The shop owner was super friendly and worked with me to find the best frames to make the items pop more. After everything was picked out, I was ready for a hefty estimate. I've gotten a couple pieces similar to this framed in Midtown for around $250, so I was expecting it to be close to that. However, he told me it was $94 and I was ecstatic! The wait time was around 2 weeks (including Thanksgiving weekend), so no complaints there. The finished product was awesome too, I loved it. I've had lots of things framed here over the years. He has a wonderful eye--he knows which types of frames will make your paintings jump out. For example we have a very subtle blue and cream water color. I thought I wanted a bright blue frame, but he explained how the coloring would be overwhelmed and we chose a lighter frame, and it really guides the viewer to see the painting in more depth. We also have a beautiful antique Korean scroll, and he found a perfect lightly burnished bamboo-patterned frame. I've been in Astoria for over 2 years, and have walked past this place numerous times and it never registered. As a result, I've always gone up to 30th Avenue to Astoria Art & Custom Framing for art and framing needs. They're fine, but I'm so glad to tell you it's an unnecessary walk if you live closer to Broadway! The owner, Paul, is pleasant and helped me pick out just what I wanted in terms of framing size, material and background color. I picked it up a week later I couldn't be happier with the result. I also asked him several questions about the best way to go about high quality printing of pics I found and took and he was honest and helpful in referring me elsewhere for my needs. Recently I Took my picture to Pastels to repair a print that had a small rip in the print I had showed the owner the painting with a rip...I was not sure about him when I bought my picture the owner seemed at first not sure then he looked at this painting and guaranteed me this could be fixed it was perfectly framed in this beautiful white frame..he told me this was not problem I would have this after labor day and he would call me....well he never called..I went there and he told me he needed another week...then I called two weeks later I gave him some time and I asked him what happened to my painting ..he was jumbling his words on the phone and then I went there and told me it could not be fixed and basically lied to me and my painting was out of the beautiful white frame and I was so upset I walked out so basically he cannot fix prints and he lies to people with a straight face especially woman he has an skit and tries to be so convincing and does not follow through on his commitment. Found this place via a Google search for picture framing services in Astoria. I had called three others before this one and this was by far the most professional and the cheapest. There are lots of options (including acrylic) and the work is always done on time, no delays, no drama. Only issue is that it's run by one person so it's best to call before showing up as I've come a few times during opening hours without calling to find it closed. read more

I've gotten a frame made for a poster and a mirror insertion to an existing frame. Both were done professionally and in a timely manner. In addition the cost was 1/4 the price of local competitors. I would give ZERO stars if I could. I saw the reviews and decided to give this place a try. Regrets, I have many. First red flag was what other people have commented below on the "store hours". They're non existent. The guy shows up when he shows up. I attempted twice going and it was either too early or too late. Second red flag was that the place is a complete disorganized mess! Frames, garbage everywhere that you can barely walk into the store. I just needed a simple frame and matte but the color I wanted was a bit distinct so it had to be special ordered. I was told it would take 3 weeks. When it came time to pick up the frame I made sure to call the store to make sure they were open, when I inquired if my frame was ready he told me he would check and call back. When he did he tells me in his not so easy to understand English that the color of the frame I wanted had been discontinued so the frame was never made! Now why exactly would you not have called me weeks ago when you found out this piece of information so I could have gone somewhere else to get it done?? He had no excuse, no reason, no nothing. So I waited THREE weeks for NOTHING. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible customer service. Honestly I could have gone to the city and found some place cheaper and that could done it quicker but I wanted to support a local business. Silly me. This was a complete waste of my time. I generally work with very custom-sized French press paper pieces, and I've never had an issue with getting anything framed. The one thing to keep in mind is that you may have a ~2 week wait, but this is totally fine considering most work is entirely custom-made, you're supporting local biz, and your art, prints, posters, etc. will look amazing! Don't get me wrong for price and quality of work I would give 4 or 5 stars. It's just a little tricky catching this place open at the right time. I went three times before being able to pick up my frames because I was either too early (10:30 am) or too late (7;30 pm). The hours listed online are wrong and the phone number listed is out of service. So once you leave your work make sure you check what his current hours are so you don't go through what I did.
