Giant cinnamon rolls. Be still my heart…read more This place is amazing. The baked goods are delicious in and of themselves, but when you factor in that they're all vegan and also have some gluten-free options, this place is doubly impressive. Mister Nice Guy's Bakeshop is hugely popular among vegans and non-vegans alike, and it's easy to see why once you've had your first bite of their giant cinnamon rolls, chocolate babkas, danishes, doughnuts, or cupcakes. They have a seriously impressive range of sweet goods, and also a few savoury ones (including vegan sausage rolls and pretzel dogs!) We've tried their cinnamon rolls, lemon cake, chocolate babka, chocolate danish, croissants, and a rosemary and potato thingie (the only savoury thing we've sampled so far). They were all delicious. The danishes were a little too rich for us but still good. The savoury one tasted exactly like potatoes au gratin and brought back childhood memories. The star of their offerings, though, is the cinnamon roll -- this was the first place I found a jumbo American-style cinnamon roll here in Australia, complete with heaps of sweet icing. The best cinnamon roll I've had in Australia, vegan or otherwise. They also do coffee here -- you can choose from soy, almond, coconut, rice, or even cashew milk. My non-vegan partner had the soy milk (Bonsoy) and loved it. Given the portion size of their baked goods, everything here is pretty reasonably priced. Service is super-friendly too, even on busy weekend mornings when they are slammed. Atmosphere is cute -- kind of 50s retro. Definitely a must-visit if you want delicious baked goods, especially if you have any dairy, egg, nut, or gluten allergies/intolerances. But even if you don't, this place is worth a visit.

I've dined at North & Eight three times now & I've been impressed by the food on each visit…read more It's true there is limited parking directly outside (it's on a main road) but there is plenty available just a very short walk away. On my first visit I enjoyed the veggie fritters, they were super tasty & very filling. It was hard to not opt for them again on my next visit. Instead I tried the polenta chips & mushroom ragout, it looked interesting but tasted fabulous with a nice zingy tomato relish. On my most recent dining experience I had the Korean fried chicken burger with a side of polenta chips & this did not disappoint either. Moist chicken, a slightly aromatic slaw & a lovely brioche bun. The polenta chips came with a hint of tomato relish. I was a little disappointed that as an extra side dish I only received 3 polenta chips but I needn't have feared as coupled with the burger my tummy was left sufficiently full. I've observed many dishes leaving the kitchen & they all look delicious. I'll be sure to try their poached chicken salad on my next visit, which will no doubt be soon. North & Eight have a variety of cakes, muffins & pastries as well as yummy ButterBings. So if you have any space left after your main course you can thrown in an extra treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. The coffee is good in my opinion, there are a number of teas on offer & also there take on the freak shake. North & Eight I believe offers fresh, tasty food that is reasonably priced. Generally an abundance of staff means that service is prompt. A nice fresh fit out makes for a great dining experience overall!!!

Pop in for a hit of coffee on a Sunday morning, when the dose from the Nespresso machine is just not cutting the mustard. Indulge in their Asian-influenced brunch menu when you've had one too many cocktails the night before, and your go to seeds / kale / superfoods will never satiate your hunger (then it's the Korean fried chicken open waffle you want). Service is always attentive, and it feels like the staff are all from the same family - descendants of immigrants, aiming to slap lashings of flavour onto bland breakfast staples, whilst delivering portions the size of your head. Good coffee, lovely Scandi-esque atmosphere and certainly worth the wait / struggle with parking / children, to eat there. You will leave feeling satisfied and ready to pop in the next time there's no queue out the front.
