She got my cut just right, but what really stood out was the color. It's the first time I've felt like someone truly understood what I was going for. The result was natural, flattering, and exactly what I had in mind. Nicki is experienced, attentive, and is a talented stylist. It only took 8 years for me to find her. Oh, and the salon is lovely. Today was my first time at this salon…read more The salon is very easy to get to because it's right across the street from the parking garage on Fleet St. and also around the block from the smaller lot by Hanover St. I saw Lauren for my single process color and haircut. We talked about my color and cut and Lauren was right on par with exactly what I wanted. She was very nice, welcoming and open to what I wanted. I started with unevenly colored hair, long root growth and old faded dye on the other bottom half. I was looking to be rid of the faded reddish color and start going lighter so that eventually I can have a much lighter brown. The color came out nice! It's a nice lighter brown and looks a lot more even. The haircut was just what I wanted, shorter and a little layering with texture. She gave me options of styling it and parting it differently. Very happy that I found this salon and a stylist I am happy with in Portsmouth! My fiancé will be going for his haircut there next week!

Every head of hair walking out the door is beautiful. Also, the location is fantastic- view of Portsmouth, the river and tug boats? I'm hooked. Side note: the owner, Angel, is WONDERFUL and sweet and her little Boston terrier is snuggly and cute. I have been going here now for about a year. I see Janna. Janna is fantastic and really patient with me. She always cuts my hair beautifully, but today she fixed something that I thought could never be corrected. I was given a "clear gloss" by a friend- and it stripped all my dirty blonde color out of my hair. I had been growing my natural color for 3 years and LOVED it. In one swoop it went away. I don't know HOW she did it- but she, and the help of 2 others, worked for 2 solid hours on my hair until it was perfect. Back to my natural color, silky texture and perfect. I had just got a cut on Saturday from Janna, so finally I am able to enjoy it! Take my advice and make an appointment. If you didn't love your hair before, these gals will certainly change that.

Being a licensed cosmetologist, I was skeptical. I asked Cassandra if she felt comfortable cutting short, S2 wavy/curly hair. I needed it cut badly, as I was leaving town the next morning. Cassandra listened as I explained what I wanted my hair to look like/do. I felt in very capable hands with her. I had not had a previous haircut since October '25. She gave me, probably the best haircut I have had in years. So much so, that I don't feel it necessary to seek out the stylist I originally booked with. A great haircut is one in which I don't have to go home and "tweak" with my own scissors. That is what Cassandra gave me. I will definitely return to Oomph with Cassandra. She is wonderful!

Liz was great; as I am in my 20s I always want a stylist who can give a modern cut and a colour that looks luxe and expensive. Liz more than delivers on both accounts and when she told me the price at the end, it was so much lower than expected that I thought she had missed a decimal place...cut and colour for under $100! Worth mentioning that the products she used for highlighting my hair got it to the light blonde I wanted, but left it feeling healthy and happy..something anyone who has had highlights knows is nothing short of a miracle. Fantastic service for any price - but for the level of expertise of both the cut and colour (plus excellent conversation and a relaxing experience) Liz is by far the best stylist I've ever had! The salon was very clean and trendy, with fresh baking and coffee a nice addition. For anyone looking for a new hair stylist in the area, you cannot go wrong with Liz. Highly highly recommend.

She spent 8 hours working on my hair, taking amazing care of both me and my hair! She was so kind and funny to talk to, and listens to everything you ask and say! I left after those 8 hours with the most BEAUTIFUL purple hair, more than I could even imagine. She worked with my (extremely stubborn) hair and made it a work of art. She told me that because of my hair color and condition, true lavender all over wouldn't be possible, so she adapted and added a darker purple in places where lavender wouldn't cover, to make sure I was all purple and it turned out SO cool. I won't be going anywhere else for color (especially not box dye...)!! THANK YOU LIZ!!
