We got the full course meal for £28 and a bottle of pretty good Rosé for £22 to share. Both the food and the service were great. They were very nice in helping us choose to eat something since we speak little French. If we ever come back to Cannes (next two years maybe) we will be coming back here to try their other food.

And hats off to the owner who literally was the only waiter in the packed little restaurant and was serving the wine, making the espressos, bussing tables, taking orders, making desserts, speaking to each table a bit, having a wonderful attitude, and doing it all in good timing to all the satisfied customers. The chef himself even pitched in with helping serve, totally in sync with the owner. These two amazing guys totally changed my and my wife's perspective about how other restaurants are run - especially when tipping here is more of a courtesy and in the states many restaurants just add 18% on to your bill for gratuity regardless of the service you got. I left the owner just 10 euros and he was so thankful and graciously declined but promised he'd give it to the kitchen staff when we insisted that we just had to appreciate them with a tip. Unreal, awesome, classy, can't wait to return.

Tucked in a relatively quiet street (for Nice anyways), Bistrot Gourmand can easily be missed unless you happen to notice 1,100+ highly rated reviews that this gem of a restaurant has garnered. But if you do make it here, you will be treated to not only a culinary euphoria, but also a delightful, memorable service courtesy of the staff led by the Maestro himself, the manager Alex. To start, we noticed that the ambience and the music curated by Alex are different from all the other restaurants we've been to in Paris, Nice, and Monaco. There was an intimate feel that is countered by his fun eclectic musical taste that somehow works together with Alex's charm and bravado to entertain us and other tables (the other two parties were also on first name basis with Alex, as they were returning patrons of the restaurant). After having our orders taken, we were then surprised by our lovely waitress with an off-the-menu presentation of an amuse bouche to whet our appetite for what's to come. It was refreshing and playful. If there was a slight blemish with our meal, it was the Gaspacho de Courgettes (courgette gazpacho with soft-boiled eggs, basil hollandaise, and crispy onion). For my taste, it was a little too polite in flavor and needed the side of housemade brown bread with its slight saltiness to assist it. It was still good, but I would like just a bit more. The good news is that from here on everything it was smooth sailing across our Côte d'Azur of an experience. The wine of choice was Château Malbec Bordeaux, a fantastic red wine with a delicious initial taste and smooth satisfying finish. It was versatile and complimented everyone's dishes. And speaking of dishes, I had the exquisite Linguines à La Crème et Truffe d'été (Linguine with cream and truffle and). Don't let the short description fool you because this dish was heavenly, the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes just you can further savor the delicious flavor and balance of the pasta, the buttery truffle, and surprisingly light Crème sauce that was not heavy on the oil. I simply couldn't get enough with every bite and this is without a doubt my favorite dish from my time in France! If you enjoy beef tartare, you'll definitely enjoy the Tartare de Boeuf, as "prepared with a knife, potatoes with Provencal herbs." Our lovely waitress took tableside center stage as she mixed various ingredients from raw egg and minced raw beef to herbs and Worchister sauce with ease and precision to create a delicious, savory dish full of bold flavors that you can distinctly taste each individual flavor. Finally, the main event arrived upon us as Maestro Alex rolled out his cart to create our dessert, the Crépes Suzette, façon Bistrot Gourmand. This was worth the ticket going in, as the spectacle elevated our dining experience to another level. Pulsed by a mix of a lively music that started with the Rocky theme, Alex really put on a show with panache and enthralling commitment. It was truly a fun spectacle that is best experienced in person. The best part was that the Crépe Suzette was truly magical in its taste. There was sweetness and slight nuttines that paired well together. Since Tour de France 2024 is only a few days away from its Stage 21 finish at Nice, I can confidently say that Bistrot Gourmand is THE summit finish, the culinary highlight of our travels in France. It was the best way we could've ended this last week in France, and it is now the standard that we will judge our foodie experience going forward as we embark into Italy for the next 2 weeks. Florence and Rome have a lot to live of up to now! In the mean time, for any future visits back to Nice, we will definitely dedicate at least one or two dining experience back at Bristot Gourmand. Chapeau Alex and the staff, and hats off to the chef!

It is hard for me to give a bad review at a restaurant where I actually didn't eat the food, but…read morethe service was so bad before the food came, we had no desire to stay. I made a reservation for 4 people, but one person in our party was feeling sick so only 3 people showed up. When the waiter (I think he was also the owner) asked us if we wanted wine, we said no and he scoffed at us (perhaps thinking we wouldn't be spending enough money there). Our friend ended up showing up to dinner to say bye to us. He didn't order any food, because he didn't feel well enough to eat. When he told the waiter he wasn't eating, the waiter took his utensils, took his napkin and threw it at me and shoved the bread basket away from him... and this was after the three of us had already ordered food. It was shockingly rude. None of us had ever experienced that before. When we told the waiter we were no longer interested in eating there anymore. He screamed, "We serve food here, you have to buy food. There's pizza down the street!" This was absolutely the weirdest and rudest experience I've ever had in a restaurant. If you read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, many others have had similar rude experiences too.

I'm afraid people will flock to it, but I have to say how enjoyable it is. Mostly outdoor seating with some internal tables, it is a wine and music place with some food offerings. Over 40 wines available and the owner has picked some great ones. He also curates the music selection which spans from jazz classics to oldies. The food is so honest, tasty and filling, but don't go there for your instagram able food moments. It's food to go with wine. It's all simple and well thought out down to the little glass jar of licorice candies given at the end of the meal. It's mostly a local crowd and can be smoky and loud (which I feel adds to its special character). The owner is the real draw. He and his staff are constantly working, laughing, singing and making you feel like a personal friend. This is a perfect casual and lovely escape from. The tourist traps in Cannes. Currently on a…read moretrip around the southern coast of france and it's been quite lovely but also I don't particularly LOVE the food that I've had so I'm curious how it will keep progressing. La Palme d'Or is named after the most famous award for the Cannes Film Festival and is inside the Hotel Martinez. It's honestly a beautiful spot and a tribute to the festival as a whole. I think in 2024 they lost their two michelin stars (couldn't find it on the guide), but in previous years, it was two michelin star place and the way they treat their food is uppercase F fancy. We got the 3 course tasting menu (~$120 euros) which was definitely enough food. I will say, once again also not super wowed which is hilarious that someone else wrote this, especially compared to some other places that I've eaten that are also Michelin quality. The staff is REALLY kind and I will say the dining experience is definitely one of a kind (really fancy, the menus are typeset like scripts, it's just really beautiful). If you're in Cannes and want an uppercase E experience, I definitely recommend (and also booking a reservation in advance) but other than that, if you're someone who loves traveling and good food you can miss it. I will bias by saying that I personally love asian food / flavors and it was pretty lacking overall. The quality of the ingredients are stunning though
