We had not broken anything in the store, and were extremely careful and always placed things back where we found them if we weren't going to purchase them. She glared at my grandmother, who was wheelchair bound, and it was obvious that she didn't believe us, and barely let the matter go when it was made clear we were purchasing a table. I regret our patronage to their store, as they made my grandmother feel incredibly guilty for needing a wheelchair.

As we walked to front door, we realized there were two raccoons at the main entrance eating food that patrons had thrown down in order to get pictures, etc. This experience made me so upset: 1) Don't feed wild animals and 2) Why wasn't the company concerned with wild animals hanging out at the entrance of the business where customers HAVE TO walk. I had hoped after exploring the entire store (which takes a while) that the raccoons would have moved on, but on our way out, we realized that the raccoons had made their nest/house inside of the exterior of Alvins. That made me even madder! This was not a one time instance! As I exited, I called animal control (which wouldn't respond to raccoons) so then I called the police (non-emergency). I realize they had bigger fish to fry on a Saturday night at PCB, but had those animals attacked me or my family members, they would have had a much bigger problem on their hands.

They had made a tunnel into the wall and were crawling up into it, and sneaking outside to steal food and scare customers. That is a serious health & safety issue. For another one of our items, she had to open to make sure the batteries that came with were still good. They were rusted and she replaced them.. I can't say I wasn't concerned. There's a no return/refund policy which I understand why. Fast forward to that night the smaller item that originally had rusted batteries stopped working after like a minute.. even with the new batteries. That was a big mood killer and disappointment. I didn't realize that for the other item, that we thought we bought a pack of batteries for, she actually opened and put generic Amazon batteries in. And in doing so she broke the plastic cap that keeps the batteries in. She never said anything to us about it and still sold it to us! How am I supposed to use it if there's nothing holding the batteries in?? And it wasn't a "cheap" item either which is more upsetting. Also not sure how much we were charged for the batteries since we weren't given a receipt. While in the shop we were comfortable and confident in what we purchased. The staff going out their way to check and replace batteries we appreciated but had us questioning the quality and age of their items. But the fact that they let us leave with a physically broken item, knowing we would not be able to return, is dishonest and disgusting in my eyes. Not sure if I'd recommend this place but if you do go, make sure to keep an eye on how your purchase is handled..
