I stumbled into Pastelería Mallorca with a friend while looking for something light to hold us over…read morebefore a pedicure, and this spot ended up being one of my favorite spots during my recent stay in Madrid. I grabbed a mini croissant-style puff pastry with turkey, tomato, avocado, and pesto, plus a mini brioche bun with crab, pink sauce, and lettuce. The seafood bun was solid, but that turkey pesto croissant was ... excuse my language ... the f****n' truth! No exaggeration THEE best croissant I've ever had. It was so good chile, I came back the next day and got a full-sized one for lunch and it was still just as good. The space inside is clean and room with lots of comfy furniture; in addition, they also have free WiFi and clean bathrooms which is always appreciated while out and about in the city on vacation. If you're in Madrid (or Mexico City or Japan where there other locations are) this place is a must try! PS: The have a rewards app and will give you a free plain buttery croissant for joining.

The tarta de queso fundente (melting cheesecake) is one of the best desserts I have ever tasted!…read more I actually sought out Pastelería Mallorca because I read somewhere that the Fismuler cheesecake was available there. But from what I can gather, the tarta de queso fundente is a completely different dessert. I was not disappointed! According to their website, the cheesecake has a "thin and crispy cookie layer, a creamy interior, and a flavor blend of cream cheese, fresh cheese, and premium parmesan." I admit I'm a parmesan fanatic. This cheesecake has such an interesting, intense flavor. The texture was indeed "melting" - gooey on the inside, a little bit more set toward the outside. It was rich but not overly sweet, and had a savory kick from the parmesan. I will be dreaming about this cheesecake until I hopefully make it back to Madrid again one day. I came here for dessert and coffee after lunch at the Mercado de la Paz. I also got a lovely café con leche to go with the cheesecake. They have other food and desserts as well, but this cheesecake was so delicious, I wanted to leave a review just to spotlight it.

Love at first sight (and bite!)…read more I was walking by yesterday and spotted these beautiful pastries through the window and couldn't take another step further. I walked right in to find the lovely owner Javier and immediately had to compliment him on the beauty of his work. After he described each of the pastries to me in English (and I mean every pastry! - total foodie right here so this was bliss) I narrowed it down to two. They were as tasty as they look and I'll be going back again today to try two more! The flavors, textures and sweetness of both were excellent! The esto es la pera was divine! If you are a pear lover, this will just blow your mind. Pieces of pear, essence of pear, shaped like a pear :) the cream inside is just perfect. My second, the cuento ruso was very different to my first fruity choice, inside was a rich chocolate mousse (I think is the best way to describe) with a balsamic strawberry filling. A great option for the chocolate lovers. What's more amazing is Javier does everything on his own! Starts baking at 4am every morning and you can truly feel his passion for his masterpieces when you meet him and taste these desserts. They are almost too pretty to eat to be honest! I had to stare and appreciate before I could dig my fork in. Each creation (I call them creations because they are truly creative and beautiful!) cost €3.50. You absolutely can't go wrong. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a dessert and coffee - or better yet, just take an entire box home :) 5 stars for quality, value and belly satisfaction!

The passionfruit (Van Gogh) was my favorite. They also have an affordable breakfast deal (coffee/tea, croissant, and orange juice for a few euro).

It all tasted really good! I was going to get a smoothie, but was told they didn't have the machine to make it the day I went, but the staff recommended a milkshake so I got a strawberry one with oat milk and it tasted good and on the natural side, which I enjoyed! There is good indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and very attentive. We went back a couple days later for lunch and the food did not disappoint either. We got the nachos, chicken and waffles, and fish and chips. The same lady helped us out and the food came out relatively quick. Overall, I look forward to returning.

The tofu scramble was definitely the highlight -- being cooked with seemed like kala namak (black salt) or something similar to give it that eggy/sulphuric character. The avocado+tomato toast was also decent, though needed some amping up with extra virgin olive oil and salt that they provided to season for yourself. The combos also come with a choice of coffee drink -- I did a late, which was very well-made. Overall, somewhat Spanish takes on various breakfast/brunch cuisines, done pretty well. Not a standout spot in Madrid, but a cool spot nonetheless that I'd recommended moderately.
