First time doing a dune ride like this. Walked in with no reservation and we were able to book a guided tour right away. We ended up going out in a jeep which was able to accommodate our 2 1/2 yr old. First the guy that was working the counter, unfortunately his name escapes me, was great. He figured out what would be best for us and even got us into a cheaper package. He was genuinely grateful for our business. The tour guide Scott was awesome. Safety was his first goal and with him telling us what to do over the radio we felt really calm about climbing the steep dunes. He did a great job explaining the dunes themselves and about how the traffic flows etc. The jeeps were clean and in good working order. We could see them cleaning them after the tours and rotating different ones in and out. We are definitely coming back next year!!! read more

We were there 4th of July weekend, and staffing wasn't bumped up to accommodate the increased business. We were forgotten about while waiting in line to reserve a vehicle. We were told we would be able to depart early if we arrived 15min ahead of time but instead waited an extra half hour because the wrong truck number was written on our sheet. The staff was friendly and apologized for the inconvenience but overall the service was lackluster. read more

Please don't take your loved one's to this awful place. I'd recommend wild bills next door!!. We had a terrible experience at parrots landing, we booked a jeep for 2 hours, the staff did not provide us with correct instructions due to which we got stuck in traffic for an hour. When we returned to their office to complain about the hour that was wasted because of their mistake they ignored us for 20 mins. Which left us with 40mins of jeep time no possibility of extending our time. So we couldn't see the dunes all together. They accepted no responsibility for their lack of communication. So we wasted 300$ and over an hour of our time driving that jeep in ridiculous traffic. There were 3 other groups who called in with the same grievance and no one got any refund or extension. I hope no one's ever unfortunate enough to be forced to waste money on these rude people. read more

Absolutely fantastic! Scott was our tour guide. We had a total of 7 jeeps in our group. Scott communicated our position and landmarks via radio. Instructions were given to the drivers before leaving and reiterated as we got closer to each task. It was fun riding up and down the dunes and putting the pedal to the metal. We stopped at the midway point to dip our toes into Lake Michigan and take pics. We were on the sunset tour, so we were able to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan from the top of one of the dunes. Was a first for us going to any dunes. Wanted something fun that both my grown son and daughter would enjoy. Loved the jeep tour! Everyone in the facility who signed us and the tour guide were very friendly and helpful. The radio tour given by the guide was great. It may be hard for those with English as a second language to understand the instructions though. May be good to have the instructions on the website beforehand so people can review them. Would also be good to tell people not to eat close to tour time! We may not have enjoyed as much if we had time for breakfast...a lot of jolting and roller coaster effects :) None of the staff in the store masks though... Most visitors didn't either. Maybe one or two families besides us did. The tour guide wore only when came to our jeep window for some up close instructions, which was appreciated. He was an older gentleman. Hope and pray he stays safe. We weren't able to use our extra hour after the tour. They gave us gift certificate for the value to use till end of next season. Highly appreciated! DO NOT rent from them. We were given a good explanation before we left from a nice employee on how to approach the dunes in the jeep we rented. The guy informed us to follow the rules because the guy out there watching us "doesn't play around." I should have picked up in his tone that basically he meant the guy was a jerk. I get out there with my girlfriend, & two preteen boys, so I'm being careful. We hit one dune kinda fast after being out for 2 hours. The guy drives straight towards us, I thought he was some crazy guy trying to play chicken with us, and it's the employee telling us if we take a dune too fast again he's making us go back. I'm so paranoid and embarrassed that I barely made it up the next dune, he quickly comes over and tells me that's it I have to go now. I'm like are you serious? We barely made it up that one we went so slow. Some rental was cut an hour short. This was just the beginning. We drive back, with the jerk following us and when we pull in he starts telling the manager the front wheel looks bent inward. The manager looks at it for 2 minutes, doesn't put it on a lift, no alignment rack, & says yeah that's gonna cost you $1,700. You can claim it on your insurance or will charge your credit card. These people are scam artists and jerks. I said there is no way we did that, produce an inspection form showing me that you inspected this before I left, as we were told to look for body damage before we left out. They of course couldn't produce such a document. Needles ls to say I now have to take the matter up with my credit card company. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I would have given minus rating had it been possible. I would describe this place in 2 words: Poor communication and money minded. The instructor gave us all kind of instructions about where can we take the jeep and where we shouldn't drive but he didn't give clear map or instructions about how to reach to the sand dunes. So we were stuck in the stuck in a huge queue for one hour and then when we tried to talk to someone we didn't get good reasonable response or even our money back. And we heard this same complaint from at least 2-3 groups on the same day. I would never recommend this place to anyone and if you want to have some good fun time then you should go to other dunes rides places available in the same area. read more

He was friendly and well versed in getting everyone up to speed quickly on driving on the dunes. Jeeps were clean and in excellent condition. Shawn provided help when needed while out on our own. A fantastic experience. The cost of the sunset tour is a complete value considering the great experience we had. Our tour guide Bill spared us no thrill and the stories he told and information he had about the dunes enhanced the trip greatly. My daughter and I were visiting from Arizona and took the one hour tour and one hour self-guided on June 22. We were in Jeep "1" with Larry as our guide AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! Larry knew what he was talking about, talked drivers through any of the areas he was taking us into. I was really surprised at how frequently he encourage every to "speed up" while we were on the tour. The Jeeps were more than adequate for the tour and driving around on your own. I rented two four-wheelers from here for me and my sister. The price was fair and the staff was friendly and informative. When we got to the dunes the guy unloaded us then leaves. We start towards the dunes and my sister notices that back wheel on my four wheeler is wobbling a lot. So we stop called them, and they bring out another four wheeler. I also asked for more time because this was not my fault. We finally get out to the dunes and ride. About an hour later we stop for a bathroom break. I notice that my front tire is flat. I see the guy unloading more people, and I told him about it he said they will get me another 4 wheeler. I also see that one of the four wheelers he's unloading is the same one I had early, and it still had a wobbly tire. I asked for more time again, and I hear the manger complain about me over the radio. He said this is the last time. I'm thinking the first time wasn't my fault. They bring me a new four-wheeler, and the guy says there not giving me extra time because the rim is bent. We finish our time and get back for pick up at 6pm. We get back to shop he shows me the rim and say they never get bent rims. I either hit something with it or was jumping it. I was only riding the dunes nothing crazy. He wants 117 bucks the rim. I only payed 100.00 but I was pissed because I looked at the first four-wheeler and saw no damage, but the I didn't really look at the second one because we really need anted to get out there. So I have no idea if there was a little dent in the rim and I just made it bigger. It seems like they are screwing people to pay for repairs. If you rent from here make sure you look at all the rims and let them know. Also the crew member told me they have a guy out there watching everyone who rents there stuff. read more

After renting from Silver Lake Buggy Rental for the 5th year in a row (great, friendly people), our family decided to try another place next door as they had some nice Polaris 1000 RZR's. Enter, Parrot's Landing. Igor Fudym nailed it in his review (check Google reviews) with his second point, "(2) Do not communicate regulations (given no explanation of documents being signed, limitation on equipment being used) (3) Poor customer service (rude/ lack professionalism, refuse to reason)." They throw some paperwork at you with zero explanation - be prepared. Everything was going well and after about 50 minutes of driving we stopped near Lake Michigan to take a quick break and switch drivers. I hopped in, excited to drive, and upon turning the key it broke off at the base, leaving the rest of the key in the ignition. I wasn't able to even turn the key before it broke (it is one of those keys housed inside a rubber boot as to keep sand and mud out). I just thought to myself, great, now we are stranded. My brother was quick to get the number off the side of the equipment and call for help. 15 minutes later the older gentleman that rented the RZRs to us showed up. He showed up with nothing but a multi-tool and poked at it for about 10 minutes before calling someone else. Once his younger lacky showed up about 30 minutes later, he was able to get the broken key out and replace it with a new one. The younger one told us to "Be careful not to break this one, it is our last key." I just looked at him dumbfounded. He wasted no time accusing us of breaking this key, like we did it on purpose. I even stated to him that one of their guys had started it for us before we took off and this is actually the first time we have turned the key. His response, "We checked it before you started and it was fine." -This was a bold faced lie as we were there to witness the entire inspection and the key wasn't taken out or even touched until they turned it on! I looked to the older man who rented the RZRs to us and asked if they were going to extend our time due to their equipment's failure (we have lost an hour at this point, 1 hour = $150). He just looked at me and said, "No." before driving off in his vehicle. Both were very rude. I thought about it at this point and figured that he probably has a schedule to keep with other renters and needs them back, which I understand, so I figured I would just ask to be refunded for 1 hour once we return. When we returned to the Parrot's Scam Shack, they were nothing but rude to us. They started in with a condescending attitude and told us we were lucky they weren't going to charge us for a service/maintenance fee for the key. You got to be kidding me! I can't speak for anyone else there, but the two we dealt with were pure garbage - DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR MONEY! If something happens to you out on the dunes and you are truly not at fault you are pretty much SOL. This is my family's 5th year at the dunes and I can say without a doubt that we will never rent from these people again and that I will do my best to save others from the headache that will come from renting from these people. read more

Guys are scam artist. Rented a jeep for 3 hrs had my wife and two 12 year old girls with me and got a flat tire down at the exit while trying to pick up my sons. The guy came and changed the tire fairly quickly and we had gotten out a few min before our designated start time so I was not to worried about our lost time. Got back to the shop to turn the jeep in and they said I bent the rim and I owed $120 extra. I questioned how it could have gotten bent and the basically said that is not there problem. I also questioned the cost of the wheel at $120 for a standard steel jeep wheel. Again got a rude answer. We were taking it very easy and I heard them issue many warnings to other jeeps over the radio but not us, so they obviously did not find my driving to be to over the top. I did not want to make a scene in front of my family so I paid it and left. My guess is that it was bent previous to our trip and they probably sent the bent wheel out on another jeep and billed another guy the next day for bending the wheel as well. Go down the road and spend your hard earned money somewhere else read more
