Rapid service, very friendly, genuinely nice place, clean and well presented without necessarily being the pinnacle of luxury. Two minor gripes: Don't assume 'coffee' always comes with milk: ask how the customer likes it! I don't complain when milk gets put in my coffee because I don't want the business to throw away food/drink and lose money on it but I'd rather have black coffee so it would make sense to ask first. Red onion does not make a salad! Especially not first thing in the morning. Maybe it's a Bolton thing but I've yet to find somewhere that doesn't overload on the onion (red or otherwise) Otherwise it was a very tasty omelette and arrived very punctually. I'm sure as long as you aren't looking for gourmet Michelin cheffing you'll be happy with any food from here.

A final optional detail would be does this place get busy, but look at the address we're in Bolton here people ;) In generaI, I very rarely visit chains anyway now I am blessed with Manchester's independent coffee shop boom however Bolton is a little way behind it's big brother and chains might have to do the job for the next few years. Typically Costa is my least favourite chain coffee shop, Starbucks being my guilty pleasure that I can't dislike even if I try (and yes I am aware of the tax situation before you lecture me). However even with that taken into consideration, they do nothing to warrant a 1 star, so 2 it is.

My regular Flat white, £2.50, is always spot on. Smooth yet strong and 9 times out of 10, they nail the coffee art on top :) One thing that I think Costa need to look at is the cost of the food they sell, it's very expensive. The toasted teacake or pannatone are about the best value @ £1.75 and £1.90 respectively. Recommend to grab a table before ordering if you're with company, as they disappear fast!

They have a daily freshly made soup, free wifi, a comfortable seating area, and even have skimmed milk and decaf tea for awkward customers like me. One of the staff tells me about some great future plans too, jacket potatoes and Carrs pasties for instance. Really nice place. I'd definitely come here again.

However, it seems Panda Coffee Co might have damn near pulled it off. From the signage, to the decor, this place has it nailed. The set up of comfy sofas, nice size tables, the very reasonably priced menu is well thought out. £1.50 Illy Espresso £1.95 Latte, Cappuccino, American (small sizes) The £4.50 Meal deal (Sandwich/wrap, cold drink & any crisps or cookie) £3.75 Any Hot Drink+any cake Soup of the Day from £1.35 With prices like these, I'm sure they will be very popular in Bolton! Great sitting area and they also have free wifi if you ask for the code! Fresh cakes are made each day and there's a good selection of coffees so you can choose the blend for you! April 1st - Certainly not an April Fool!…read more For our wedding anniversary we attended The Village Tearoom's first evening opening as a bistro. The first of three I believe, as test evening events. Well if the Tapas Takeover event was a taste of things to come then we can't wait for the next ! Congrats to local chefs Mark Long & Matthew Agass for the tremendous food, Liz Singleton for the amazing entertainment set, the hard work of the staff during the evening , not to mention the hosts Jackie & Martyn for their warm welcome and letting it all happen.
