I tried to confirm my party a week in advance and couldn't get ahold of anyone. I received a text from what I thought was a robot? Still not sure if it was but they said they didn't have my reservation despite me saying they had my deposit. Gave me a number to call, which I did 2x and left voicemails, no response. I honestly thought I was getting scammed. 2. They state you need 7 car lengths of room for the truck. You probably only need about 4. The gaming trailer pulled up, hooked up to a Tacoma that was clearly too small to be pulling it. The back end of his truck was tilted down and looked very unprofessional with his busted taillight. The trailer was very dirty on the outside. 3. When I booked this party, I mentioned I needed WiFi because it's a Fortnite birthday. The gaming host didn't complete the update by the time he came to my party and told me it was going to take 4 hours, but 1 TV outside the trailer had it. So now, the birthday boy has to play OUTSIDE the trailer by himself while all his friends were inside. 4. The controllers weren't working. So now my son is almost in tears because he patiently waited an hour (which we only had the trailer for 2 hours) to play his favorite game on his birthday and it still wasn't working. I had to use my own gaming controllers. 5. The "Gaming coach" was a joke. There was literally no interaction with the kids at all. I think he said 3 words the entire time he was here. He was scrolling on his phone the entire time. Yes, I did call. Yes, they gave me $175 off. But it's still not right. I throw big parties for my kids every year and this is the first year I am truly disappointed & still out $350 for a terrible experience. Just trying to help the next mom who puts in weeks of work preparing and planning to make everything special for her kids. Find a different company.

She was able to skate circles around me, which TBH isn't that hard. My boyfriend found a new talent though. He hasn't skated a day in his life, yet everyone thought he was professional. For the birthday party, they booked the smaller ice rink, which would probably be too small for a larger party, but was perfect for us, especially since everyone wasn't skating. Renting skates were fairly easy, except there was not one at the counter to help us when we got there. We had to flag someone down working in one of the other areas to help us. He was really nice, but you would think you want someone at the skates rental at all times. I was really impressed by my cousin and her friends because they were so talented. The lessons must be very good. We didn't have the rink for too long (which my aching legs and butt did not mind). After skating we went to the party room where we ate pizza and cake. The food wasn't from the rink, so I can't speak for the food here. The room was pretty nice and big which allowed the kids to run around. Overall, it was a good time and I know my cousin had fun!

The entry/exit doors at every other rink are motion sensor activated electric sliders. At Southwest, every hockey player has to try to fling open a door and run through with their equipment bag. Bathrooms are filthy and disgusting with water damaged ceiling tiles and mold. Forget about soap. The seating area of the rink is freezing because of the poorly designed architecture; the cooling equipment has to work extra hard to fill up that much space. You'll be sitting on cement slabs. At many other rinks there is enclosed seating, a much better food counter, and some even have restaurants and full bars. The prices they charge for "food" here are comical. They won't even spend the money to have their sign lit at night. It's broke, and they aren't fixing it. Ever. It's embarrassing as that's the first impression they make on a new visitor. You can easily drive past it. Also the parking lot is dangerous to the suspension of any vehicle other than a full size truck or SUV. It will destroy your car. Southwest refuses to spend any money on repaving. It's also located in Crestwood, which is a cesspool. There are no places nearby where you could actually eat and feel safe. Enjoy the piss bums from the liquor store next door. It's a shame because 40 years ago it was probably a nice rink. But clearly whoever owns Southwest is more concerned with lining their pockets than pride in ownership. Filthy, dated, and uncomfortable are the three words that best describe Southwest Ice Arena.
