As an extremely satisfied customer today, I offer my experience as an illustration of how well-meaning companies can suffer unexpected headwinds, sustain damage, regroup, and then return to the track, albeit with bruises from the experience. I read the comments on this site with great interest and degrees of agreement with the sentiments of frustration and distrust expressed by a few unhappy customers. Actually, I easily could have been one of them. My order also was caught up in the same downdraft that generated some of the negative reviews that mark this company's stumble last year. Other than several telephone conversations, I had no prior experience with Steve before his pickup of our old outdoor furniture that badly needed restoration. I was impressed with his serious demeanor and professionalism as we discussed the fact that I was in no great rush to receive the furniture back in short order. A routine report from Steve some months later revealed that a production issue had developed. My interest remained in quality over speed, so I was happy to grant additional time. When his intended delivery date slipped several times, I contacted him about the source of the delay. I learned that he had been hit hard by labor problems, a condition that had thrown his output behind the eight ball. Having spent 30 years as a sole proprietor, I understood the nature of his dilemma, and set aside my concern for the return of my furniture. He was sincerely distressed about the extended repair/delivery time as he continued working toward internal solutions. Ultimately, he delivered a pristine job that was showroom worthy. The multiple pieces looked brand new. I could not be more pleased with his work. I have not kept up with Steve's production capability since then, but I suggest that a simple conversation with him would provide an accurate assessment of his delivery capability. I believe that you can count on him to give you a firm delivery date, based on his current labor and production capability. Rhea Rippey Maple Shade Gallatin, TN

Mr. Alex Lima can turn water into wine...probably, because if he can make an old vintage leather…read moreseat cushion transform its life into a new seat cushion then I would say he has miraculous capabilities. I brought an old Fairfield leather office chair that I paid $25 at a second hand store. I knew the brand very well, so I knew its worth (try $1,500-$3,500 easily). I saw past the ripped seat, and I thought that it would be less expensive to have the seat re-leathered than to purchase a new chair in the same brand which is true in theory; however, the price of the leather panels were far beyond what I wanted to pay for a chair that I only wanted to place into my work office space, so I didn't want to invest a lot of money. Alex helped me search through fabric swatches and I found what I thought was unique and went with my theme of traditional elegance with a touch of interesting movements in that space. Viola! Mag's had what I was looking for, and Alex gave me price that was fair. He told me I could pay when I returned and I left with his word that he would call me in a couple of weeks. True to his word, Alex called me and I dropped in to pick up my baby. I was so pleasantly surprised and pleased when I saw the beautiful new seat cushion. Alex is simply a wonderful artist with a eye for perfection because he added a little more padding to provide the right depth the seat needed to the final sewing. I almost did not recognize the cushion if it weren't for the fabric. Alex and his genius hands made this seat cushion sparkle. I highly recommend Mag's for your refurbishing desires of any seat you need. Alex is a master at his craft and clearly he takes pride in his work. I am already thinking about something else I may want to do in the future. Thank you Alex and Mag's Upholstery!

So, I said OK. I bought more fabric at another place to ensure the next purchase of fabric wouldn't be lost. When I took that in, they told me they had no record of my buying fabric or having a credit. Then, I showed them their paperwork and the receipt from American Express which I had taken a photo of on my phone. They told me that they did not believe it because it was not the yellow piece of paper they had given me originally but just a picture of it. I was OK with their losing my fabric. I am not OK with them not honoring the financial agreement. I asked to be reimbursed. They refused to do even this. So, I'm taking this up with American Express. One other thing is I asked them about their recordkeeping. I was told they didn't really keep records. I explained they needed to in order to file taxes and then to keep the records in case of an audit. I was told they didn't bother with any of that. It all seemed very unorganized and suspicious to me as well as my adult son who was with me.
