I stuck to the main floor with the clothes, though they do have a second floor with bigger items like tents. I love the set up of the store, though it doesn't seem very friendly for folks who aren't able-bodied with the stairs right at the front entrance. Not super great. The product selection is pretty good, with tons of backpacks and water bottles greeting you as you walk up the stairs to the main floor. The clothing is split between men and women and they seemed to have some pretty decent sales going on. Not going to lie though, I was drawn to the huge selection of socks. A bit weird? Maybe. But there's something so wonderful about a great pair of socks, y'know? Anyway, the Trail Shop is a great independently owned sporting good stores, and if you're in the area I highly recommend checking it out. The staff are friendly and happy to help if you have questions, or to leave you alone if you just want to look around.

Overall, you can expect to find high end brands such as: Arc'teryx, Lolë, North Face and Kuhl.

I was more than delighted to find this place after arriving in Halifax recently for work. To my…read moreeven greater delight it is only a few minute walk from where I am staying. I am from Vancouver Island, one of the Meccas for Fly Fishing and while here my plan is to use some of my spare time productively tying some flies. For those that know fly tying know that it is a bottomless pit of materials, tools, and equipment when it comes to the hobby. This place has a large dedicated section of both flies, fly tying materials/equipment/tools/etc as well as fly fishing rods, reels, clothing and other accessories. I'd say a one stop shop for sure. The guys that work there are both very friendly and helpful, more than willing to help with some advice or recommendations on fly tying materials or colours, etc. The pricing is on par with any other fly fishing store so no complaints there. The only very minor complaint is that they are slow to restock some tying materials, but what they do have in stock is more than enough to satisfy me. Good source of Hardy and other high end reel makers as well so you can go drool over those as well. Their hours are good. Open Mon-Sat 9-6 mon-fri and 9-5 on sat. I've been in the store 3 times in less than a week lol and will be in countless more times in the coming months before I head back west to put my hard work to good use.

Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Gave me great advice as I'm new to the area. Led me to…read morecatch some good fish! Prices are a bit on the higher end but they carry a unique variety of products that are locally productive and hard to find elsewhere. I'll be back!

The first thing that hit me when I walked in was a wonderful sent of tangerine, at least I think that is what it was, the smell was heaven. This place was packed today, I know it was a combination of beautiful weather, Spring Garden and March Break. There was no sign of recession in this store. The line went from the cash right to the back of the store. I could not believe it. And no one was blinking an eye at the cost, $58.00 top, $130.00 jacket, $90.00 pants. I do think some people will choke on the prices, but I believe you will get great quality. Either that or half of Halifax has lost their minds, because I have never seen so many people in a store, and no sale going on. The styles and colours here are a step above the others you will find. They had some great selections. There was one jacket I thought was a pretty good price, the $130.00 Rain Jacket.

While I'll admit that at first, I found this to be kind of neat, I have come to find it to be very distracting and lacking professionalism. Inside, the staff members were quite friendly and eager to assist. While I had gone there with the intention of buying a work-out t-shirt, after discovering that one of the cheapest and most basic t-shirts was $58, which by the way was made overseas, I decided against the purchase. I then went and checked out the exercise pants, and while I agree, they were some of the nicest exercise pants I had ever seen, I simply could not justify paying $98 + tax for a pair of work-out pants. Needless to say, I left the store once again, empty handed, and am continuing to wonder how work-out clothing can demand such high prices.
