Although my husband and I are New Englanders, we moved to Arizona about 12 years ago and are moving back east again. So, we haven't had the luxury of New England subs for quite a long time. Used to be a great place. Now they've removed the waitresses, the bar and ambiance. The food is still decent but it's lost its charm sadly.

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for some pizza. We were looking for a pizza place somewhere in between Lubec and Columbia Falls whenever we found Pat's Pizza. From the outside it looks like a small little place but that's deceiving and once you are inside it is massive. There is a dining room filled with tables and booths that could probably fit around 100 people and then a bar with seating for 8 more. They have all sorts of Boston sports memorabilia around including a lot of Pats stuff. There were 5 very large TV's in the dining room area and then two more behind the bar, most with the Red Sox game on. Finally on their menu they noted that they also have 8 rotating local Maine beers which can change weekly which I liked. For dinner on this day my wife and I decided to split a large (14") BBQ Chicken Pizza. The menu described the pizza as having a bbq sauce base, provolone and chicken marinated in BBQ sauce. As with most pizzas this can be broken down into its three major components of cheese, crust and sauce and this one had a 4th with addition of the toppings. Let's start with the sauce which I found to be nice here. It had a touch of sweetness to it but wasn't overpowering and also wasn't too spicy. The cheese was also good here as there was an ample amount of provolone which really complimented the sweet sauce. Finally let's talk about the crust which was a thin crust here. The bottom wasn't crispy but held the pizza together nicely while the edges developed a nice crusty exterior. Lastly was the chicken which was cubed and there was a nice amount on each piece. It was covered in bbq sauce so was moist and didn't taste dry at all. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Pat's Pizza has a nice vibe to it and the food here was good as well. read more

We stopped here because we were STARVING and this was one of the few options after being on the road for 3 hours looking at lighthouses. Other restaurants were closed since it's winter at the time of writing this review. I must say that I'm a bit of a pizza snob. I come from CT, home of some of the best Greek pies and New Haven style brick oven slices. My parents even owned a pizzeria when I was (much) younger! So I can say, with confidence, that this is one of the best places I've ever had the pleasure of happening upon. We got a standard small pepperoni and some mozzarella sticks. When I first saw the box with my hungry eyeballs...I had a feeling it was going to be good from the start. It was thin, gooey, with melty cheese and MEATY roni pieces. They don't skimp on toppings and it was sooooo delicious!! I found out it's a chain and I'm wishing there was one near me because I'd be their biggest customer, lol. The mozzarella sticks reminded me of how my parents used to make theirs, and was accompanied by a hearty, thick marinara sauce that tasted homemade. All Covid precautions were taken and everything looked clean/sanitized. I'll definitely be grabbing a bite to eat tomorrow before I head back! Home run, for sure! read more

Hmmm. We have been to several different Pat's Pizza locations. Expected quality of food to be at least similar to other locations-it is NOT!!!! Ellsworth Pat's is SO much better!! Machias is a bit limited for restaurants-but I would pick nearly any other. read more

We were looking for a local pizza place during a cabin trip, and this is it. Everything we ordered was exactly what we expected. Decent crust, decent toppings, and the food was ready when they said it would be. Next time I do a cabin trip in the area, I'll be back. read more

This place was a diamond in the rough find. Loved the pizza, tasty salads. We arrived 30 minutes before close on a Sunday and we had some of best pizza this side of the Mississippi. We did get the sense that some locals were eyeballing us with derision, but I won't hold that against the place. read more

Worst pizza we ever had. Dry, where's the cheese? spicy hot sauce what there was of it. Dough like cardboard and what's with buttering the dough and then adding the sauce. Drove with it in the car to get it home and never smelled a thing, should have at least had a scent. One bite and we knew a frozen pizza would have been 100% better and would not have cost $12.01 for a 14" (large) pizza. Lesson learned. read more

Gluten Free Pizza!!! They should post a sign out front....Considering the plethora of fried everything in this area, it is a bit difficult to find food that has not been breaded first. Imagine my surprise to find gluten free pizza. I loaded a small up with toppings and it was really good. I liked the feel of this place too. Truly dreadful shockingly bad experience, not just once but twice. Went here because you can reach it from the ATV trail system and the first time we went it had just opened. The staff obviously were new and inexperienced, bar staff couldn't even pour a beer. The hog wings came and were still very cold in the middle. The pizza was average and also cold. We decided to give the place a 2nd try several months after opening now that it had, had time to improve and train staff. What a mistake! the place has gone even worse, very downhill. It was understaffed (and empty at peak time) we ordered the Hog wings again and this time they were frozen in the middle. Not only was it shocking that they are serving meat at illegal and very dangerous temperatures, but also that there products are mass produced frozen goods. We returned them only to receive a replacement portion that was less than half the size and still ice cold in the middle. Still very dangerous. I complained and granted the waitress took them off the bill finally. Then came the Calzones, ice cold in the middle and the shredded cheese hadn't even melted slightly. Again very dangerous, especially as it was packed with meats. This time the waitress didn't care and was even a little argumentative. The pizza wasn't even gas station quality. Not good quality fresh or local ingredients, but rather cheap processed or frozen mass marketed junk. This was truly the worst pizza experience all of us have had in North America. No excuse for several months into trading. I will also note that the pizza was served within 5 and half minutes of being ordered. This is truly impossible to deliver a pizza to the table in this time and expect it to be cooked. Will never return and have since heard from literally dozens of people that they too got cold food and had to complain. Good luck with this one, but my advice is go get a slice of frozen pizza from a local gas station it will be better, fresher, warmer and safer. read more
