Found this doctor through Yelp and was optimistic because of all of the five-star reviews. Went to the website and initially felt uncomfortable putting all of my information on the website contact form, so I called the number. The automated message that plays when you call says if you are not a current client (but rather a prospective client), please fill out the contact form on the website and don't call. To be respectful of this request, I went back to the website and filled out the contact form. Five days went by and no response. Since I had created an account, I was able to send an email from my account. I emailed: "I filled out a contact form a few days ago and still haven't heard anything back. Can you please let me know if you received this information? Thank you." I received this reply less than an hour later: "I apologize for the delay in response. Unfortunately at this time, we are not currently accepting new patients. You may try searching other psychiatrists in the Pasadena area - there are several listed online via the Psychology Today website. Kindest regards, Dr. Domb"
The email is polite enough I guess but a) If this doctor is not accepting new patients it should be on the website and/or phone message, and b) it is unacceptable that I did not receive a response at all until I sent a follow-up email. The contact form should really not even be an option on the website, let alone the fact that when you call the number it specifically says prospective patients should fill out the contact form. That phone message should be updated at the very least. It took a lot of time for me to fill out that form (answering personal questions and questions about why I am seeking a psychiatrist, etc) and then to not receive a reply until I asked again and then to hear that she is not accepting new patients is a waste of my time.
Hopefully, this review will prevent anyone else from wasting their time like I did. It is because of this type of crap that suicide rates are so high in this country - psychology professionals have no organization, compassion or concern with regard to people trying to get help, all they care about is money and can't be bothered to check the details of their businesses/practices.
Lastly, I thought it was quite condescending to tell me that I can try searching for psychiatrists on Psychology Today. Are you kidding? I know this already. I found this doctor/practice by searching online, obviously. That type of condescension is unnecessary and frankly leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Good luck to those seeking psychiatric help and I wish you all the best. Don't contact this doctor. read more
