Dr. Lally "raises the bar' as a surgeon, and as a medical care professional that ensures your arrival and departure from her office are an excellent experience. Her level of experience as a surgeon and detail oriented nature allow you to trust in her recommendations for your best eye care solutions. I can see vividly now, and also this procedure has eliminated the extensive 'eye strain' required to previously see details. I am learning to relax the muscles around my eyes, and less tension is less headaches. One last thought, follow the post op care instructions to the letter. Four months later after returning from an extended trip abroad I saw her again. At this visit, she stated that now I had WMD (Wet Mascular Degeneration) and required afilbercept injections. When I asked why this condition had not been identified during my initial evaluation, she responded that "it happens sometimes" I received 3 injections with no improvement. I monitor my vision daily using an Amsler grid, and I have never observed distortion or changes. When I asked about proceeding with cataract surgery she told me I need additional injections space 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks apart and that my cataract was only mild -- contradicting her earlier assessment. I sought a second opinion from another opthalmologist (Retinal Diagnostic Center) who confirmed that I do not have WMD and do not require injections For 3 injections, more than $5000 was billed to my insurance and I paid nearly $600 in copays Based on my experience, I do not find this physician trustwortthy. She did not provide clear explanations or review my imaging with me and her assessments were inconsistent

I…read morehad gone to a Kaiser Retina Specialist and was told that he felt the risks of having surgery outweighed the benefits, so he didn't want to do it. Eventually I changed my medical insurance and my new primary doctor recommended Dr. Wieland for my macular pucker. After examining me, he could not understand why the Kaiser doctor recommended against the surgery. He made me feel very comfortable and confident that surgery would be the right decision. The day of the surgery, Dr. Wieland and his team made me feel calm, comfortable and safe, and it was actually an amazing experience! After the surgery, my eyesight has noticeably improved. I am so grateful to Dr. Wieland for helping me to make the decision to have the surgery, and for his skill and professionalism throughout the whole process. I am very happy with the results!

My surgeon left Stanford and I have been doing my annual visits with Dr wang from last 3 years. Given my history, I was understandably anxious about new visual symptoms. Dr. Wang's credentials and expertise are impressive, and I appreciated that he was able to examine my retina and confirm that he did not see any new tears, holes, or signs of retinal detachment. But the check was barely even for a minute. I left the appointment feeling that I would have benefited from more explanation and discussion. My symptom was new and unusual, and because it was in the same eye that had previously detached, I had many questions about possible causes and what I should watch for going forward. The visit felt very brief, and I would have appreciated a little more time to understand his assessment and next steps. I respect Dr. Wang's expertise and the reassurance that my retina looked stable. My feedback is that spending a few additional minutes explaining findings and addressing patient concerns would make the experience even better, especially for patients with a history of retinal surgery who may come in feeling anxious. Overall, I appreciate his knowledge and I hope future visits allow for a little more patient discussion and education.

If you have all day to wait and wait, then this would be the right office visit for you. I had an appointment on Thursday May 23rd, 2019 for eye irritation. I arrived at 2:42pm to check in and sign my forms for my appointment that was originally scheduled at 2:50pm. It took me about 8 minutes to fill out the forms and one of the medical assistant kindly took me back on time and she did Cheif Complaint and an Eye Exam on me which took about 10 minutes. As soon as the assistant was done she had informed me that the doctor would be in to check my vision. When the MA stepped out of the room she left the room door wide open and well I waited. Every employer would walk past my room and not tell me a single thing or at least to apologize for the waiting so LONG. It was 3:48pm and a Doctor told me that he would be in shortly. Overall, I was there for at least 2 hours and was only seen for least 10 minutes. I waited more than what it took for the doctor to see me. Today, I came back for a 1 week follow up thinking it wouldn't take as long as my previous office visit, so I decided to come back because I really need to know what is wrong with my eyes and the longer I wait the more Severe it can get. Well my original appointment was at 8:10am and I was taken back on time by the assistant again and she had me wait. It was 9:05am when a Nurse stepped into my room and informed me that Doctor Carey was running 20 minutes behind as of 9:05am. So you are telling me I've been waiting 45 minutes and until then someone finally offered to inform me that he was running behind? Again.. overall, I was not seen by the doctor until 9:30am. Never again will I be coming back to this place. It was very convenient for me because I live a block away from this place. But this place does not care about their patients and they just have you sitting here all day like if you don't have to go back to work or anything like that. Dr. Carey is a great Doctor very knowledgeable and nice, but this place is not for me. I don't have time to wait for over an hour or more. I have to get back to work and take care of my patients as well.

On Saturday morning, I was at work and started noticing random flashing light in my right eye at…read morearound 4am. Knowing I'm at a higher risks for having retina detachment due to being severely near sighted, it was a huge concern. Immediately gave my optometrist a call to his emergency contact number as soon as I got off shift. Unfortunately, he wasn't in the office that day, but he knew the severity of a possible retina detachment (blindness) so gave me numbers to 2 other eye surgery centers in town. Once again, neither places could see me until at least Monday. Lucky for me, since we were planning on driving up north to the Bay Area that day already, I figured I might as well contact one of the eyes surgery centers here. I saw California Retina Institute on google search shows to open 24/7, thought it was odd, but I gave them a call anyway. To my surprise, Dr. Silva picked up the call himself. Told him my symptoms and that we live several hours away, was hoping he could get me in the next day. Astonishingly, he said he could see me the same day, and asked if 7pm would be enough time for us to get to the office A little of his background, which I had to make sure I look it up before hand, in case I'd end up needing to get surgery from him, which I did. Graduated from Harvard, Cambridge, Stanford, and Wharton university, respectively. Just seeing that was more than impressive enough for me, moreover, he's been on faculty staff at Stanford University since 2014. As we were driving, he called me personally from his cellphone to see where we were at, and if we were arriving earlier, he could see me earlier if needs to due to the urgency of the matter. Since he was going back n forth between his office and Stanford University, he decided to have us come to Stanford University Eye Institute instead since it'd work out better time n distance wise. When we arrive, it was obviously after hour, the building was locked, but he met up with us personally and immediately took me in to start running different eye exams. It ended up being a retina tear, which wasn't as critical as retina detachment, but if left untreated, there's a 50/50% chance of it ends up detaching eventually within days or weeks. Evidently, it was a no brainer for me to say yes to surgery. Once again, I thought I'd have to at least come back the next day for it, since it was almost 8pm, to my disbelief, Dr.Silva said he could do it right away, which would only take about 5mins, no need for any anesthesia. He did a laser treatment which helped seal the tear. It wasn't painful at all, just a little uncomfortable when super bright light keeps shooting straight into your eyeball for a good 10secs, several rounds. This was 100% the BEST medical experience I have had with any provider or facility. I really can't recommend or rave enough about Dr. Silva and California Retina Institute! If you have any major eyes issues, I highly highly recommend Dr. Silva!

Upon arriving in an extremely panicked state I was taken care of by his staff in a very efficient manner and then examined by the doctor. He was informative, concise and very responsive to my questions and his manner immediately put me in a more relaxed state. The necessary surgery was performed right then! WOW! I am now two weeks post surgery and recovering nicely (yay!). I simply cannot recommend his services highly enough. Let me start off by saying, that Doctor Chow is very nice, easy going, and he is extremely competent in this abilities. He has the latest technology, he has multiple offices, and all of my interactions with him have been very positive. He is very firmly in command in the operating room, I was always extremely comfortable with his technical abilities, attention to detail, and professionalism. He is hands down, a great Doctor, and fantastic at what he does. I would imagine he was at the top of his class(s), I would bet money on that. I always felt comfortable with Dr Chow right from the beginning, and that feeling was only reinforced stronger with each visit. His office staff are nothing but the best, very professional, kind, attentive and everyone I met and interacted with was always great!
