If you ever get a good deal on a comic, the owner will never forgive you for it and will be rude to…read moreyou every time you visit the store afterwards. The store is poorly organized and the comics are not even priced! Few of them are even bagged or boarded! Basically, it's a pain to figure out what he has in stock, and then you have to wait for him to look every comic up on eBay so he can charge you as much as possible for them. The owner has been sitting on all this stuff for decades and has so few customers that he should be happy when anyone comes in wanting to buy back issues. Instead he basically relies on customers to let him know if any of his comics have any value, and then he takes to his smartphone to figure out how much he can charge you. I visited the store a few times and made $100+ purchases on a couple armloads of comics. The third time I entered, he informed me that I had "cheated" him out of money because ONE of the comics I bought from him previously was worth more than he (and *I*) thought it was at the time. He informed me that it was a "$40 comic", even though it really only sells for $15, and I paid him $5 for it. (Note: He looks at the maximum amounts of what people on eBay are ASKING for certain issues. He doesn't look at the much lower prices that the actual issues end up selling for!) So, I'm supposed to be SO SORRY that I got a bit of a deal on ONE COMIC, even though I gave him over $200 on other comics? The heck with that! I've been in the store twice since, and both times the owner was totally rude to me, like it's still eating him up inside that I gave him $220 when it really "should" have been $235 or whatever. People warned me about the shop before I went there, and actually even another comic shop owner from 100 miles away actually told me that this place is notorious. "You ever been to Pegasus Hobbies up there in Watertown? Yeah, that guy can't stand it when you get a deal from him!" In the four times total that I've been in his shop, NO other customers ever entered. He has few customers, and I can see why. I will never shop there again.

Hi there. Mr. Kinney was a terrific help to me in this shop and knew just where to locate the…read moreissues I needed for the exhibit the Art Association of Oswego is hosting this weekend. I've added the press release below and hope the comics community turns out and enjoys the show. What a great resource and fun place to shop! Thx again! Suzanne Gaffney Beason Former Marvel Comics Editor and Director of Editorial Scheduling for DC Comics For immediate release... On Saturday, August 12th from 7 to 9 pm a reception will be held for the opening of a new art exhibition at the Art Association of Oswego. The exhibition, by Suzanne Gaffney Beason, is titled My Life in Comics / My Life in Art. Part of the show is a display of Ms. Beason's personal collection of original drawings by well-known comic artists from her days at Marvel Comics, where she was assistant editor to high-profile comics such as Spider-Man and X-Men. Also on exhibit will be original prints and drawings from her current work as a graduate student in SUNY Oswego's Master of Arts program in Studio Arts. This includes both figurative work and highly abstract explorations of color, shape and texture. According to the Art Association's exhibition coordinator Bill DeMott, "As an undergraduate at SUNY Oswego in the 80's, Suzanne got a fantastic education, one that took her to New York City to work for the likes of Robert Blackburns' Printmaking Workshop NYC, Marvel Comics, Reader's Digest, Pearson Education and eventually DC Comics. But when DC moved to California, she made the brave decision to return to Oswego to pursue her first love, fine arts. Her current work is stunning and in her new art one can see all the knowledge gained from years of working with figures and bold abstractions. We welcome Suzanne and her husband Kirk to this community. Their energy and enthusiasm for art--and for music--are truly refreshing." The reception for this exhibition is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The exhibition will run until Sunday, August 27th. Regular gallery hours are from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturdays and from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sundays or by appointment. Group tours can be arranged. The Art Association of Oswego is located at the northernmost end of East 4th Street in Oswego, directly across from historic Fort Ontario. The Art Association' galleries are housed in the Oswego Civic Arts Center along with the Frances Marion Brown Theater. The phone number for the AAO is 315 216-6782. Their website is www.oswegoart.org.

This is a really fun and unique neighborhood comic shop. Although the selection of trade paperbacks…read moreis limited, expect to find many single issues. I would say this store is a must see for the casual collector. If you are looking for a rare back issue, this store is probably better suited than most for your goal. Figurines also seem to be sold with the collector in mind - Fourth Wall has one of the largest selections of pop figurines I've ever seen outside of a comic con. There are also so many odd random items tucked throughout the shop - while there, I saw a Hulk Hogan board game, a puzzle displaying meat, a variety of vhs tapes, stacks of used books... The inventory here is really unique and interesting. The stock on current issues seems a little limited, especially in Indies, but that is not unexpected in a relatively new shop. I found the staff to be welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. What makes this store really interesting is that it is already fitted to be a great community space. From the pinball at the door to the wide back issue selection to the gaming/tv/couch area in the back, 4th while invites you to hang out and stay awhile. It's a great place to bring the whole family to peruse while you pick up your monthly pull list. I look forward to seeing the store grow and find its niche over time.
