If the weather ins nice, you can't go wrong with trying this out while in St. Michaels. The $28 bucks (online) was a steal for a cruise along the water front. Captain Mike was kind and funny and he did a good job narrating the cruise. You can tell he does this several times a day yet he still was able to make our day. :)

Strangely affordable. The captain was quite funny. We had a great time. It was very relaxed.

Nice little ride down the river. Not too pricey. Great views and a nice way to really see everything.

We had a great time on the cruise. We did the historical narrated cruise which was nice however now after learning there are different types of tours, I think I would have gone for one of those. Don't get me wrong, I liked learning about the St. Michaels history but it was kinda more of an older crowd if you get what I'm saying. Either way the views were awesome and the captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the river. The tour was a little bit over an hour which is kinda short but for the price I think it was fine. They also had a bar on the boat which is always a plus! I would definitely recommend checking out the patriot tours.

Excellent way to use an afternoon. Affordable and full of views you wouldn't have otherwise. I think we paid attention to about 10 percent of the narration because we were just enjoying the views and focusing on some of the water front properties. There was even a good view of a couple Osprey nests. Highly recommend and would do again.

Had a blast with Patriot Cruises! We brought our pups to St Michaels for a day trip and read that dogs were allowed on this cruise - sure enough we were able to bring our furbabies aboard to enjoy the beautiful weather and amazing views! The hour-long cruise was so relaxing, I wish I could stay on the boat for days. The captain was very friendly and information he was relaying to us during the tour was actually very interesting. I was so thrilled that our pups were able to enjoy the cruise with us, they seemed to love being out on the water :)

We had our wedding on the Patriot and Robin was such an amazing help and host! She helped plan every aspect and made sure everything went so smooth. Capt John was great and officiated the ceremony better than anyone out there. We had a great time and it was all thanks to the help from the Marrah's!

A turn at the wheel

We had a wonderful time. The cruise is folksy and they do a nice job mixing a relaxing cruise with giving bits of info on the area and history. They let kids have a turn at the wheel for show which is fun. Drinks and snacks are very reasonably priced. You get a discount at the museum if you let them know you cruised on the Patriot. We went first for a wedding cruise and returned for a historical cruise on a Sunday afternoon.

Going over the Bay Bridge in the rain... scary

If I could give a zero, I would. Moral of the story- NEVER pre-purchase your ticket from this place AND expect for management to error on the side of economic gain rather than safety and great customer service. As everyone knows, hurricane Harvey was devastating to the residents in Houston. What I didn't expect is for the storm to affect us here in the D.C. area. On September 1, my girlfriend and I decided to take a spare of the moment trip to St. Michaels for the night - Saturday to Sunday. Once the hotel was booked- which by the way was a miracle- i immediately purchased two tickets to the evening cruise thinking we will absolutely be there before 5pm. What I didn't expect was the horrible rain we got on our end. The rain was so bad it took us longer to get to St. Michaels than expected. Once I realized that we may not make it in time- I immediately contacted the company and said that we were stuck in the rain and that we may not make it in time. We were told that they were going to still sail even in the rain and that I could not get a refund but I could take the next cruise. I informed them that we were leaving Sunday during the day. She informed me that the "terms and conditions " state that they don't give refunds unless they cancel. Well, the terms and conditions didn't have a clause for acts of God. Meaning - we all can plan, but in the end Mother Nature will always have the last say. And for us , we got caught in the rain and didnt check into our bed and breakfast until 7pm. Management of the B&B had to leave the key. I contacted the cruise and management indicated that we were NOT the only ones who got caught in the remnants of the hurricane. They still will not issue a refund - only a credit for future travel (oh btw before the season ends which is in a few weeks). 1. Our schedule is so busy we cannot go back (before the end of the season); AND 2. Why would I come back to poor customer service? Management's only concern is for financial gain rather than great customer service and safety . We were late because of hurricane Harvey. I will make sure I let everyone I know about the poor customer service we received from this organization. A bit of advice- the $60 refund is a small price to pay for repeat customers and excellent referrals. Unfortunately, I will NEVER return and will make sure that my experience is noted and documented for all of my friends and colleagues who visit St. MicheAl's often. Signed, Disappointed & Confused

Great cruise only $24 for adults. The cruise was a little over an hour. They have a bar, lite food. The captain was friendly and made the ride fun. Spectacular views of waterfront property. A must when spending the day in St. Michaels, MD.

Great cruise. Well worth the price. Captain was fantastic - he lets all the kids steer the boat (even my 60 something sister).

Wonderful people -- Captain GM, Laura Bell and the entire crew provided a truly memorable experience and we're looking forward to soon returning for an encore. Last-minute clouds muted the sunset, but we returned to harbor/marina by the light of a beautiful full moon. Can't visit St. Michaels without such sailing!

I needed to get away, and saw this excursion via Eric Oranges' wine happenings. Wine tasting and…read moresailing! Right up my alley. I booked and made reservation at Harbour Inn- I love that I stayed at before. Approached by a spry lady, I was asked my name - she turned out to be the granddaughter of this 1926 New England Charter, Capt Iris. Very personable and knowledgable as she pointed out things along St Michaels banks e.g., The Perry Inn and the focal point filming of The wedding crashers. The name Selina, itself had family virtue and significance-pronounced different ways, the one I remember is as in Selena Gomez. We were also quizzed on how many tons the vessel weighed. My guess way low-16 tons!!. We marveled at the woodwork and upkeep of the ship and hours to maintain- not to mention gas cost. We were offered our choice of beverage- I had a tasty Chardonnay, although I'm not sure the brand. The first mate. Was agile at that point coasting in a nice spot to put up the sail, beautiful as the sky was starting to cast its evening glow with the sunset. It was truly relaxing as we made small talk about catfish and enjoyed the ambiance. I then had a second Pinot Noir however the water being a little choppy declined a third- we were Rockin ! a little with wind picking up. It was a very enjoyable outing and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Next time I want to be at the helm lol, if only for a photo shot. Speaking of photos...a picture paints a thousand words...btw the name means 'moonlight'

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is one of those museums that I enjoy visiting every few years. Since they recently opened a new building I was excited to check it out. With limited time to explore, I stuck to the new building which has their admissions/ticket counter, various types of Chesapeake Bay boats, a well curated display case of ship models on display and a lovely gift shop. Oh, and let's not forget Sailor the Iron Dog! Two of my all time favorite exhibits at the museum are the display of oyster cans and the crab picking machine. I laugh every time I see the crab picking machine and I always marvel at all of the big oyster cans. Being able to go inside the Hooper Strait lighthouse is also fun. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum has lovely views of the river from shore but those who want a better view can take a cruise or sail on one of various historic vessels. Another things that makes CBMM great is its plentiful parking and close proximity to downtown Saint Michaels.

Unfortunately the exhibit was small and, if I'm being honest, boring. The grounds here are not very large and are composed mostly of old wooden boats, bells, and a lighthouse, which was by far the highlight of our visit. They claim that the grounds are dog friendly however there isn't much to see outside so I would not recommend bringing a dog. I wouldn't personally recommend bringing children either as it doesn't seem like they would have a good time here. There were five or six children present during our visit and they were literally just running in circles on the grass. I understand that our visit was during the off-season but it was a wasn't a very good use of time or money in my opinion.
