Even though I very much enjoyed this dog park, it would have been better to have a water fountain for dog bowls INSIDE instead of having to go OUTSIDE the enclosure to fill up the bowl's interspersed inside. Mini skate park, outdoor tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields Recreation center with games and youth programs such as karate, basketball, soccer, baseball, football, cooking classes, and tiny tots. Multi-purpose rooms that you can rent out for parties, meetings, seminars and what not. Playground areas for little kids, with swings and slides and spinny things to make you dizzy. Gated dog parks/runs. One for big dogs, and another for the little ones. I guess there's always some drama here but I haven't used these... Lots of gazebos, tables and picnic areas, open grass areas, flora and fauna. It is simply just a beautiful park that you need to check out if you happen to be in East Chula Vista.

They have a small dog side and big dog side, but if you bring your big dog/puppy to the small dogs side, most people are usually okay with that as long as it's not too aggressive in its play. Both sides have pretty big areas so they have room to run, run, run. And bring that's it's a public park as well, it's all natural, with grass, dirt, and even gophers. Not much in shade; there's a couple of trees on each side. A couple of tables and benches, too, but that's it. Water stations on each side are good. Both sides have little dog obstacles/ramps for them to exercise on. Overall, it's a really good dog park, and the size is one of the biggest, if not the biggest dog park, in the county.

The dog park does have a parking area right next to it unless u want to walk through the park. They have two areas for the dogs- small and large. The small dog side is pretty decent size with water fountain, bowls, and doggie bag dispenser. It's pretty clean. It has a few agility equipment items. We tried the ramp and it was super steep so u need to run to get up it. It was a Tuesday morning so only one other dog not interested in playing but we sniffed until our hearts were delighted. There were more dogs on the big dog side. There is a little grass on the small dog side which is nice where as the big dog side is almost none. Overall this is a nice park to bring your pups!

There are at least 5 sitting benches in the medium/large dog area -- one bench in the designated "small dog area". There is one baggie dispenser/disposal at each end of the larger space & several other garbage bins. Pet Peeves at any dog park: 1. People who don't think the posted rules apply to them, especially when it comes to cleaning up after their pets. Particularly annoying are people who purposefully do NOT keep their eyes on their dogs (like sitting in one spot glued to their cell phone screen.) 2. People who are in denial about their dog's aggression toward other dogs: pups & people can & have been maimed & killed by out-of-control dogs. Yes, even in dog parks. Yes, even in Chula Vista. If an owner cannot voice control the animal, tragedy can easily occur. Sorry no LaLaLand -- "just be nice" doesn't cut it in the real world. A well trained dog is a necessity especially in dog park settings where "pack behavior" can progress to "mob behavior" when proper monitoring is not in play. Yeah -- just like humans, imagine that! That said, my experience In this park, like in all dog parks, is a mixed bag. In ORTC, I thankfully have found some experienced. well-trained dog owners and novices who are willing to learn what they need to know when introducing their dogs into a new mix of dog-play community. And, are savvy to passing their growing skills & knowledge onto their beloved pets. These owners are seeking community for themselves as well as their pets. Health and safety for all are the dominant values with such a supportive base. ORTC Dog Park is in the constant process of achieving that unique perspective among its dog-owning and shopping community.

There is plenty of parking - we've come at all times of the day and have never had an issue. You climb up a small hill and at the top you reach a large open grassy field. The trees are surrounding the border so you get a little bit of shade on the edges depending on the time of day. Also around the borders there are concrete benches to sit at, but we usually bring our own chairs. Our dog loves the open space here! So much room to run after her frisbee or chase other dogs. She definitely had good interactions with the dogs here, most seem very well socialized and the owners we've met have been friendly. Some things to keep in mind: - There are no poop bags, so you should bring your own. For a place that doesn't have them available, most of the owners here appear very responsible and have their own to clean up after their own pet. I've seen other parks with bags on site and the owners still don't pick up after their dog. - there are no water stations/fountains. However there are bowls around so you can bring water to fill them. - there are no fences. So once you climb up the hill, you're in an open park that has a natural barrier of shrubbery but I think there could be potential for dogs to wander away or out of it. We feel comfortable with our pup because her recall is pretty good. - lastly, no bathrooms!

There are 2 separate fenced in areas for Large and Small Dogs but since no other dog was there, we went into both sides. There is trash and dog poop people haven't picked up. It could have potential, but people need to find out about it, use it and keep it up. I probably won't be back. It sucks to have to drink to Otay or Ocean Beach to get a decent dog park

She said it's a great park...and it is! There's a section for small dogs, a section for first timers to the park, and then a large space for the rest. All the dogs Cako encountered were friendly, and a majority of the people too. I mean, some dog owners can be odd, but most smiled. Definitely worth checking out with your four legged family. It's nice to come to a dog park that still has grass. The city takes very good care of it. There's a water fountain as well! Cako Approves!
