I've been going to Beauty Parlr since they opened, because I was formerly a long time client of Jenn Kyett, the best lash expert in New England, who joined their team at the initial launch of this unique, upscale salon. The owner Rachael Rubin is the visionary behind Beauty Parlr, a unique spot for beauty and transformation in MetroWest. Framingham clearly was ready for Rachael's vision, as I've seen them grow rapidly over the past 12 months. I love that as a mature woman, I can go somewhere that makes me feel glamorous just walking into their front door set in a cluster of buildings which house galleries, photography studios and Massachusetts Ballet Academy. Mostly recently Rachael has added some extraordinary talent in the area of hair design. I am particularly excited that Kenia Perry, one of the top stylists in MetroWest, has joined this stellar team. I don't even know where to begin. I have been going to beauty Parlr from day one when Rachael had one stylist, and today she has an empire, but today I want to tell you about Reiki and the amazing Paula. It's really hard to explain what Reiki is, but it's all about good energy, it's a healing technic where the therapist channels good energy with oils and her body heat. when you feel stressed and need to reset, this is the best way to do it. Now talking about Reiki, not everyone who does Reiki can channel those energies, in my opinion it's either you have it or you don't, well, Paula is A M A Z I N G, I have never experienced anything like that and I've been doing Reiki for some time, when it was time for me to open my eye, I really couldn't open them, I was so relaxed and felt all the good energy running through my body. I brought my daughter to Beauty Parlr for her prom in May for an updo and make-up. I was lucky enough to be able to get her in for an appointment with only a couple of weeks notice because they had added more staff to deal with the prom rush/season. The salon is fun and chic and creative. The cost was not cheap, as it was $205 without tip for the hair and make-up plus the fake eyelashes, but I have to say, so worth it. My daughter was beaming. She looked lovely, but just as importantly, she thoroughly enjoyed her time at Beauty Parlr and the people who worked on her. It was such a wonderful time for her there, and the results speak for themselves. The experience was so worthwhile, I decided to treat my daughter for a cut and color here again, though she hasn't had that appointment yet, but I'll update this review after that appointment to let you know about the cut and color services. read more

There are so many amazing things about Beauty Parlr that I'm not sure where to start! My first experience there was for a photo shoot and everything about the day was incredible! So when my regular hair person started getting sloppy and my cuts weren't quite right and the color was meh, I kept looking at my pictures from the photo shoot and said "that's what I want." Andrea did an amazing job cutting and styling my hair. It has energy and life again, and the style is updated just enough to be fresh but not trendy. She really listened to what my lifestyle needs were and was really thoughtful and informative with different styling and care techniques. I'm going back next week to get the color done and for the first time I can remember I'm excited about the process! I have been going her for awhile but today was about my friend that tried Parlr for the first time. She has been going through a horrendous time lately and I wanted her to see herself for the way we see her and not the way she's been feeling. So I signed her up for hair, makeup and a photoshoot. Well!!! Parlr did not disappoint. She was treated like a queen and although she HATES being the center of attention, she did something she had not been doing much .....laugh! Although the management is lovely, I hated my hair for my wedding. I had five consultations with them at least... I knew I should have changed and gone with someone last minute but didn't because it was getting too close to my actual wedding date. I was so disappointed and will forever be upset they couldn't achieve the updo I wanted and regret not taking it down. And now that it has been awhile since my wedding I've seen so many other brides with gorgeous updos and I'm just so regretful... especially with the lack of guidance given to me and work they produced. read more

It wasn't easy to find the place and it looks shabby from the outside but once you walk in it's totally different. The space is huge and very nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly. You get a 20% discount as a first time clients. They provide multiple services from massages to facials, nails, waxing, and even microblading. I am giving this business a one star review because once you go into a hair consultation and are given a set of recommendations for your hair, you are not allowed to do anything less than what is in that set of recommendations. I went in for a consultation and was told that I needed 5 separate things done to my hair to achieve the look I wanted. That is outrageous. I just had my first experience with Reiki. Paula at Beauty Parlr is truly a gifted soul. If you have never tried Reiki because you are skeptical or don't know a good place, Beauty Parlr has an amazing and talented healer. During my session, I definitely felt the flow of energy, the release of repression I had which manifested itself with an inability to take deep breaths. Durning the session Paula asked questions that were completely related to me and my life. Some of the flow of energy and the release of my emotional oppression manifested itself in a continuous flow of tears from my closed eyes , even though I was not crying or having any emotional experience. It was just a flow of energy. After my session and upon returning to my chaotic life, I felt detached from the things that would normally put me "through the roof". As if they could not touch me. My hair was very hard to work with because I work at a spray tanning salon and my hair has turned orange because of that...but Jenna covered up the orange with no problem and made me blonde again I highly recommend Jenna she did such a great job and put a lot of time into it. read more

This place is very good. I received balayage and it turned out how I wanted it to. I appreciated the time and care Kania took to do my hair perfectly. I'm pretty new to coloring my hair so I wasn't expecting it to take 5 hours to completely do or the $300. But it does explain on the website the costs of services. Lauren Goldstein did my hair today. She did an excellent job with my color and cut. I highly recommend her and this salon. I have blonde hair that is very hard to get right so I was very impressed with how it turned out. The location is a bit hard to find, inside a warehouse on the third floor, but once you get inside the salon it is very cutely decorated. Apparently they also do waxing, spray tans and photography too. Something that really impressed me was that the owner came and introduced herself to me, that was very sweet and made me feel like she truly appreciated my business and cared about her business. read more

I recently had a "lifestyle" photography session at PARLR and it was beyond amazing. Shelby, the makeup artist was exceptional and made me feel so beautiful. Best makeup I have ever had! I recently went to Parlr to have work headshots taken. I had a great experience. I decided to have my hair and makeup done for the photos. The makeup artist was very sweet and really listened to what I was looking for. The makeup photographed very well. She had a great understanding of what kind of makeup application would look good on camera. The hate stylist was also wonderful. She gave me waves, which fell beautifully on camera. The photographer was also great. She made me feel very comfortable and I came away with many great photos. It was hard to choose just a few! I worked with Rachel for a boudoir photo shoot... and it was an amazing experience. Rachel made me feel comfortable from the beginning and we had so much fun during the entire process! I opted for one of the larger packages and am so glad I did... We had lots of room to change up looks and capture many amazing shots. I was also glad that we worked in her studio where there are not many prop elements so that the photos are just you. I am very critical of myself and was nervous that the photos weren't going to come out the way I was hoping. Before the shoot ended, Rachel showed me some of the raw photos and I was floored. I absolutely love the Beauty Parlr! The staff are all very warm and friendly, and will make you feel comfortable the moment you step foot inside. Not to mention how talented her whole team of artists are. I go there when I'm doing photo shoots with Rachael in the RLR Studio, and her team always does an amazing job to get me camera ready. Update: Since my initial review I've had two people from the salon reach out to me to rectify the situation. I appreciate that they are taking the time to ensure a positive client outcome. I'm headed back for a color correction and am looking forward to working with them on this and being able to give one final update to my experience with the salon after my appointment. Beyond disappointed. I rarely splurge and do my hair but this place came so highly recommended I threw caution to the wind. High prices be damned. I was going for it. Well that certainly came back to bite my wallet in the butt. In all seriousness, I truly am disappointed by the outcome. I had a picture of the color and the cut that I wanted. The color is so far off from what I had requested. In talking with the stylist and showing her the picture, I thought it was clear that my goal was to go (much) darker than my natural color. And to avoid blonde highlights. After three hours I walked out with my natural hair color, that was slightly darker at the top and blonde-ish highlights. I don't even have words. Tomorrow is my first day back to work after maternity leave and I was so excited to show off my new do. I was also looking forward to feeling better about myself in a body that doesn't quite feel back to its pre-baby self. That is no longer the case. The color is terrible and the cut is far less than what I had expected after again I had a clear picture to show her of what I wanted. It truly feels as though the salon was more concerned with signing me up for more expensive services, some of which I didn't even know about until I saw the bill and taking pictures of the "after" than being upfront with clients and ensuring client satisfaction. So I will drown my sorrows in wine and tater tots while I try to either find someone that can correct the color and cut or move onto the world of box dyes. My hair is naturally blond, but I've been dying it brown for over a year. Andrea decided that the best option would be to go for the balayage vs. full highlights or lifting the color. I never write reviews, but Lori at Parlr gave me the best hydrofacial! I went in super uncomfortable with the way my skin was acting and she made me look and feel fantastic. She started by explaining the whole process and the products she was going to use, then kept me informed through the facial with everything she was doing. Finally before I left she helped me understand why my skin was acting up and how I could make some minor changes to keep it looking great. My face was a tiny bit red, normal for the hydrofacial, as I went home, but this morning when I woke up I was AMAZED at how great my skin looked. Rachael is GREAT! I came to her for my senior portraits, and both my proms, and left satisfied each and every time. While the services are a bit pricier, it is totally worth it! I would much rather contribute to a small local business, than a chain salon. Her new space in framingham is SO COOL, and has an awesome industrial/chic vibe (if that's even possible.) Her staff are all very talented, and will always listen to what you want. As an amateur photographer, I am so impressed by Rachael's work, and her commitment to pleasing her clients. My makeup artist did an amazing job!! Being African-American, I was a little hesitant about going to a new, unfamiliar place to get my makeup done. But I was not disappointed! My makeup came out absolutely beautiful and virtually flawless and lasted all day just like they promised! My only gripe is the crazy 3 flights of stairs that you have to climb to get to the studio (no, there is no elevator). I'm not particularly in shape, so at 8am, that was quite the challenge for me.
