If you value your mental health do not walk through the doors. FIND ALTERNATE CAREGIVERS…read more Unfortunate that a place that is a NON-PROFIT this is all for profit and not their clients needs. They attempt to monopolize on your sickness and make them your EXCLUSIVE provider. (With horrific care, no appointments, poor leadership, broken elevators, and poor health care all around) Disaster from day one at initial intake process. Till last day walked out in total disparity. If you are competent and have any common sense this is NOT the place for you. It's for way under functioning CAPACITY individuals. You spend more time chasing their employees to do their job. IOP- DBT- Jenna is amazing, but the passive aggressive attitude from one of the clinicians isn't very helpful. But they do the best they can. Honestly you get in what you put out here. Case Management: 2nd biggest failure with this company. Requested case management at initial intake 7/18. 1st the request "glitched" and was never received.... Spend every day after iop trying to follow up. Finally got a meeting with LISA RAND who had all these great things to say and would get someone to help me. Gave me a case worker that was never there. But no one would tell me why. They (front desk) would say I'll send a message to her. I had an eviction case to prepare for and the case manager never showed up. Then when the office finally tracked her down she came down and said "well, let's go" like I did something wrong sitting there waiting for 45 minutes.... I was not comfortable meeting with this individual so requested a new case manager. Then I was the bad guy.... The excuse offered was that she was in a meeting in a dead zone then ended with celebrating Lisa Rands surprise birthday..... New case manager was nice and TRUTHFUL. Just not very helpful for my situation. HOUSING: LIES LIES LIES DO NOT BELIEVE THEM THAT THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU WITH HOUSING. They lie and will string you along. I was feed so many lies that I'm now living in my car. I'm glad that I have their housing manager BOBBI JO on recording lying about housing and back stepping from things previously said. I was told Because of my severe medical conditions that I could be bumped up THE WAITLIST so I wouldn't be homeless and living in my car. I was also told that LISA AND BOBBI JO were working with the Columbus house med res floor for when the eviction happened. After being told 4 different things from 4 different people I met with Kathleen , Lisa and BobbiJo whereas they looked at me like I had 10 heads and was purple.... Clearly there was a severe communication problem or something was wrong. There is an email stating the previous" working on solutions for client" and is now being denied it exists. Too bad others already said it does and IT will pull it. Many of the mental health agencies around the state send people to BH care for their housing because that is what they are told and unfortunately BH care does nothing. Tina Marie is empathetic thinks on her feet goes up and above to provide excellent to care. Tina Marie can find a solution and does anything she can to provide you with the most comfortable safe detox possible with a smile that lights up the room. Sephora also is an excellent nurse with patience and compassion who helped me continuously with a smile. The physician assistant Antionnette also understands the alcoholic attic dual diagnosed and understands that care is not just a cookie cutter fit every alcoholic or attic has different medical needs and yes this nursing staff sees you as the beautiful person you are. Anna is an amazing tech there who goes over and above and works diligently does her job exceptionally. As I was going to bed I looked over and three patients were just surrounding her because she is empathetic but also instills wisdom sobriety care and concern for each one that contributed to sobriety. Helen is also a five star employee she is efficient keeps her word and will take a moment just to chat to the broken hearted like me. I have attended Sunrise three times and always felt loved and cared for and could see that everyone was doing there best . Tyrone and all the techs are quite amazing. Housekeeping does their best but sometimes cannot get everything thing done because one girl on a day is not enough. Here is what saddens me something has broken at Sunrise. I as an alcoholic an attic of course am not perfect and can be hard to handle and my behavior can be inappropriate. I can tell you what my concerns are for you the next patient. During this stay I was let down many times I was told to keep my word I cannot tell you how many requests where I was told yes I'll help you and then hours would pass and nothing. I believe administration is at fault. The center takes all your toiletries and places them in a box and in the morning you ask for them to shower after a few days of someone saying yes I'll get them and then it never happens . I had no shampoo but you can get it at the desk well I did ask and there was no body wash or shampoo I had to wash my self with my sock as a wash cloth and use soap from a dispenser three times there because I could not get my needs met to take care of myself. Also the counseling staff I believe is doing the best they can but they are stretched out to the max and what I found is no team work there if you need a phone card or if you would like to drink soda or purchase cigarettes you must fill out a form and you are told they will be filled by 11. This is not true bring your unsealed cigarettes if you can because everyday except for when Jessica is handling it this never happened so you follow the rules fill out the form and then time and again the be they were not processed until three four or five and you must stay vigillant and keep asking over and over till you know you are being a nuisance but realize you must to get your order processed they used to have drivers to get u there and get you home be prepared to get yourself home. I lived in Syracuse the last time had to Uber to penn to get on the Amtrak very alone felling very vulnerable and now put in a high risk situation to drink. is very dangerous to say to someone by take care bye and be left on the curb. The administration was neglectful there are four counselors in total and if one is extremely busy and I needed help there was another just out there sitting in the vitals chair shooting the breeze while at least four patients needed something I asked this counselor to help me process something or could you help me with phone card and was told no I am not your counselor. I was very confused at my job we work as a team and if my coworker is busy I help them as best I can even though I'm not assigned to that area I can help we have the same job title I do it. Also I was neglected ignored lied to mislead asked for help with calling my eap asked for paperwork stating where I was told yes and again no follow thru I asked to call my eap rep but because I was not following theirsuggetion I was told I cannnot help you. I was then passed by ignored neglected and abused from that moment on.i asked to see counselor was told yes and it never happened. I needed to address my truth and life. I couldn't go to the rehab they wanted me to I had to go home first to prepare I was then told I can't help you when never received any paperwork was ignored from there forward and also neglected my parent was coming to get me and no one told me they just kept walking by me as I sat in filthy clothes and was refused my clean clothes and laundry detergent the administrative assistant abused her power and was dishonest st I saw counselors and administration who have lost the There way. I pray sunrise will shine again. anything is possible. I am grateful I am sober .

So for three months I had to go to this outpatient class and eventually see the psychiatrist. The psychiatrist was extremely strict but fair. I walked everyday, got a full time job, with the help of a very nice lady who worked there. But my problem was with how my clinician lied to me and when it came time for me to start this program, They said they didn't do it. I was so mad I just left and never went back. The outpatient clinicians never believed you but they would believe the guy passed out with white powder in his nose that's he's just "tired". I felt sooo betrayed. Dr. Straun was always accommodating for my needs, and truly helped me get my life back on track. He provided support for my recovery and also helped immensely with a legal issue by providing supporting documentation, which was one of the most pivotal supports ive ever had and ultimately allowed me to continue with my treatment and improve my life. THe entire team was very supportive and went out of their way on occasion to get me the help and support I needed. Most times dealing with larger clinics or facilities can be a pain, they are not as efficient or concerned as they should be, and this can be detrimental to a persons recovery. Dr. Straun's clinic was anything but that, and provided a deep sense of community where everyone was equally involved in group therapy sessions. I felt that Mr. Straun and his team not only developed a professional and clinical relationship with me, but also a personal one. This is what makes a good psychiatrist stand out, their relationship with their patients and how involved they truly are in their recovery or treatment. I would highly recommend Dr. Straun to anyone seeking treatment for addiction or mental health, and that Dr. Straun will not just help you by prescribing medication ( like some doctors), but by also focusing on the underlying factors such as mental health or past trauma with a specific treatment plan. If you want to feel part of a larger community and support group, Dr. Straun and his team are the perfect choice to help you begin your treatment and find a way to recovery with people that truly care about your well-being.

I am deeply disappointed with the level of care and service provided at Guilford House. My…read moreexperience as a visitor here has been far from satisfactory, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a supportive and nurturing environment for their loved ones. First and foremost, the treatment of patients leaves much to be desired by most of the staff. It is heartbreaking to witness residents being neglected and not receiving the attention or care they deserve. Room bells ringing, eventually someone enters turns off the bell light and continues on their way. Awful. Simply awful treatment. The staff appears to be too busy to attend to even the most basic needs of the patients, which is utterly unacceptable in a facility that is supposed to provide round-the-clock care. Oddly enough there is plenty of time to talk at the nurses station about personal appointments and watch TV all in the Library while patients are waiting for assistance. Time and again, I have heard the same excuse: "We are understaffed." While understaffing is a legitimate issue, it shouldn't be used as a justification for the lack of compassion and dedication required in such a critical field. Leadership should prioritize hiring and training more qualified empathetic staff to ensure that residents are receiving the highest standard of care being paid for. When a patient is at the end-of-life stage, it is very inappropriate to hear for an RN "We've all been through it" Well, that may be a correct statement but very inappropriate during an extremely difficult time. An RN takes the Nightingale Pledge " devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care". Care for the patients as if they were your loved ones. Patients should not be in a position of waiting an excessive amount of time especially if they are a fall risk. Remember patients are in need of care or they wouldn't be there, and the staff would not have jobs! Arrogance and unprofessionalism is what I would call the majority of the staff. Retraining and an overhaul are what is needed. While a private room might be nice, the quality of the rooms is awful. Holes in the walls, some patched unpainted walls, stained carpets, filthy bathrooms. The dietary selections leave much to be desired. I can't even image what the kitchen looks like. When a family is faced with needing a facility, this is one that should not be recommended. The facility is in dire need of improvement, both in terms of staffing and management practices. It is crucial for those in charge to address these issues promptly to create a more positive and caring environment. Until significant changes are made, I cannot in good conscience ever recommend this facility to anyone.
