Only a couple of vendors caught our eyes since the rest were well produces and bread, not that we don't love bread it was just a lot and I was only in two for a couple of more days. The sourdough bread looks incredible though, we just got some sweet dessert and baba ganoush to eat with the heirloom tomatoes. I think there was another farmer market on sunday at Sterling, will be going to that one next time I'm back in town.

We got a sugarbaby watermelon for $13 and some beautiful brightly yellow flowers for $20. The flowers were so vibrant and beautiful--what a wonderful bouquet at such a reasonable price! The sugarbaby watermelon was juicy and ripe and it was heavy and full of water. They also take card which is convenient!

One Christmas, when we went to pay for our tree, they wouldn't accept our money and instead told us to put it toward an extra or bigger gift for our girls. In a world where everything can feel so transactional, meeting people who are this generous and kindhearted is incredibly special. The Brossmans are the kind of people who remind you how much goodness still exists in the world. You can tell how much heart they put into their farm, their community, and the people who visit them.

Like another reviewer mentioned, the produce tent on the left when you first come in has the most delicious peaches, plums and apples I've ever had, much better than the ones I picked at the Orchard! Magic Mikes BBQ is delicious!!! Best BBQ locally, inexpensive and friendly! They have the best array of BBQ sauces so you'll have plenty of choices! The basket lady! There are some gorgeous handmade baskets most Sundays where you can buy wonderful market baskets to carry around all of your produce! COWBOY PATRICK! I'm not sure if he's really a cowboy, but he's always happy and smiling wearing a cowboy hat! He's over to the barn on the left towards the road. Has the best fresh local meat and honey that he raises himself! He also goes to the Manassas market on Saturdays but its' way too busy and Manassas also is...well Manassas. Frequently in the summer months they have a portable pizza oven vendor that makes amazing pizzas that you can enjoy in case you're not a BBQ person! The variety of stands you get here trumps almost every other market I've been to in the area. In the warmer months there is a local organic popsicle vendor, a tent where they make birdhouses and creative household items out of old license plates, guacamole, beautiful orchids, pretty lanterns, great jewelry, tasty coffee, a man that handcrafts exquisite knives out of vintage repurposed metal and exotic wood, all the produce you could ask for, local eggs, alpaca wool and items made from alpaca, the cookie man, gluten free desserts...the list goes on!!! It looks like a few vendors will remain midway through November so stock up on everything you can before it's over for winter. But make sure you come back early next year and experience all they have to offer! It really is a wonderful place with some great, friendly people, delicious food and beautiful handmade items (perfect for Christmas presents!!!)

The apples and pears are especially fantastic so I recommend trying and buying some since there are samples of most. If you go right around when it opens it's not too crazy but by 9am it's pretty crowded and I don't recommend parking in (or near) the lot itself. I'm addicted to carbs, so the real reason for my trip is always the bakeries that are tucked into the back of the market next to the lake itself. Nordic Knots has a "Pretzel Croissant" that's amazing. It's basically a really flakey, crisp croissant washed with lye and topped with pretzel salt to give it that real "pretzel" flavor. The pretzels themselves are fine, but the croissant is the pro move. They go quick with some aunties lining up 15 minutes before they open (which is always a bit late). My Cravingz is my true destination and it's basically the last stall in the marked (coming from the parking lot). The Turkish bakery has a cafe in Manassas but there are a few things you can only get here. The guy is always super friendly and is happy to explain the good to anyone unsure. My go-to breakfast is a cheese açma and coffee with a simit and nutella pogaça to go. The açma is one of the best pastries I've ever had. Flakey and buttery like a croissant but with a bit more chew and stuffed to the gills with high-quality feta. They'll warm it up for you on the spot, which I highly recommend if you're eating it there. If you're looking for a heavier breakfast of lunch the borek is great but a bit much for me that early.

I flew to DC for an end of life celebration, looking for something to take to share because grandma said you don't show up with just your hat in your hand. I was blown away at the number of produce vendors. We have a large market at the Pearl in San Antonio and lucky to see two or three produce vendors with limited selection. Parking is the most challenging aspect here. I didn't even try the surface lot as it looked packed. I was able to find street parking a few blocks away. This market must have had at least a dozen produce vendors. And the selection was incredible. The vegetables and tomatoes looked incredible. But I was flying back and could not enjoy them. I did buy some cherries and strawberries to share with the local family. They were so fresh and everyone enjoyed them.

Lovely, reasonably-priced trees on a family farm, and delicious homemade Christmas cookies complimentary with your tree purchase! Our kids loved selecting their own tree, and watching it get cut down and run through the machine that nets its up. Alex and Susan, the owners, are so kind and hospitable. This year when I came out to pre-select our tree, we discovered a shared interest in jam bands and shot the breeze for a while about music and the bands we loved. This is a great place to support local farmers.
