressings. Here's the bad news: My wife asked about the caprice sandwich and what all was on it and it sounded delicious. When the sandwich came it was not made as described on the menu and was more of a bruschetta sauce with quite a bit of onion. When our server asked us if everything was OK my wife pointed out that the sandwich was not like it was described on the menu and had a lot of onions. The server argued that the menu does say that it has onions and didn't offer to replace it. We asked to see a menu again, and when we reread it, it mentioned nothing about onions on the menu. When the server came back to the table, we pointed out to her that the menu does not mention onions, and she immediately began backpedaling that the menu must've been changed that the old menu used to say that there were onions. It was a poor response to a poor experience that could've easily been corrected by a more experienced and professional server. My wife and I both have been in the hospitality business and worked in the restaurant industry as servers and trainers of servers and this was by far one of the worst experiences with a server. She said she was going to mention something to get the item corrected on the menu in the future, but this did nothing to improve our experience that evening. Simply admitting to a mistake and taking ownership for it and apologizing for it is all it would've taken for this to be a four star rating. We will not be back. read more

Patton Block is Monmouth's gem and those who know know. Their menu is fresh and full of some well loved dishes particularly prime beef, honey pecan chicken and fish specials. Perfect for a date, a group or eating at the bar. Highly recommend. read more

Atmosphere is nice, small restaurant with a bar area and tables. Staff was attentive and the food was good. If you are looking for spectacular then you might be disappointed but for a small town the food was good and is a nice option. Great small-town nice restaurant. I went here with my parents when I was visiting home. The food is great, I had the Grilled Sweet Chili Shrimp and it was cooked perfectly, the sweet chili sauce on the wild rice was amazing. Also, you need to try the Yukon garlic smashed potatoes. My parents had the special, which was beef kabobs and I would highly recommend them as well. The flavor on the steak was great, even though my parents ordered it Medium Well! lol, The only downside was the server was new and inexperienced, but very nice. It's a college town so that may be a factor. Also, with the great food, they could do a better job on the wine selection. That said, i will go back! read more
