This DMV is beyond slow even with an appointment ( get ready for a one hour minimum to wait)! They have the rudest people working ( if you can call it that) there. I watched the counter person being so rude to an elderly lady who didn't have a computer to do a pre check and she was rudely told to use the kiosk! No one even helped her to understand what to do! The same woman at the counter was extremely rude to two Spanish speaker ( she herself was Hispanic), she just kept repeating what she was saying in English. It seems to me if the state of California gives these licenses to Spanish speakers they need to provide a translator to help with this issue. They have signs posted about harassing the people who work there and what criminal offense it is... I can see why it's posted! It's really worth the drive to go to SLO's DMV. They are much quicker and don't have an attitude that you shouldn't be there! read more

I've never been more disrespected than I have by a paso Robles DMV employee Yvette, she was extremely rude ,cold and short with myself and my son. She should not be working with the public and most definitely needs to be reprimanded. She might also bennifit from human interaction classes. Her behavior is highly unacceptable. I had to get a new CA drivers license having moved back after being out of state for a few years, as well as registering my vehicle. There were no forms available but they do have a system that seems to work for them. Keeping in mind that getting a Real ID is important, each person was courteous and helpful given the processes that they need to follow. I left to get the smog test done then came back so they could physically inspect my vehicle so that all documentation was accurate. It took three visits and a few hours but I understand that T's need to be crossed as a government office. I've been to better and I've been to worse, so for a smaller facility they do a pretty good job. I recommend being nice to the staff. They're doing the best they can. read more

I was trying to get a car registered in my name online and I could not for the life of me figure out how to do it... so Patricia I believe her name was had me in and out within 15 minutes! Wow. The people of Paso Robles are woefully underserved by the DMV here. Who'd you guys piss off to get such a dumpy little office? After having our rear plate stolen while parked in Santa Maria, I ordered the replacement plate. It took 4-5 months! Then suddenly I get a weird and confusing postcard saying that if I didn't retrieve the plate from Paso Robles, someone else could claim our personalized plate. Why on earth did the plate end up in the Paso Robles DMV??? I know, I shouldn't bother asking such questions. Why does anything happen the way it does with the DMV? I waited in line for a long time to be helped by the understaffed employees. When I finally got to the window, I was unceremoniously handed my new plate, which came in an envelope. NEXT!! I say "unceremoniously" because what I didn't know and should have been told, is that the new registration slip and stickers were inside the envelope with the plate. I take it home, hand it off to my husband, he puts the plate on, and the envelope goes in the trash. I mentioned it while running another DMV errand in SLO and that's when I learned they were supposed to tell me to expect the stickers in with the plate. Even the Santa Maria DMV, which is large, loud, crowded, and stressful had more going for it than the Paso Robles office. If I lived in Paso, I'd take the time to drive down to SLO for my DMV needs. That place is run right and is clearly far better funded. read more

I normally don't write about DMV for the most part over the years my experience has been good. The people at the counter are courteous, in my case over the last 3 months trying to get my Airstream registered in CA has not been a great experience. I paid all my fees and the Title was sent Via Fed X, someone did not log it in so I was told they never got it. I'm still waiting to see if I will even get my RV registered even though Fed X shows the title was received and had a signature. People in the Paso Robles DMV need to be accountable for their errors. read more

Utilized Paso DMV for the first time, and am absolutely shocked by the horrible experience we had yesterday, April 3rd. My partner and I approached the intake person in front of the red carpet where you register for having an appointment, and was informed we had no appointment, and was very rudely told to go to the back of the line, which extended out the door. My partner was confused (we are both senior citizens), and the woman explained nothing about the "missing" appointment, and just dismissed us. I listened to her continue to be rude and dismissive to others, and showed no compassion for other disabled seniors who came to her. this woman should not be addressing the public with this attitude. As I mentioned our experience to other Paso Roblans, had four others tell me they experienced the same treatment from this woman. Not acceptable! read more

So far so good. Have x Mark's the spot for 6 feet distance. Plenty of shade at 1030 since the sun is still low but come noon I would suspect this lone outside might get hot. A little table at the entrance explaining what is going on. No need to make an appointment. Lady was super nice that comes out and greets you outside. Lady at booth was also super nice' got a little impatient once or twice bit that's pretty good for the dmv. I have been in there where I feel they hate their job. This time it was great. read more

I remember when I moved to Paso almost 25 years ago, I'd moved from LA & this office was a breath of fresh air. I remember a sweet lady with an English accent helped me with my address change on my DL. I also remember returning 8 years later to actually get her again when my daughter got her DL & she was still there. But sadly that job must have taken its toll on her! She was definitely not the same sweet, friendly lady. & that seemed to be the case with everyone there. Until recently, I recently had to update my DL & then get another matter taken care of & was extremely impressed with how consistently friendly & helpful EVERYONE was! It was like my first visit! My dad noticed it too so it wasn't just my experience. Something has changed & I just had to give a place that normally notoriously has a bad rep, - - - kudos for giving excellent customer service! Also if you have an appointment, my experience has always been a less than 5 minute wait. read more

I have to give DMV 5 stars. I was in and out in exactly 1 hour once the doors opened at 8 am. I arrived in line at 7:45 am, wrapped around the building and then some. I was telling the couple behind me I was there 3 weeks ago and out in 40 minutes standing in the exact same spot. I passed them as I was leaving and said "well, was an extra 20 minutes but I will take it". I know they were going to be called within the next few minutes. First timer here and needed help with my new address. Didn't get her name but window #1 was just rude and demanding. Didn't help me much. Didn't even look and pointed where to go and just said go there. So I went and decided to just change my mailing address instead of a whole new license and see if she can help me with no charge for that. (Heard there wasn't a charge to change your mailing address) so went back to window #1 and she said again "okay, do you want to pay for the $35?" The people that work there are usually pretty helpful. I can't say I have ever walked out just angry. I always get the help I need. Asked her the question, and she rudely threw her arm up to BRUSH him away.. I went 4 times with the same issue.. same results every time.. ill never step foot in the Paso Robles office again. My daughter was taking her second permit test, her alarm went off and she clicked snooze, the lady behind the counter larger woman with short brown hair and yellow highlight came over and snatched her test and told her she could not take her test!! Super rude, did not even address me as my child's mother!!! The third test my daughter turned around and said I think if I get this wrong it will be my seventh one wrong, the same lady yelled across the room, and said you can't talk to anyone! Had very, very rude service by an irritable gray-haired man wearing glasses who had the ID badge hanging from his neck turned toward his shirt instead of outward, preventing you from reading his name. Disappointed that it took me a couple of months for an appointment for a Drivers Lic. renewal and a Real ID, but once I arrived for it yesterday, wow what a great experience! The people that are there are the best, friendly, kind, punctual and very helpful. The process has been streamlined by going online for the Real ID and entering info, documents that you upload onto the site and then your info goes to the DMV for a fast track when you arrive. I had to go all the way to my doctors office to retrieve another copy. Waiting in line and walking into this DMV just seemed like any other DMV I have been to. Things were tidy and nothing was all that exciting. I always bring something with me to entertain myself with because there is always waiting time without an appointment. The real bummer was that I absolutely hated the fact that I was there for over 4 hours just to get California plates. I showed up 30 minutes before they opened and was about the 20th person in line. It just boggles my mind as to why the process should take so long. I feel as though the actual office is not to blame and it is the system as a whole. When I did get up to a window to speak with someone, they were very kind a helpful. I literally was with her for only 10 minutes. Super quick and easy, it is the waiting that is an absolute drag. One thing I would like is that the queue to be seen. That way you know if you have time to get up and go to the bathroom or take a lap around the building outside to get some freash air. I think being able to do little things like this while waiting wouldn't make the experience feel like such a drag. read more

I went to DMV to get CA ID. waiting on line for long time and when i got inside the DMV. the lady at the door who checks papers said to me, "do you have an appointment?, " i said no. well we can't give you a ticket because it's about 3:45 and we don't want to work pass office hours. you just have to come back another day. then there is this fat, ugly woman at window 2 who yelled said what's going on there. don't give him a ticket until i say so. i didn't want to leave and waited until i got the ticket. when i get to windon 4, this lady can't read the papers and tries to turn them to me (lazy and nasty skin head) i read them to her and and then said It's being long day. nevertheless, absolutely horrible customer service, rude employees, don't like what they do. on the top of this the dmv is like third world country. absolutely the DMV management is useless and changes have to happen. read more
