Whoever decided to keep a gelateria near the train boarding area was ridiculously smart---I mean, ice cream helps travel-related crankiness SO much. I've had Venchi many times before (especially after trips around Italy and having Centrale be my return station) and even if it is relatively pricey (3.20€ for a small cup), it's still creamy and delicious! I tried "brutto e bella" this time around and loved the hazelnut pieces mixed in with creamy chocolate. Normally I'm an anything-but-chocolate kinda gal, but I was definitely in love with this flavor. If you are feeling burdened and exhausted by travel, do yourself a favor and get a scoop as a pick me up next time you roll through Centrale Station!!

This one is located near the duomo and wasn't too busy despite the presence of their breakfast menu and multitude of tables. There was definitely a small up charge to sit at the tables which was of no bother. The affogato felt oddly satisfying in the morning, though the vanilla gelato was more the texture of ice cream. Maybe they save the real gelato -- which are kept in the small covered metal containers -- for the actual gelato orders?
