Wow, Patel Brothers has stepped up their game as of late. The variety of items in the store is unparalleled. The produce items are much more interesting now because you can get things like jack fruit, that you couldn't get anywhere else. The desserts are rather tasty and nutritious. You can always count on the basics like spices, grains and dried beans. I love going here to load up on spices because you get so much more for less. You can even get whole spices if you have a grinder, which makes for very good tasting meals. I am so glad that we have Patel Brothers, what a great place! read more

The people who run this store are (were, at the old store) just as unfriendly and unhelpful. I have been a repeat customer for many years, but not once have I been acknowledged, nodded at, greeted, smiled at, or thanked for giving them business. Why do I keep going back? All other Indian stores closed and they have ingredients only this store has (fresh methi leaves, fresh dill, etc.). So expect too feel their attitude of "pay and get out." read more

Stopped in here on our way to Olive Garden and picked up a drink and fruit. Fruits and veggies seemed nice and fresh. They carried a couple of varieties of apple - gala, Fuji, and red delicious - and a couple varieties of banana. There were also a lot of other fresh items that were just beautiful to look at. They also had some hot items for sale that it looks like they make there. In the refrigerated section they had a couple of lassi varieties and other juices and drinks, which was nice. There was a great variety of rices, mixes, and such, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak the bulk items where you would usually help yourself were empty. Tons of free parking and the people seemed really nice. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely return! read more

Great place to get Indian products. The produce section doesn't always look so fresh, but they do offer some of the cheapest Cilantro in the area. One place were Patel Brothers really shines is in the spice aisle. While they can't compete with Penzey's, they do offer lots of unique and hard to find spices. The frozen food case is loaded with Indian products you can't find anywhere else. They also offer a good selection of Indian hair care products and dyes. My go to item every time I visit is the Maaza Mango Juice. It is so good and you can't find it anywhere else. Probably the most complete Indian grocery store in Pittsburgh. Patel Brothers in Monroeville is a haven for folks who like Indian groceries and snacks. The store is located in a plaza at Monroeville, parking won't be an issue here. They have wide variety of collections that covers fresh produce, fresh Indian snacks, frozen Indian dinners etc. This is our preferred store within Pittsburgh, we love the options we have here and we also love the freshly made snacks. This is my first time at this Indian store. I have been to several others (Robinson township, Greentree, Shadyside & the one on Banksville Road)... This is by far the biggest & the most spacious Indian store in the Pittsburgh area. The vegetables were fresh & I was surprised to find so many choices of fish... albeit frozen. There was also an extensive variety of Indian snacks, cookies & spices all reasonable priced. If only it weren't so out of the way for me, I would have definitely frequented this store more often. read more

A awesome Indian grocery store right off the Monroeville exit that is stocked filled with anything & everything you need for Indian cooking. The vegetables are a hit & miss. But you can find very good produce most of the times at reasonable prices. Also the cilantro is dirt cheap here. For out 79 cents you get a huge bunch. They also have a good variety of frozen food, and dried spices, lentils, and even cooking equipment. Don't miss out on the desi mixture snacks in the huge barrels to your left as you enter. They are priced well and taste great with a cup of chai. They also always have the latest Bollywood movie on DVD, which you can BUY for for $2! This is definitely a great place to go if you are in need of some Indian staples. read more

Absolutely wonderful grocery store. They have everything you need to make Indian food. We travel up from WV to stock up and are never disappointed. We buy all of our spices, paneer, and nuts here for delicious dishes. We also grab some samosas to snack on, on the ride home. They have a good variety of rices, they sell plantains (often a tough find in the burgh), and on the weekends around 12pm, they have fresh Samosa-great when fresh. As mentioned in a prior review, check packages before you purchase. read more

Most of the indian vegetables are not fresh. products like frozen coconut (delight) are sold without date of produce/expiry. frozen anardana (Swad) packet of anrdana was already expired.Attitude of few workers is too bad.That is because there are no other indian stores as competitors near by. Avoid this Indian store. They have pretty much empty shelves. Their "fresh" vegetables are anything but fresh. None of the people in the store are actually able to or want to help. We are a regular customer and generally understand the risks of shopping at Indian places. We picked a container of Priyems Idli and Dosa batter mix just yesterday and didn't bother to check it by removing the lid. What a mistake. It turned out to be opened and only half-filled. It must have been a returned item or opened accidently when fell to floor and replaced on the shelf. I generally know Patel Brothers is very dishonest from past experience and we have to be careful of the items we shop there. I am not going to be driving 30 miles to make a return and it is going to be a complete waste of money. Please double check everything before you checkout including expiry dates. read more

It's definitely improved over the years since I've been going. Service is great and their products are continually growing. I've seen an improvement in their fresh produce, which is relatively cheaper than big name stores such as giant eagle or shop n save. Prices are fair. Only downside is weekends can be fairly busy, so plan on waiting a bit if you get there during rush hour. read more

Not all but one old lady staff doesn't know what customer service is. I must say she was very rude. I am new to the city and went there searching for indian store from a little far place from there. I reached there but I was out of battery and requested her if she can charge my phone for a while when I am shopping so that I can check my bus route back home, she said NO, I don't have any extra port. I knew she was lying. She doesn't know what humanity is. I asked another lady in another counter and she charged it for me. Also, staffs are busy talking with their own people, they don't care other customers are also there. I rate this place ZERO in case of customer service. read more
