A hidden gem in Chorlton offering a varied coffee menu and a small but lovely food menu. If you are wondering where it is, the shop front says 'Barbecue' and it is next to Out of the Blue, opposite Co-op/Oddbins on Wilbraham Road. I spoke to them earlier this year and they said they were looking to spruce things up and relaunch, but not sure if that's still on the cards.
There are a few seats inside and a few out of the front. On my most recent visit I was the only one there who wasn't working on a laptop so I'd say it's a good spot if you need an office for an afternoon.
I had a flat white and some toast with smoked salmon and cream cheese, which came to about £7.50. I was a bit skeptical of spending almost £5 on some toast but it was a big portion of really tasty satisfying food when it arrived. As far as I can tell all they do in terms of food is a changing menu of things on toast, as well as some chocolate bars, pastries and fruit. They also have a fridge in the corner with some posh soft drinks.
My flat white was really good. Just how I like them: strong, slightly sweet (but not sweetened), and milky but not too milky. As well as the usual coffee range they do cold brew and iced coffees which is nice to see.
You can buy beans to take away and they will grind them for you too.
Overall I'm a big fan! read more
