I was stuck in the online queue at the DMV next door, so I hopped over to Passion's Cafe and Pastry. When I walked in, no one was at the counter. No big deal, one of the workers walked up from the back and asked me what I wanted. I started to order a bagel and she told me they weren't serving breakfast. Okay, no big deal, I started to turn my attention to the lunch menu just in time for her to tell me they weren't even serving the menu that was posted. Seems a bit odd to not serve what's on the posted menu, but whatever.
The worker proceeded to rattle off a couple of entrees and some sides that weren't posted anywhere in the entire cafe, so I ordered the fried chicken and Mac and cheese + green beans. She said no problem, would be about 15-20 mins. Asked me what I wanted to drink, and I asked for a cafe mocha. She then yelled at the worker in the back to make a mocha, and she came out as slowly as humanly possible to the front counter. When I got the coffee, I took a sip and almost gagged. I had no idea coffee could taste like cigarettes.
That being said, after waiting 30 mins, I still hadn't gotten my food and asked them to hold it for me while I went back over to the DMV and finished up my appointment, and they were kind enough to oblige.
When I came back about 20 minutes later, they had kept the food warm for me in a very nice and clean to go bag, and they were very friendly, remembering who I was when they gave it back to me.
Lawdhamercy. That fried chicken was the best I've had in a LONG time. Melt in your mouth, juicy, greasy, the breading was perfectly seasoned, made the wait worth it. The Mac and cheese was solid for having to have waited so long, and the green beans were absolutely delicious as well.
TL;DR: the coffee sucked, but the chicken and sides are to die for. read more
