Came in to buy Star Wars decor for May the Fourth. Found a $30 Storm Trooper helium balloon ensemble that stands 70" tall. They blew it up and taped the parts together so it looks like one big balloon at no additional cost. I paid for this the night before picking it up and asked that it be ready when they opened the next day so I would get to work on time. When I got there, they hadn't started yet. I've bought balloons two a year ( for both my kids birthdays) every year oldest is 8 my youngest turns 5 tomorrow we went to the store picked them out and took them home not 3 hours later did the smaller balloons start to deflate. They told me 48 hours they would last ( for many years they would last longer though) super disappointing not even 24 hours later and they are no good. Won't be going back to show at party city again. The employees were nice when we were there no complaints but quality or whatever they're doing has gone down the drain. On Sunday afternoon, I was desperate to get some balloons filled and ready for a socially distanced gender reveal picnic on the same day. I could not find a place open on Sunday other than Party City that would provide helium filled balloons, but I was honestly concerned after reading reviews. Had no other choices and time was ticking.. so off to Party City I went. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience there. The items were neatly organized and aisles were labeled. One of the workers (something-Anne, unfortunately don't know the spelling of her name) was SUPER helpful and kind to help me choose the best blue, pink, and white latex balloons for this occasion. I have only been to this location a handful of times, and it's been several years since my last visit but today I was pretty disappointed in this party city location. You'd think they were going out of business the way the shelves were only barely stocked. I went in for some table cloths and they didn't have the size or color I needed. I did find a few decoration items I needed but there was something I liked but was way out of reach and I couldn't find an associate to help me get it down. The sweetest person I ever met and was SO professional. The entire system was down and it was handled with so much understanding and grace. I personally witnessed them being mistreated by other customers and they were so polite, cool, calm, and collected. Every time I come to this location they loudly announce, by shouting over the counter, that balloons will take anywhere from 1-4 hours to be blown up. I've been there at all different time... from right when they open on a weekday to mid afternoon on a Sunday. Every. Single. Time. Meanwhile there's always 2-3 employees leaning on the counter chatting or casually inflating 1 balloon between personal conversation. I once watched 2 employees have some kind of bouncy ball race thru the store while someone else told customers they wouldn't have time to blow up balloons at all that day. If Party City is now order ahead only, they should just say that on their website and remove the option for customers to walk in and select balloons for inflation. I typically prefer Party City over some of the more specialty party shops, both for prices and selection, but the customer service at this location sucks. read more

This was my first time visiting Party City in Tukwila. They were very nice and answered all of my questions. They even checked back stock for the items I couldn't find. I ended up selecting various individual balloons and requested them to be ready for pick up in a few days for my nieces 16th birthday. I just wanted to give a thumbs-up to Jackie at the Tukwila store, who made the best of a bad situation. We pre-ordered a bouquet of balloons for my daughter's birthday party, to be picked up the day before. Well, my wife went to the store the day before, in the middle of the afternoon, only to find it was closed, with no explanation. That meant we'd have to come back Sunday morning at 10, which was when we planned to start our party. We got there about 9:30, hoping that maybe someone showed up early. As luck would have it, Jackie was just getting out of her car, presumably to open. I told her about our order, and she went in to check on it. It hadn't been done, so she let us come in while she blew up our balloons and offered to refund our entire bill. As we were waiting, she told us what a disaster the previous day had been -- apparently, several employees are on medical leave, and the only person available to run the store also had to leave, giving them no choice but to close. I'm dinging them one star because the store had our number but never called to tell us our order wouldn't be ready on time. They dropped the ball on that one, but Jackie, to her credit, did everything she could to make things right. And I didn't make her refund us. read more

I ordered balloons for a party and on the day of the party I happened to go into my order to check delivery status and saw that one 20ct set of the balloons I ordered had been removed from my order. I never received a call, email or text. I called and spoke to two people, one being the manager, and was basically told when they pulled my order on Wednesday, the balloons were out of stock. So I asked what balloons do you have that would be similar and I would place an order and they could deliver the balloons with my order. I was told I would either have to pick up the new order of balloons or I would have to pay an additional delivery fee to have the balloons delivered because my order was out for delivery. This all happened within 2-3 hours of my event. As I am talking to them, miraculously the balloons are now back in stock. They were stocked Wednesday night. So my question is, why wasn't my order fulfilled as ordered? My order that was delivering on Friday, was pulled and processed on Wednesday which is why most of the balloons were deflated. So, I placed a new order and had to find someone to pick them up in time for the event. Then...I ordered 2 ,3-piece balloon sets that were put together incorrectly. One set had the 3 correct balloons and 1 set did not, the other two balloons were attached to another set of balloons. When I called back to tell them, I was told they had people working that had disabilities (their words, not mine) and they (store personnel) could not tell them that the order was put together incorrect, so instead of someone proactively fixing the balloon set, and/or using this as a teachable moment, they let it go out incorrectly. No Quality Assurance, no regard for the customer. I placed the order for the balloons in a way that would make it easy for me to decorate. The most important thing about my order is that most of the balloons had clearly been put together a day or more prior to the delivery date. They were not fresh and had already started to deflate. I would never use this particular Party City again. I spoke with the manager several times and not once did he offer anything to allow for the mishaps of my order, in fact as stated, I had to find someone to pickup the 'new' order of balloons that had been removed from my initial order. Very bad customer service. So...I lost use of several of the balloons because they were already deflating and by the end of the night, approx 11-12pm, most of the balloons were no longer standing, my event was from 6-12pm. Most of the displayed prices are wrong, you have to check your receipt meticulously unless you want to spend even more money at this oddly overpriced abandoned haunted warehouse than you already will. Because oh, the pricing mistake will never be in your favor. The candy in this store was probably made during World War I. It is actually insane how much candy they have, the variety is stunning. Sometimes I wonder how old the oldest bag of candy in that store is, and how fast I would die if I ate it. Employees are nice though. read more

This store is big, they have everything you need in the party supply department. There prices are a little high, after I bought napkins here for my baby shower I found cute ones at the dollar store for only a dollar a pack compared to $4 a pack. I walked around the whole store looking for other items I might need and didn't see a single employee. If I had needed help there was none to be found. My order number is right on the order. So I decide to call their 800 number. I've been on hold for now 23 minutes because OMG they have a "higher than usual call volume." Grant was incredibly rude and has terrible customer service. Ordered a big bunch of 4 year old balloons with what looked like two moana balloons. It cost over $20. When I arrived to pick them up, they couldn't find them. After ten minutes of about 5 different excuses (including that they gave them to someone else, to there was no order on file to the idea that we must not have actually made an order) they finally remembered that a lady had left with them tangled with her balloons and brought them back. The woman who rung us up today was the rudest person I have encountered here in Washington. We bought some candy and balloons to tell our family we are having a little girl, so we bought the 15 pieces for 1$ candy and she poured the bowl out and just made the biggest sigh in the world, like I was bothering her! Balloon station is very inefficient. There should be signs that you have to pay for balloons before going to the station to order what you want. Dear Manager, please don't ask me if you can help me and then tell me you have an order before mine. You should have said "Ma'am I'll be with you shortly". I called them once just to check on the status and they said if they didn't have a driver by a certain time they would Uber it. Cool. I called them again 30 minutes before the end of the time slot just to see if they had someone on their way yet. This lady told me that they picked it up 5 minutes ago and were on their way to me. Another 30 minutes go by and I called to see if the driver had somehow gotten lost only to find out my order was STILL at the store and it was 10 minutes past the end of the time slot. Also, being that they are in the party/event industry you would think that they know how timing is CRUCIAL and should've done everything in their power to make sure the order got there on time. Worst is he was so rude and definitely didn't have any sincerity. Didn't even offer a discount. When I asked about one all he said was "what should I do about it?" in a very rude tone. Honestly, I only come through here around Halloween time. It does have every costume, accessory, home decoration, party decorations, etc. that you will need. Of course, they offer all of this year round as well for those who plan parties throughout the year. I make sure to come early in the month and on a weekday around holiday times, especially in October. That way, you're able to get your size in a costume and try it on without being rushed and any little nick nacks you might want for the big night aren't sold out. My only big issue is that they only have 2 dressing rooms, and the rooms don't have doors, just curtains which don't close all the way, I had a friend stand in front just in case while I changed :( Parking can be a real pain during the weekend, its right next to Best Buy, Marshalls, Red Robin and Ulta so parking can be scarce. But this review is mainly for my latest (and last) visit to this store. I had a return to make and the first thing I did when I walked into a store was talk to an employee. I didn't have a receipt and wanted to see what my return options were. Now, I acknowledge, I was the one without a receipt and the were not obligated to give me anything at all. Which is why I bothered to ask in the first place... The employee then said the merchandise credit wasn't possible. I then asked if it was ok to exchange the items for the exact same items, just a different color. The employee then said "yes, we can do that". So I found the exact same items, different colors, than what I had to return. I waited in the extremely long (and slow) line to exchange my items. The cashier called in a manager to process my return. The manager told me that they couldn't make the exchange. I clarified that I had confirmed with the employee that the exchange for exact same items would be ok. She then asked the employee who was at a far end of the counter (behind the balloons, so I couldn't see her) and she BLATANTLY LIED that "I said to talk to the manager." She didn't bother to come around to our register, I'm assuming because she didn't want to lie to my face or directly to her manager. Wouldn't you think that before wasting my time in your store, if I was proactive enough to talk to an employee, then I would talk to a manager if you had indicated as much? Needless to say, the manager did nothing, even after I told her the employee was lying and that wasn't what she had told me, she still did nothing. Luckily I don't have to frequent this place very often. I mean it's a one stop shop for all things party, but usually I have enough notice to order things wholesale directly myself for my business. The service at this place is HORRIFIC! There is always an annoying line of at least 3-5 people deep, one cashier..... you can never find someone to answer a question or point you in the direction you need to go. I understand it's retail, that payroll hours are scarce, that they are constantly changing the layout to keep current with seasons and holidays, but for the love of GOD, please pay attention to your customers and their needs. This place it wretched, and the staff is unintelligible. I was in trying to buy some merchandise for my partner's birthday party, and after a good long search around the store I found some meager offerings and went to the register. After I finally got to the register, the clerk asked for some personal information, I believe it's for customer tracking/spam....whatever.. I declined to give my information and it stumped the guy so hard he just stared at me, slack jawed. He then stated that he needed the info... to which I asked "why?". No response....He then proceeded to call over another employee and asked if that was alright, that I didn't need to share information with them in order to buy some fake mustaches and a sombrero.... and holy hell, it was fine! Anyways, I go to use my card to pay, and the guy insists that I need to show him ID for a debit card transaction. Seriously? The PIN number is in place for a reason- I've worked for years in this level of employment and never once been required or advised by my employer that I MUST have a customer's ID for a debit transaction... The other girl came over and started saying how it was a rule, blah blah blah... A rule I'd never run into before when shopping there, so it must be brand new just for me! In any event, I just grabbed my purse and walked. And then went to the magical internet and found that the Landing is home to a local competitor who had 2X the amount of merchandise and 110% more and higher quality customer service.
