This beach has hosted, for many years (minus for some period of time a few decades ago) many Surfing contests and people who visit this beach usually visit it to surf. Not recommended to bathe and take the kids. 2. Because some huge surfing contests used to be held over more than 30-40 years ago, a huge "wave" of North Americans moved to Rincón and settled there. So, this city of Puerto Rico has a lot of either retired North Americans or North Americans that moved in the past and raised their families here. It's interesting that in this city, most people talk English and even a lot of the local businesses are owned by North Americans. 3. This beach is called "Domes Beach" since their is a huge dome right in the entrance. This Dome used to be part of a chemical plant that was closed after it was discovered that the beach was being polluted by it. 4. Finally, after years of the Chemical Plant being closed, local working hard to keep it clean, right now this beach has been restored and is one of the cleanest beaches in the area. Very popular amongst surfers and locals since Rincón's lighthouse is here in this "Rincón" of Puerto Rico (Rincón is Spanish for corner). Also, besides visiting the lighthouse and the small plaza there, a lot of people like to hike around the coast of this beach since there are some old fort-like ruins from when the Spaniards would protect the coasts of Puerto Rico, right before Puerto Rico ended up being United States territory. There is no beach here but you can enter the lagoon on your paddleboard or kayak. There is a kayak rental. The park is also good for exercising and playing sports. There is a path for walking, jogging or cycling. Safe, family friendly and dog friendly. There is a parking lot and street parking available, restrooms, and a soda machine. There is no parking for the beach on the northern section. A nonprofit conservation group called El Estuario de La Bahia de San Juan hosts a family friendly event every 1st Saturday of the month here with games and educational topics. At 7pm they screen a movie free of charge. The movies are dubbed in Spanish with English subtitles. Overall, the Laguna is a nice place to hang out.

But after hanging out closer to the airport side, we got spoiled with the smooth sand and no rocks. Condado Beach is full of rocks so running or working out is a challenge if you're into beach workouts. The beach is public however the resorts do a decent job of curtailing the public patrons. We stayed at Stellaris for the last leg of our trip and the resort gave out wrist bands to ensure employees knew were guest. It was easy to get lounge chairs as they would see us walking from the hotel and the wrist band was a quick give away. If you're a resort guest you'll get towels. Other people who were on lounge chairs with no towels had either paid for the chairs and/or were staying at the cheaper hotels behind the resort. In summation, although the location is live and busy, the beach is not the best on the island but it does the job. Would likely not stay in the area again as this beach wasn't the most beautiful on the trip. When you come to an island, the beach is the most important part and should be the most beautiful place you are.

We paid nothing to park or enter the beach. It was generally pretty quiet- some locals and some tourists, but everyone seemed to keep to themselves. It appeared as if some homeless people were living in tents under the cabanas. The shaded part of the park does have a bit of garbage strewn around and doesn't look too well maintained. If there are bathrooms available, I didn't see them. Despite some of these drawbacks, we loved it here. There is SO much beach to walk along both left and right of the entrance.

FYI: The Piña Coladas they sell here are very expensive and low in alcohol compared to most places on the island but it is nice to have one in a pineapple while enjoying the beach and water. BTW: bring everything you need to enjoy a nice day here because it's one of the most amazing spots on the island and if you leave you'll lose your spot. I miss you Puerto Rico!!! The shore has the beautiful earl shells with purple on the inside. Waters are medium some days it may be calmer than others. Other days the waves may be a bigger lol I love all the food items they sell while sun bathing. The heritage of the flags on the beach you feel the boricua pride.
