Ryan McKinnon, M.D…read more If you're reading this to determine if Dr. McKinnon is a good eye surgeon, my experience with cataract removal and lens replacement was excellent - not one hiccup. He and his staff are the best, no matter the clinical setting, office, or surgery. If you want to know why I feel this way, read on. My first ophthalmologist left the group. Dr. McKinnon was hired and became my eye physician. On my first visit with him, I asked how he came to be hired by the group. He replied personably and professionally, with a transparent smile, and, perhaps because I explained to him that I am mildly hearing impaired, an articulate voice and direct eye contact. Presurgery, I was concerned that I would be awake for the procedure. Forty years prior, I had been awake for eye surgery. It was an awful experience. However, I was assured by both of Yuma Regional's anesthesiologists that it would not happen and that I likely wouldn't remember the procedure. Thankfully, I did remember both surgeries. I remained aware but incredibly relaxed throughout both surgeries. Forty years as a mental health therapist, I am an observer, and I thoroughly enjoyed observing the surgical team, from prep to post. However, after the second surgery, I did take an hour's nap post-op. And it was a good one! The staff wanted me to rest and never rushed me. After retirement, I took up photography, a hobby that blossomed into a second career. But my vision seemed to be getting worse by the day. A few weeks prior, I was hired to do the photography for a book. I worried the surgeries might interfere with my obligations. But they didn't. The day after the first surgery, I did my first shoot without an eye patch. I could see better than when I was a young adult. Colors were bolder and in more shades than I had ever remembered perceiving. And the second surgery returned my full vision, including the peripheral and a greater sense of depth. Although I had elected to correct my vision for distance rather than reading, I can now see for both. I require glasses for the fine details of photography, but believe it or not, I am writing this review on my cellphone without visionwear! I delivered on my employer's expectations. Even better, I was hired for another project by a second employer. Am I satisfied with the services I received from Dr. Ryan McKinnon and Yuma Regional Medical Center? You betcha!

I had a concern that he brushed off, and ignored me when I voiced concern and talked over me when I explained what the issues were. Now I have gotten the 2nd eye done, and was assured by Dr. Wallman that I would not have to deal with him, and, they won't make an appointment with anyone BUT him. So now I have no aftercare for my surgery unless I want to go out of town. Terrible company.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes, two weeks apart, and I am happy with the results. I felt no…read morepain during or after surgery, including no pain from I.V. needles. I had never been under anesthesia before, but everything went smoothly. My surgeon was Dr. Wallmann. He and all the staff were attentive, meticulous, and pleasant. Many thanks to everyone! After surgery, I felt mild pressure in the eye and had mild bloodshot which went away. I had occasional episodes of scratchiness, but it has mostly gone away. When they remove your eye patch, they will give the patch to you and it can be used again. You will need tape, which you can buy at the 99-cent store and at any pharmacy. You will need wrap-around sunglasses, which you can buy at Walgreen's for $14.95 to $19.95. You will need lubricant eyedrops, which you can buy in a twin-pack at Walmart for $10.83. If you need readers, you can get nice ones at Walmart for as little as $5.88 (women's). My personal advice (not intended as medical advice) -- follow the pre-op and post-op instructions, and take your meds as prescribed. Call them if you have any concerns after surgery. Dr. Elliott H. Snyder at the Aiello Eye Institute in Yuma has been my primary follow-up doctor for…read moremy eye care since recently undergoing cataract surgery in both eyes. He has been particularly meticulous with my prescriptions for progressive lenses as I have severe stigmatisms in both eyes requiring prisms in both lenses. I let him know ahead of time that I have always had prisms so that would be addressed foremost. He has given me very sharp 20-20 vision in both eyes with no shadows or double images. I have also dealt with a couple of eye pressure spikes since the cataract surgery and he has immediately addressed those issues, even making himself and a technician available on a Saturday follow-up when the clinic is normally closed. I'm a happy camper!

I left with the prescription after receiving a hurried exam. When I took my prescription to the glasses dispensary I asked how much extra $ for prism that I was accustomed to paying. They told me that my prescription from Snyder had no prism. Had I not asked, I would have been out several hundred. I went back and they did another exam and corrected my RX. A very negligent error.

They are a modestly large specialty medical practice with offices throughout Arizona. A quick search shows they are owned by Cencora. Online sources claim Cencora is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world with partnership ties to Regeneron. This looks like a vertical monopoly, manufacturing, distributing, and controlling direct to the client services. Retinal Consultants of Arizona (RCA here after) sees my mother for retinal care. I took over my mother's finances a little over a year ago when my father died. In all that time I have never seen a single bill from RCA. Not a bill. Not a statement. Not even a request to cover a co-pay. Last week I received a collection notice from a collection agency on behalf of RCA. All I could think is wow. They gave the correct address to the collection agency. I'm sure they could have mailed us a bill. About 6-8 months ago I stood there face to face with RCA employees and asked about any balances due. They stated they would have somebody with their main office get in touch. I'm not sure which main office that would be, but RCA lists five "Main Offices" on their website. Nobody reached out to me. In my opinion that is highly suspicious. This week my mom had an appointment. I asked up front for billing, explained she had been sent to collections without ever having seen a bill, and offered them the opportunity to refuse service if their was a legitimate unpaid balance, or they could call their main office and have somebody talk to me. I was told, "There is nobody available to talk with you about this." I was stunned. Now I know they probably can't collect an amount that has been turned over for collections, but to not even be able to tell us why we have not received a bill, or provide billing details is really egregious. Now, I suspect there are other things going on as well. I can't prove them but the optics are not good. Regeneron has the distribution rights to a medication my mother gets at her visits. Regeneron is in partnership with Cencora. If they play games with billing, don't bill or don't bill properly with Medicare & United Health, & fail to get prior authorizations they might try to collect the full retail price from my mother. Its a very expensive medication. A single dose costs more than twice her monthly take home from Social Security. From the outside it looks like they may be playing fast and loose with Medicare and United health to the financial detriment of their clients. I can't prove it. It just has that look and feel. After talking with the doctor at my mom's most recent visit I am 99.999999% certain they never got a prior authorization for the medication. I don't know if Medicare or United Health has paid them... because I never received a bill from RCA. During the time period in question there was what appears to be a less than amicable change of venue for RCA's Yuma office. Previously they had been using the facilities of Southwest Eye, and currently they are using the facilities of Aiello Eye Clinic. There may be some games being played there as well regarding billing, and who billed and got paid. It could be contributing to my mother's billing issue. I don't know, but again the optics are not good. During the prescription refill debacle detailed below we got what I perceived as indications of hostility from Southwest Eye. Now as I looked into RCA, Cencora, and Regeneron I was told by a couple different people that Southwest Eye is also now owned by Cencora. I have not verified that from a 100% trusted sources, but people at RCA were among the sources. In my opinion this has the feel of a corporate shell game designed to make it difficult for small players like my mom or me on her behalf to figure out what they are doing. After getting nowhere with the staff I spoke to the doctor my mom sees. We got nowhere with him, but he did say multiple times they had heard the same complaint about patients being turned over to collections in spite of never having received a bill. He said it twice. Multiple? It sure sounds suspicious to me that multiple patients have this particular complaint. If they gave the correct address to the collection agency they have the correct address to send a bill. The doctor at first tried to say, "I am just an employee and I have nothing to do with that." Maybe not just an employee. I ran across a business card and under his name it says PARTNER. Complaints have been filed.

She started by Interrupting me when I was trying to tell her why was there and then she started to chastise me for not bringing a pill bottle that I forgot because I came to the pointment directly after work , she made snarky rude comments "This not how you establish yourself with a new doctor"..I said well I do have this information electronically. She said stupidly " You have electronic medicine?" I was perturbed at this point and said "Didn't the nurse just hand you my record? "She said My question was to you not the nurse". I went in for a different reason. The first time I was a walk in, his office is very busy. (Tip: schedule an appointment) even so, Dr Flores still made time to fit me in. This is my second visit. I can honestly say that Dr Flores was able to diagnose my problem correctly and my condition has improved so much. Im so so happy. He made me feel listened to, and cared for me, which is why I highly recommend him.
