We ended up in North Beach this past weekend, how pretty! Small but nice! Boardwalk and all! There is a private beach but it's for locals. Very very cute quaint neighborhood surrounding the "beach" area. Looking at water will never get old. If you're a water baby, or just love looking at water (lakes, oceans, ponds) then this is it! Sandy Point is way too crowded and can be over stimulating for people wanting a relaxing yet local beach getaway. North Beach punches above its weight by having that peaceful, charming presence and vibe for you to relax. It is a year around destination, in that sure the beach (sand) might not be open, but the boardwalk is free all year around. I have found myself walking the boardwalk on gorgeous Spring and Fall days not during peak season enjoying myself. There are nice restaurants, eateries, food trucks and other charming venues around to grab smoothies, ice cream, and other delectables. My only gripe is the price of admission for the beach itself for non-county residents is a bit steep and has risen. You can rent an umbrella too, but that also costs more money. However, you do not always need to head to the actual beach and can enjoy the boardwalk and the local venues without having to pay that and get some sightseeing in. This is one of my favorite day-trip destinations in the DMV especially to wind down and relax with some good ole therapeutic peace and tranquility. NB is peaceful and slower paced than a lot of the faster paced locales in the DMV, folks should at least give the beach and town a shot to visit. It is a DMV day-trip destination for sure!

Thomas Point Park in Annapolis is a county park that offers beautiful views of the Thomas Point Lighthouse, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the bay in general. There is a pavilion that can be rented and a day camping area but I believe what makes this park so popular in the summer months is that its a good fishing spot. As the name implies, the park is on a point of land that jets out into the bay offering great views of the water year round. From November through March visitors can drive into the park without paying a fee. But if you are wanting to drive into the park April though October then you need to obtain a permit and I think they can be a bit tricky to come by. Permits are sold at Quiet Waters Park and sold on a limited first come, first served basis. A limited number of daily permits are sold each morning and a total of 75 monthly permits are sold each month on the last Thursday of the prior month. So yeah, a little tricky but its understandable that admission to this small park, which is accessible through a residential neighborhood, needs to be limited.

We did try crabbing but didn't have much luck. Since the pier is really high, you need a lot of string and a long crabbing net. We had a lot of fun!

This park has a beautiful, long drive way with nice trees especially during fall time with fall leaves and foilage going towards the entrance which is tucked away and far off from 301 main road. The park has a nice elevator/stair wooden lift that can take you to the top to see the Patuxent river. I would not recommend though if afraid of heights, but it is a nice view. The park is peaceful. Pretty trails with forests and boardwalks with water on each side. I would not advise coming here after a storm/rain, but it is scenic and nice for walking and can definitely test your balance, just make sure not to slip and fall from boardwalk into the water. My only gripe is the volunteer at the visitor center was not particularly nice, welcoming, and did not want to help/guide us. She was a bit standoffish and unapproachable, but that did not stop us from having fun and enjoying the trails and scenery.

Our host had recommended this spot and it did not disappoint. We got a couple dozen crabs and some shrimp and we were stuffed. The crabs were fresh, as I was literally waiting for them to come in from the fisherman in the morning., and waited outside for them to be cooked. The crabs were sweet and stuffed. We loved them! This is a pick up spot, they do not have dine in. I would call in the order as early as you can when they open. I'm sure they run out at some point.

Getting there was a little tricky since parking is street-only, so I highly recommend arriving early like we did. We were able to find a spot without issue, but I can imagine it getting tougher later in the day. It was also a bit confusing at first since you have to walk through a closed marina gate marked "No Trespassing" to get to the dock. Thankfully, a crew member from Miss Susie met us at the second gate and escorted us to the boat (Miss Susie III). Once onboard, both the captain and his mate were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely funny. They gave us a clear walkthrough of what to expect and were very patient with the first-timers in our group. Everyone felt comfortable, even those new to fishing (and there were several). We had modest hopes and just wanted to catch a few fish but ended up catching over 50 catfish between the seven of us! It seemed like non-stop action, and everyone on board was raving about the experience afterwards. Several folks even said they hoped we'd do it again and I guarantee you that we will. This is very likely becoming a yearly tradition! If you're looking for a fun, well-run charter experience with a great crew, I can't recommend Miss Susie Charters enough. We had a blast!

We were a group of nine adults and one child with this being the first time for most of the group. We didn't catch our limit of fish but everyone had a great time on the water. I can honestly say that they gave us their best. We moved around when nothing was biting and we did not stop trying. We obeyed all laws and threw back all that were under 19 inches , which seem to be more than what we could keep. Had fun! Next time We'll try an early morning trip.

This is such a cute little park!…read more There is a decently sized pond with koi fish and goldfish. There are walk paths that wind throughout the park with a couple of cute bridges. What really makes this park unique is the fact that it has so much local art. A few of the sculptures are permanent, but a number of them are planned to be rotated over time. My favorite sculptures were the ones made out of driftwood - they are both beach-y and very neat to look at. It's a nice place to stop by if you're visiting the area, and it it right off of the North Beach boardwalk.
