We were in town visiting family, and we knew we had to visit F&F. Unfortunately, the day we could…read morecome was on a day where temps were on the cooler side with occasional wind gusts. The only availability was on the patio, so we obliged with the knowledge from the website that there were patio heaters available. To the contrary, the patio heaters were not available, and we were offered blankets and we were still ok with that since we were there and we had a small kiddo with us. At no point, did we complain about our situation. As a matter of fact, we struck up a great conversation with another couple that ventured out to the outdoor patio and laughed with us about braving the elements for some F&F. When the inevitable happened, small kiddo needing to use the bathroom, I covered my seasonal menu special with my napkin to ensure it didn't get cold or rainy mist onto it. However, much to my dismay, the plate was no longer there as it was whisked away since my napkin was on it (understandable, no doubt). When the owner came out to check out the destabilizing weather conditions, he saw us braving the conditions and asked how we were doing. We explained our situation about visiting from out of state, as well as my mishap of protecting my plate from the elements. With a pretty blank stare, I got the following, "aww well you should probably complain to your wife." As she was to blame, presumably. Well, nonetheless, I was not going to order another plate, but we did need to order dessert for the in-laws for whom we were visiting. I did order the cheesecake with the owner after disclosing my napkin blunder. Now, one would think that maybe there would be some sort of sympathy and offer something to help with our situation. NOPE, not at all from the owner! The sympathy did come from the server, tho! If it wasn't for the server, God bless her, it would have been a complete all-around letdown. Aside from the couple we met outside, she was the only bright spot of the dining/lack of dining experience. I get it, and I take all ownership of putting the napkin on my plate; however, there was no empathy whatsoever from the one person who should have it the most when running a service based business. For the record, we did not ask for a free meal or any sort of discount. It was the server who went to bat for us and tried to get something for us. Much to the owner's dissatisfaction, he was only going to budge on giving 50% off the individual plate. Overall, it was a great server who outshined ownership.
