Extremely disappointing Driver's Ed experience. Incredibly disorganized. Office, driving instructors and lecturers do not communicate. For two consecutive weeks lectures were cancelled on-site because the office failed to coordinate with the school in advance, resulting in kids being stranded in a dark hallway high school hallway with no security or adult supervision. Multiple calls to the office were answered by office staff who could not help, offered no apology or provided no follow up action. In additional to failing to properly coordinate classroom availability, they do little if anything to ensure the safety of students at the school as evidenced by the attached photo showing a typical Sat morning class - no lights, long hallways and no adult supervision (see photo). On days when lectures were cancelled in advance (eg. holidays) the office has no idea whether drivers are planning to show up. You are instructed to contact the driver directly, but they will not provide driver contact info. The first lecturer was fired because numerous students complained about highly offensive remarks and inappropriate behavior. Since then there has been a new teacher every week with no handoff from one to the other, resulting in a disconnected learning experience. The mid-term exam was administered by surprise on the same day as the SAT when many students were absent. Despite numerous requests no one on the office knows when this can be made up. Requests for the MV-278 have gone unanswered - apparently the office can not find the certificate book and despite the fact that 21 hours of class time have already been logged. As frustrating as it is for a parent, it is even more frustrating for the student who is already under the stresses of being a HS junior. Completing Drivers Ed and scheduling the road test are things kids should be excited about. Instead mine is wondering if and when this will happen because the office is clueless. read more

Pas Auto School - This is what a student encounters upon entering the second floor at Stepinac on a typical Saturday - Driving Schools Near Me - Tarrytown, New York

I Was cutoff by a tan vehicle from this company. The driver and single occupant of the vehicle was an older white male. So I can't really say that this was a student driver. After I was cutoff, the driver sped down a semi residential street. It amazes me that someone would drive a company vehicle, clearly labeled with a business name on the side in such a manner. Not anyone I would send a new driver to learn from! read more

I contacted PAS auto school for their au pair lessons. Our au pair is 24 with a valid license from her country but failed my test as well as my husbands test - miserably. After the 1st and 5th lessons the instructor said she was "fine". She definitely did not drive fine with either my husband or me so we called the instructor to tell him about our experiences (after his evaluation and a few lessons) and he said that was not his experience. Because of this I decided to go on the 6th and final lesson to find out why. Turns out they drive on only side roads around your neighborhood and surrounding areas and only during day light (I had to specifically request a night time lesson which was not a welcome request). They are not allowed to go on highways or parkways (which we were not told) and their parallel parking is on side roads behind only one car. I asked the instructor to have her drive into our small village and parallel between 2 cars and he said that wasn't fair. I told him to put her on his insurance because this wasn't real life driving. He said fair enough and had her parallel between 2 cars that could fit an 18 wheeler. This is not a 16 yr old just learning this is a 24 yr old who told me she was an expert driver who was supposed to be driving my precious 2 yr old. I explained this to the office and the instructor. I assumed they catered to this type of driver since they had an au pair package on their website. He had to ask her to slow down three times during the hr and twice she made left turns into the right lane cutting off other cars already in that lane without saying a word to her (I had to tell her that both lanes turn left meaning the other lane has cars also turning left and she needs to stay in the same lane). If I hadn't gone on that final lesson I would have assumed she knew all of this. I also figured I would be told things like having to ask her to slow down three times etc. If you are thinking of paying this school to teach your children please ensure you know what you are getting and be very explicit of what you expect. For me it was a complete waste of money. I asked my au pair if SHE felt she learned anything and she replied "yes I learned the roads around the house better". I could have downloaded her a mapquest app for free for that. read more

Terrible. The ran out of certificate booklets and six months later they still do not have them. We are unable to change our child's driving status from junior license to senior license without this certificate, which is the reason we enrolled in the course. They do not return any calls and dont care. When we went in person they blames DMV for not sending the booklets. The second in person visit, they blames Stepinac's coordinator who handles the processing of the supplies. STAY AWAY--THEY TAKE THE PAYMENT AND DO NOT PROVIDE THE DOCUMENTATION NEEDED, NOT TO MENTION NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

I am being nice with the one star. When your kid says no I dont want to take drivers ed, its terrible, listen to them. Frequent substitute teachers for classroom, numerous cancellations, as well as different teachers all the time for driving. "We are trying to find a teacher but its hard" . Dont waste your money the red flag should be the bold No refunds on the sign up sheet. Spend the extra money and go to another school. HORRENDOUS. Where do I begin? With the twit who answers the phone, who is rude and unprofessional and no help at all, and after 10 minutes of her whiny, nasally total lack of anything useful to contribute, I let a b**ch fly, because she is one, and she is dumb enough to call back and leave a voicemail stating "good luck getting that certificate ordered now after that remark." I saved the voice mail and play it for anyone who will listen as an introduction to PAS. Let's move on to Mel, who came to the phone when I called back the second time after the delightful voicemail- the b**ch hung up on me the first time I called, did I mention how unprofessional she was? Mel, the voice of reason, the apologetic one, of course he is going to help. Mel, who when I called back 4 weeks later to check on the status of the certificate I needed pretended not to be himself, took a message for himself and didn't return the call. When I called again and left a message for Mel, he never called back. When I called again and a female employee promised to look into it and call me back, and she didn't call me back. Then I got bored, so I had my husband call, and was on the call as well, and whoever he spoke to, who cares now about names, they are all lazy and stupid, said he would look into it and call back and he never did. And I'm still waiting for that certificate 2 months later. They call themselves PAS but I think POS would be more accurate. Who needs to be treated this way? If it were just one employee it would be an aberration, but here it seems to be policy. It is apparent to me that these people don't really want to be in business and I think we should all do our best to help by giving our business to any other driving school. This school has been extremely difficult and aggravating. I called four times on 4 different days to schedule a 5 hour course and never once did a person answer the phone. The website made it sound like if I left my name on the answering machine I would reserve a spot, so I did. I arrived on the scheduled day and couldn't even find the place because the address is wrong. I called the office that morning and finally a very hostile and unprofessional man picked up and told me that contrary to the website, they do not offer courses every Saturday. He also gave me instructions to call some woman on Monday to reserve a spot. When I asked him if a employee would answer, he told me "you'll have to see." Very unprofessional. We really had a great experience. My son signed up for 5 lessons with Marc N. He was very patient and a very good instructor. Valerie, in the office, was also very helpful. She took my son on his road test when I made the mistake of scheduling the road test during a time the instructors had drivers ed classes. They really went above and beyond (and my son passed his drivers test with no points off). I would highly recommend Pas. read more

Terrible program, If you miss a class it is very big pain to try and make it up which you need to do to complete the course. They should have make up dates already set for the driving but instead you have to wait for the instructor to call you which he never does. I completed the course over a month ago and I still have not received the certificate required to get my senior license. I highly recommend not to do this program. read more

Very poor communication. Seems like no one ever knows what the other person has done. I've had to call over a dozen times in the past few weeks to schedule a make-up driving class for my son. Always put on hold. "Please hold, your call is important to us." Clearly, it's not. read more

Well, that was the most unhelpful phone call ever. Knowing nothing about how driving packages work, I called to get answers to my questions, such as how far in advance I need to book, can students share lessons, etc... The guy on the phone went out of his way make me feel stupid with each question I asked. I could almost hear him say "duh". If the rudeness of this employee was anything to go by, I am steering clear of this driving school. Hopefully someone else will read this too and not give them several hundred dollars of their hard-earned cash. PAS auto school is terrible. Stepinac uses them for their driver's ed program, and every step of the way has been difficult. If you call to make up a lesson, they are pleasant on the phone, but they never contact you back, and you have to keep calling and chase them to do make ups. I have left messages for managers, and not once has someone ever called me back. Even my emails are not returned. Do not use them. read more

Truly terrible. Instructors are adequate but their organizational skills are completely subpar and the woman who answers their phones (Susan) is rude, unhelpful and absolutely nasty. Teacher (Diane) was good, however the school is horrible. I was dropped a month before my test because a bully called the school to tell them that I had parked on a line at the Scarsdale train station. I had stopped to get out of the car and was on the phone with the driving school scheduling the road test. The guy was a bully and tried to intimidate me, came over to the car with a camera and began to threaten. He told the school to expect a summons from Scarsdale Police dept. Of course, they never received a summons (news flash I did nothing wrong), and he was a bully not a cop. However, the school said their "policy" was to drop the student and listen to the bully. Coming home after work & errands, minding my own business--a driver of theirs accused me of running a stop sign, which i did not, on private property, where there are speed bumps and he was clearly speeding....this crazy man gets out of his car to come take pictures of me & my car "to remember it". Psycho much? This guy thinks he's the actual traffic police. I told him that he was honking and gesturing before i even had a chance to fully stop. When i pointed out that HE was in fact speeding, he then abruptly walked away. I called their office to complain- only to be given attitude by a VERY rude woman, who hung up on me (very professional). I called back a spoke to a very professional nice reasonable man (Kaseem?)who agreed that the drivers actions were uncalled for & he'd speak to them. I cannot comment on the quality of instruction, but they have repeatedly failed to properly schedule classes, to the point that my son was dropped from one class and promised a second. When that second (fall) class was set to start, he was then told that they didn't have a class to accommodate his schedule. We withdrew and requested a refund, and enrolled him in private lessons. They are now marking him as present for classes he is not attending, and the school is asking us to pay again. While everybody you speak to in the office is very nice, this is no way to run a business. read more

If possible I would have given a zero. The lecture teacher that we were given is the most incompetent teacher that I have ever had. My Earth Science teacher during my Freshman year of high school was more competent than him and she was fired within a year of being hired because of the amount of complaints the school got. He forgets everything constantly and even forgot that he had rescheduled our class because we did not have school the day of. Then he had the AUDACITY to tell us that we were all marked absent and that we had to write an essay to make up for the class we "missed." He doesn't teach about cars but instead chooses to drone on and on about his dull life, telling the same stories every week. The man is so senile that he cannot even remember that he's told his stories ten times before. He is a sexist a**hole who assumed all of the girls in the class would not know anything about the cars and clearly stated this. Then when the girls confronted him he stated that he didn't say anything of the sort. This man also teaches at all girls schools, mind you. I would never recommend this driving school to anyone. The driving was unprofessional and inconsistent. Our instructor was changed every week for five weeks and they didn't know the area and instead depended on the students to know where they were going. Just had a terrible experience. Rude from management down. My son and 2 other kids waited for the driving teacher to arrive. The teacher sat in the car and never identified himself, and ultimately drove away, leaving the kids stranded. When we called to complain to management, were met with rude, patronizing comments and complete lack of sympathy or apology. When I confronted the instructor the next day, he said he wouldn't apologize. When I spoke again to management, the director backed his driver and blamed my kid! We are the consumer, paying good money, but treated with utmost disrespect. I'm pulling my kid from the program. DON'T USE THIS SCHOOL! read more

This company is incompetent. Every time you call it's the first time they're hearing of the issue even though you and another parent call EVERY week. The woman leaves our children in the car to use a restroom/shop. She couldnt find her way back to the children's school the children had to figure out where they were and get back. She wanted to go a different route so she could see of she could get home that way. She took off after dropping off amd earlier group leaving our children with no driving time and stated to the other mother well Im not coming back! She cancelled another week because her rearview mirror fell off and she couldn't get it back on. She complains to the girls about her husband and other inappropriate topics. Meanwhile the students arent even allowed to drive the speed limit, haven't done parallel parking and are mocked when making 3pt turns. The 800 number and the 914 number have rude and unprofessional people both answering the phone and whoever they find to transfer me to. The last guy didnt know his own name it was ummmmm Thaddeus and he was ummm basically the director! Call your schools have them switch companies if you care about your children at all. This place is a joke. Oh yeah and the instructor stated oh man theres something wrong with the car I better have that fixed, had the children drive it anyway and it was still making a horrible noise the following week. Uet each week we call it's ground hogs day and it's the first they are hearing of it! And no one knows anything! -5* if it were an option. read more

so my first driving lesson got cancelled because the car broke. months later, the class ends and I do not receive my certificate because I am missing a driving lesson. I've been waiting 5 months for them to call me up and reschedule an appointment (because that's the way they insist on doing it, I cant call up the instructor and reschedule with him). I should have my senior license by now, but I don't because I've been waiting on these fucktards to do their job. I called them up today to see what was going on and the lady who answered the phone was rude from the get go, told me I was gonna have to wait until July to make up my lessons. When I heard this I said "I'm gonna have to wait 2 more fucking months?" at which point she hung up on me and refused to help me because of my "fowl mouth". I called back again and she immediately put me on hold. funny how they can take your money but not your calls, right. Ugh, Don't waste your money. The driving instructor was beyond rude and offered no advice beyond "thinking." Even when confronted with the fact that I had no prior experience behind the wheel of a car on the first day, he put me into some very demanding situations, such as driving down a high-speed, busy road while merging back and forth between lanes, to the ire of other motorists. Although they claim to help you and go at a personalized pace, he was more concerned with the fact that my skill was far behind that of the other drivers', who had been driving for weeks, if not months before I had. Of course, all of my problems would go away and I would pass quite easily if I chose to take some "private lessons" with the instructor- at a rate of $50.00 per hour over the hundreds I had already paid! If I knew beforehand that I would learn nothing, I would've solely practiced driving with a friend or someone in my family, at the cost of a few lunches. You're better off with one of the many other schools in the area. To the credit of the company, on a day that my regular instructor was absent, the man filling in for him was great at helping me discover what I was doing wrong, and fixed my problems quite easily. A terrible, terrible experience. I took the course in NYC, and like the reviewer before me said, the driving instructor was beyond rude. I have two main complaints against him. First, his personality: he was a sexist, racist, bigoted, foulmouthed, ignorant jerk; second, that he claimed that I had not fulfilled my obligation hours-wise when I had been religious about making up lost time. Throughout the course I had prided myself on miraculously staying on his good side; I had seen kids chewed out for newbie mistakes and just take his very personal insults. I made a 3-hour appointment to make up the classes I missed, and by the end of the appointment, he given me so much shit about not yielding right of way to a pedestrian once (typical NYC behavior) that I snapped and attempted to justify my answer. Naturally, he couldn't stand it, and apparently he gave me an "incomplete" - claiming that I had only attended two classes. I'm currently talking to the company to see what is going on, but they seemed to be aware that this guy was a jerk and kept him on regardless. That is inexcusable; I can only discourage anyone from paying PAS auto in the strongest terms. read more

Terrible company to work for and would not recommend to my worst enemy as a school. There are always a couple of diamonds in the rough, so not everyone in the office is incompetent and some of the instructors are good. I am talking on the whole and it starts with ownership and poor management in the office. Yeah, the training is a week of basic driver education that the high school kids get. Get to drive with an instructor for about 1 hour, taking turns with the other 3-4 new instructors. Spend more time learning how to drive one handed from the passenger seat than tactics and methods that are proven to teach people to drive. Office is basically chaos most of the time with 3 people essentially doing the work that would be really well done with 1 or 2 more employees. Customer service suffers badly because of workload and morale. Have you seen these cars?! The cheapest way to fix a car that will legally keep it on the road- that's the philosophy and marching orders. Dual controls?! A secondary rearview mirror and a brake pedal. Oh, and driver ed provided by your school and contracted to PAS; show up and you'll pass the course. No one fails because that may mean a refund to a screaming parent! Just remember that these, for the most part, high school kids, will soon be sharing the road with you- choose your education wisely, it may save your life one day! read more
