But after hanging out closer to the airport side, we got spoiled with the smooth sand and no rocks. Condado Beach is full of rocks so running or working out is a challenge if you're into beach workouts. The beach is public however the resorts do a decent job of curtailing the public patrons. We stayed at Stellaris for the last leg of our trip and the resort gave out wrist bands to ensure employees knew were guest. It was easy to get lounge chairs as they would see us walking from the hotel and the wrist band was a quick give away. If you're a resort guest you'll get towels. Other people who were on lounge chairs with no towels had either paid for the chairs and/or were staying at the cheaper hotels behind the resort. In summation, although the location is live and busy, the beach is not the best on the island but it does the job. Would likely not stay in the area again as this beach wasn't the most beautiful on the trip. When you come to an island, the beach is the most important part and should be the most beautiful place you are.

A busy beach worker was setting up the chairs and umbrellas, and informed us that the chairs would be $20 for two and $15 for the umbrella. Luckily, I had cash on me which was a miracle..LOL! Once he finished setting up he advised that all guests of Marriott properties, chairs and umbrellas are complimentary.... BET! All you have to do is show your room key and BAM, I saved $35 bucks! I did give him a nice tip for the info because we would have never known and just paid the fee! I wanted to kick myself for only coming on our last day because it was truly the island vibe I enjoy.. Listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze.. Dope!

From that point on, it doesn't cost you anything unless you choose to spend money. It's a short walk from the parking lot to the beach. We had gotten there early, and decided to rent an umbrella and a pair of lounge chairs, which cost us $35 for the day. Considering we ended up spending nearly 7 hours on the beach, it was definitely worth the purchase price. The beach is gorgeous, and the water is rock free. It did get quite busy, but we actually enjoyed the people watching. There are vendors that walk up and down the beach, selling ice, creams and drinks, but there are also little Kioskos on the property that you can walk to easily to order hot food. At the one we visited, we got delicious slushy's, Pinchos, and empanadillas that were all delicious. We had a great time, and would absolutely go back in a heartbeat! When you leave the gated parking lot, you are literally around the corner from the Luquillo kioskos if you want to hit them up for shopping or dinner after your beach day. Makes things super convenient!

There is a map when you enter, parking is on the side of the road or they have parking lots the further you drive. There is a lot of parking so you would be likely to find parking as busy as it gets people come and go so parking becomes available. Even if you do have to wait it wouldn't be long before a spot is available. You see a waterfall at the beginning of the tour. As you proceed to drive up and view the rainforest further you will get to hike and find other waterfalls. Aside from waterfall there are beautiful trees and flowers. On one side you have the rainforest and on the other you have a view over the island.

Lovely visit the the El Yunque National Forest while staying in nearby San Juan…read more About a 45-minute drive from San Juan. No fee to enter the national forest...only an $8 fee when visiting El Portal Visitor's Center, which I recommend. I followed other visitor's recommendations by getting there when the forest opened and going directly toward the end to Mount Britton. I was luckily able to get one of those few designated roadside parking spaces. I finished the Mount Britton Tower (Torre) in about two hours (45-minute, 0.8-mile walk/hike each way) before making my way back toward the entrance stopping at the other attractions along the way. Note that it is about a 25-minute drive from the park's entrance to Mount Britton Trailside parking...due to the speed restrictions given the sharps turns and hills. As most others have said...the forest main road (191) goes one way through the forest, and loops back around towards the exit. Along the way, there are lots of stops...just look for the parking lots of roadside parking spaces and you will know you are close to an attraction. I ended the trip with visiting the El Portal Visitor's Center...at around 3:30pm...and it was very empty. I do suggest working the Luquillo Kiosks into the trip...given it is about a 15-minute drive away from the forest.

You show up early, you bring your gear, and you guard your spot like it's beachfront gold. Blink, and it's gone. And then there's the unofficial ritual: grab one of those smooth, not-too-strong piña coladas nearby sweet, icy, and easy going. But if you came prepared with a little extra "motivation" tucked away? Well, now you're not just at the beach... you're living right. A little mix, a little sun, and suddenly the whole day hits different. What really seals it is that convenience factor. Being steps away from where you're staying? That's dangerous in the best way. One quick walk turns into an all-day affair, and before long, this little stretch of sand feels like your personal backyard. Playita del Condado isn't trying to be the biggest or the boldest it just quietly delivers one of the best beach days you can have in Puerto Rico. And honestly? It's small so make sure you get there very early or else you won't have a place to lay your towel or blanket. It's also nice to come at night and enjoy the views of the businesses across the water and listen to the waves. Bonus tip, bring cocktails for added pleasure. FYI: The Piña Coladas they sell here are very expensive and low in alcohol compared to most places on the island but it is nice to have one in a pineapple while enjoying the beach and water. BTW: bring everything you need to enjoy a nice day here because it's one of the most amazing spots on the island and if you leave you'll lose your spot. I miss you Puerto Rico!!! Enjoy a Piña Colada for me ;)
