The Río Piedras Tennis Club is located here. They open everyday and offer classes. Located adjacent to the park are a basketball court and a soccer/field hockey field. But they haven't been well taken care of. If you have kids, dogs, or like playing tennis, I recommend this park. It is centrally located, right on Domenech Ave., which has lots of good food options.

There were a small group of people practicing Tai Chi, a part of the recreation area was playground with odd, interactive, life-size fixtures and minimal displays again of el "Indio". There is a map when you enter, parking is on the side of the road or they have parking lots the further you drive. There is a lot of parking so you would be likely to find parking as busy as it gets people come and go so parking becomes available. Even if you do have to wait it wouldn't be long before a spot is available. You see a waterfall at the beginning of the tour. As you proceed to drive up and view the rainforest further you will get to hike and find other waterfalls. Aside from waterfall there are beautiful trees and flowers. On one side you have the rainforest and on the other you have a view over the island.

No fee to enter the national forest...only an $8 fee when visiting El Portal Visitor's Center, which I recommend. I followed other visitor's recommendations by getting there when the forest opened and going directly toward the end to Mount Britton. I was luckily able to get one of those few designated roadside parking spaces. I finished the Mount Britton Tower (Torre) in about two hours (45-minute, 0.8-mile walk/hike each way) before making my way back toward the entrance stopping at the other attractions along the way. Note that it is about a 25-minute drive from the park's entrance to Mount Britton Trailside parking...due to the speed restrictions given the sharps turns and hills. As most others have said...the forest main road (191) goes one way through the forest, and loops back around towards the exit. Along the way, there are lots of stops...just look for the parking lots of roadside parking spaces and you will know you are close to an attraction. I ended the trip with visiting the El Portal Visitor's Center...at around 3:30pm...and it was very empty. I do suggest working the Luquillo Kiosks into the trip...given it is about a 15-minute drive away from the forest.

Definitely wear water shoes, (or tennis shoes you don't mind getting wet.) The rocks are super slippery, but totally worth the views and the swim under the falls. If you park in the falls parking lot, you will have a super steep set of stairs to get down/ back up. There are a few overlooks that you can see the falls without walking all the way down. The drive to the falls is as much of an adventure as the falls themselves- super windy and narrow roads- but a beautiful area!

Both were beautiful as well as the grounds. Rocks can be slippery so con cuidate! It's also a lil bit of hike when youre coming back up the steps, so preparado! Cooler temperatures are welcome due to all the shade from the trees. Parking is 10 bucks but we got in gratis. There's a little cantina para refrescos but it closes early at 6pm.

It helps that the lighthouse is located on a hill which distances it from the replicas of pirate ships, huts, and caves. There's plenty to love and hate about this park. I went to the park on a Tuesday, I did not see any other guests while I was there. This may be why there was no one available to collect my admission at the entrance for about 15 minutes. Another staff member sat on his cart waiting at the entrance and appeared to radio for help. This would have been okay except I really needed a restroom pit stop after the drive. The admissions clerk spoke English which was not necessary but helpful. There are restrooms by the lighthouse and by the cafe. The bathroom was clean, but there was no soap. Since there were no other customers, I was able to just relax for over an hour just taking in the ocean views and enjoying the breeze. For solo female travelers during the week, this feels safer than some of the isolated beaches nearby (I could just be overcautious). The lighthouse appears to be well-kept. The small museum was open inside the lighthouse, but there wasn't an option to climb the lighthouse. Not sure if they offer this option on the weekends though. I mainly stopped for the lighthouse, but since I was there, I checked the rest of the park out. The area with the huts was cool and provided historical info. However, the cave could use some major improvement. It's almost too dark. If it's going to be that dark, the signs with historical info need to be illuminated properly. The fish tanks need cleaning!!! Also, only one door was open. When I reached the end of the cave, that door was locked. This seems like a fire hazard. Two exits need to be open whenever the exhibit is open. Just imagine the chaos that could ensure on busier days when families are there and there is a fire or emergency. The cave, the "gift shop," and the long wait for admission to be collected caused the loss of 2 stars. I do love that the lighthouse is well maintained since it is in this park especially since 6 out of 15 lighthouses in PR are in dire need of restoration. Although it gets a 3 star rating, I would definitely return for just the ocean views and the lighthouse.

The bird and butterfly pavilions are simply amazing. The animals are so close that at times you almost wonder if they are real until a bird squawks, blinks, or moves. The experience feels much more personal than many larger attractions and was a huge hit with our children. The cable cars are an incredible experience and offer some truly spectacular views. Riding above the forest is something we will remember for a long time. However, if you have an extreme fear of heights, you should know that this attraction may be challenging. The views throughout the park are beautiful, and there are several small playgrounds where children can take a break and play. There are also long nature trails and an observation tower that offer even more opportunities to enjoy the scenery. That said, visitors should understand that this is a physically demanding park in some areas. If you have mobility limitations, certain disabilities, or are pushing a stroller, you may not be able to experience everything. There are many long walking paths, steep hills, and staircases throughout the park. The park does provide warning signs before many of these sections, so pay attention to them. The path leading to the cable cars also includes stairs, and during our visit the elevator was out of service. This made things particularly difficult for visitors with disabilities and families using strollers. Bring water. Bring snacks. Do not attempt to visit without them, especially if you plan to explore the trails. The Puerto Rico heat and the amount of walking can catch up with you quickly. Transportation is another thing visitors should plan carefully. We relied on Uber, which worked, but drivers generally only dropped us off and picked us up at the main parking lot rather than the actual park entrance. The distance is significant enough that visitors must take the shuttle bus to the entrance. The shuttle runs regularly and gets the job done, but think converted school bus rather than luxury transportation. The gift shop is somewhat small and the prices are a bit high, but honestly, it felt worthwhile. Purchasing something there felt like supporting the important work being done at the park. Overall, our family had an outstanding experience. I think Parque Forestal La Marquesa is a perfect introduction to nature and hiking for children who may not yet be ready for more demanding adventures like El Yunque. It allows kids to experience the beauty of Puerto Rico's natural environment in a setting that feels adventurous while still being family friendly. We made wonderful memories here and would absolutely visit again!

You can tell you are there because there is a light, if you turn left it's into the beach area and paid parking ($5). Or turn left and you can park on the street for free. We walked across the whole park and explored, took pictures, ran from chickens (well roosters), etc. If you go later in the week there is a restaurant that is open (Wed - Sat or Thurs - Sat). That would have a pretty cool view and is in a pretty old historic building. On the way back we walked across the civilian bridge towards the beach. The second we got on the bridge we got cooled off because the beach breeze made it that far. Walked back along the beach and had some additional photo opps. Keep this in mind, the heat of the day it does get warm. It's easy, relatively flat walking, but hot non the less. Take some water so you don't get over heated. We'd recommend this as part of your stay in San Juan if you like exploring historical type locations.

Well,…read morewhether you slip, hit your head and hallucinate because you *chose* to skate during bad weather through a 1/2 inch of rain; OOORR you simply safely stroll around looking for a nice spot to take your kids to, just know this park is one of the oldest in the island, and a nice, old-school way to kill time. But as is the case with beaches in Puerto Rico, avoid it during very late afternoon and night time unless there's a special event of some sort. There's an awesome nearby hamburger joint, creatively called "El Hamburger" :-P where you can have the best cheap burger afterwards. Or perhaps go to Old San Juan or Condado, which are both less than 10 minutes away by car. ---------------------------------------En Puertorro, ahora------------------------------------ Bueno, definitivamente no es muy buena idea escoger patinar cuando está lloviendo a cántaros, en este parque o donde sea... Pero este parque es muy lindo y una buena alternativa para hacer algo activo y fuera de la casa, sea solo, ejercitando acompañado o con niños, ya que hay áreas de recreo específicamente para niños. Por supuesto, como en todo parque y playa en Puerto Rico, no es recomendable estar ahí en la noche, para evitar robos o situaciones lamentables, salvo que hubiera algún evento especial en que haya mucha gente, claro. Cerca de ahí, como a 5 minutos, hay un sitio de hamburguesas que se llama "El Hamburger", y es muy bueno. Otra alternativa después-de es Condado o el Viejo San Juan, ya que quedan como a 10 minutos en carro desde el parque. :-)
