Had a wonderful massage from Marcia. She targeted all problem areas per my request and I left feeling extremely relaxed from my massage. She also knows a lot about the body, not just the massage part, so I was left educated as well and I will be taking her advice. Serene Scape itself is a clean and welcoming environment. The owner was very friendly and approachable. There are a lot of services offered and I am determined to try a few more of them. I'd give this place more than 5 stars if I could! Serene-Scape is a full-service salon and spa that I've been going to for 5+ years. I started going there bc of the strong yelp reviews and they were 100% on point. Even after moving to Roslindale over a year ago, I continue to come out to Marlborough every 5-6 weeks for services because I love them so much. I see Karen (the owner) for hair and Ellen for waxing and facials. Both women are extremely professional and quite gifted at their crafts. Both really listen to what I want and any concerns I may have. In addition to hair and aesthetics, Serene-Scale offers a nail salon and massage, as well as laser hair removal on a part-time basis. They have a variety of products for sale, but they don't push buying any of them, like other salons can tend to do. The staff really seems to get along well with each other and when I go there, I know I will be entertained, and leave feeling gorgeous. read more

My wedding was November 3, 2017 and I had Karen from Serene Scape Day Spa do my hair, as well as my daughter and granddaughter. We were more than happy with our ups-dos. My hair looked exactly like I had wanted it. Our hairdos lasted through a very windy photo shoot outside as well the entire reception. My hairdo looked romantic and glamorous, without being fussy. I just loved it. We also had a Ellen, her associate do our makeup and were very pleased with the look. The maid of honor and I looked soft, polished and glamorous without looking overdone. The quality of the makeup was excellent. Ellen's work was professional and lovely. Both these ladies were professional and fun, and made this experience so happy on my special day. Wonderful service, great price, nice staff. First time here on a spawish certificate, and certainly will be back. Although I love my hairdressers at Solomon's Dellaria, I just can't be shelling out $150 for color, cut and blow dry 4-6 times a year. Who can in this economy? If you are a Golds Gym member, you will always get 10% off, and they offer full spa services. Looking forward to my next cut, and trying perhaps the massages! Clean place, nice people. Inexperienced. They did not know the basics for hair coloring. Asked for blonde hair came out with orange-cooper bleached hair. To top it off they told me I could correct it once I got home. Umm if I am paying over $300 to do my hair why do I need to correct it when I get home? How dare they even charge me for the mess they made? As far as the scenery, tacky! Popcorn ceiling with yellow water stains. Walls with plaster that hasn't been fixed and dirty. Very small. They don't have lockers for your things but ask you to change in the restroom. Worst spa I've ever been to as far as price, scenery and quality. Hard to believe its in business. read more

I recently went to Serene Scape after finding that my last salon in Boston did not offer perms. I got Karen, the owner, and was at first very pleased with the end result. However, I went back yesterday to get a follow up trim and liven up the curl, but was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism. She was more concerned with her kids after school activities, picking up her phone during my appt, and worrying about other stylists mis-scheduled appts. She never really paid much attention to what she was doing and consequently did not cut both sides of my hair the same length. With short hair...it is very obvious! And to add to it...I was charged $50 for a wash and bad cut...she didn't even need to blow dry or style it. Sorry...but I will not be going back! read more

I tried this place out and got Karen, the owner. I was thrilled that she was able to cut and style my fine thin hair into something that resembled full with body, and even brought out all my natural curl!! This, because my hair has a tendency to lie flat and lifeless if given half a chance, is really saying something. Better yet, the cut and blowdry took only a half hour and cost $45. So much better than the $70 I'd pay in Boston for the same thing. I've been back several times since and have been very pleased. I'm definitely becoming a regular. I was looking for a new place to try and because of the excellent reviews I read, I decided to try this place. Karen the owner created a new style for me that I absolutely love. I needed something new and uplifting and she did an amazing job. I also had Ellen wax my eyebrows and lip. Not only did she shape my brows she made sure that she got every tiny hair imaginable. The shop is very comfortable, the service was exceptional and I was made to feel like I had been going there forever. I made an appointment on the spot for my next cut and wax. Serene Scape is great for hair and nails. I love this place. And I have a high bar! HAIR: Karen, the owner, is extremely talented. For me, the sign of a good haircut is whether it looks great when I dry my hair myself and at the end of the month. My haircuts from Karen are so good that when I dry my hair myself - - and I'm not good at it - - it comes out looking great, and even at the end of the month, my hair looks so good someone will inevitably say to me "I love your hair." Just as I need a haircut! Karen is also an outstanding colorist. She will find the perfect color for your skin tone. You'll look like a million bucks. Even though you'll pay less than you would in Boston (believe me, I used to go to Newbury Street; Karen is better than anyone I ever went to, even on Newbury St with its fancy prices.) One of the other things I think is great is Karen's commitment to her own professional growth. She regularly attends the "hair show" and comes back with new ideas. Karen also understands what you mean when you say things like, "I like it "piece" and "don't make it like a cap." She is also efficient. She has a good sense of timing and doesn't waste your time (which I appreciate). When you're in her chair, you're in her chair. So if you want a great haircut and color, this is the place for you. NAILS: Eva is a wonderful manicurist. People always comment on my nails. They think I go more often than I actually do, but that's because Eva does a great job and it just looks like I go more often! She is a wonder with the emery board and also with the little pointy thing, like if your nail or toe nail is bothering you, she'll figure it out. Her station and pedicure station is very clean and she always sanitizes everything metal (and throws out the wood sticks after one use on a client.) She is very professional and really knows a lot about a lot of things, home remedies and stuff like that. This all makes for a good and healthy experience and you'll probably learn something new when you talk to her! She is meticulous - she even puts on reading glasses to make sure she gets every nook and cranny. Eva gives a great pedicure. Your toenails will look and feel fantastic. One last word - I have to say that Linda, the receptionist, is terrific. She gets all the appointments right and is efficient at the desk. When you're at the desk, you have her full attention. But beyond that, she's the nicest woman - she makes you feel when you go to the desk like you are important and the salon is glad you're there. She has a real gift for hospitality. The fact that Linda is at the front desk to me shows that Karen cares about her customers. read more

I went there for make-up and hair. Must say they did a horrible job! Karen the hair stylist was rude and very moody. Quite arrogant. The makeup person did not know what she was doing. When I asked her if she could apply fake lashes for me, she said she didn't know how to apply fake eyelashes and that I should have informed them while booking the appointment about the EXTRA work. The salon had a stench of all the hair processing that they do. Its quite overpowering. Never going back again! read more

Serene Scape is a fantastic salon. I am always so happy with all of the services that I have at Serene Scape. I'll start with hair - -Karen is an amazing hair stylist. She knows what she is doing! My hair has never looked better - color, cut and style. She gives great blow dries and is really personable. Waxing - Ellen does an incredible job on my brows. I won't let anyone else touch them now that I have been going to Ellen. She also does my daughter's waxing and has really improved her brows. My daughter has tricky brows and Ellen really has been able to keep them in line. She is fantastic. I also have had Reflexology with Ellen and she was amazing. Nails - I love Sue for nails. She does an amazing pedicure and manicure. She is personable and careful with what she is doing and very clean. The whole salon is very clean, professional and friendly. I can't say enough about Serene Scape. It is truly an amazing salon with so many offerings from hair, nails, wax, massage, facial, etc. I have been very happy with every service that I get!! I went to this Spa with high expectations . The place is clean as compared to other salons that I've been to. The receptionist was very friendly and so was the stylist. Nevertheless I am very disappointed with the hair cut itself. I had a picture of the cut that I wanted but the stylist took a quick one second glance of it and rushed through my cut . The result was no where close to what I wanted , and mind you I have nice thick hair which is not that difficult to style . In the end my hair is longer on one side than the other and there is a bunch of hair that is short in the back. I don't cut my hair often so it is very disappointing when I don't get the results I want. Not to mention $40 for simple layers. Will not be going there again. read more

I was looking for somewhere in the area to get a massage. They were able to accommodate the date/ time I needed so I booked. It was the worst massage I've ever had. Being new to the salon, the masseuse tried talking to me during the massage. I was there to relax not have small talk. On top of that the small talk consisted of her breaking up with her boyfriend and how she didn't even want to go into work the day of my massage but "she had to do what she had to do". That is the last thing I want to hear during my relaxation time. I know I have some trouble areas but the massage itself was painful. If the person wasn't standing there the whole time at checkout I would have complained on the spot. Definitely not worth the money and tip she received. I have been going to this salon since it opened and gotten my hair cut and colored there. It's always been a good experience. The staff is friendly, the place is spotless, things run on time, and best of all, I get a great haircut! I have been going to Karen for more years than I can remember, even before she opened the salon. She has helped me change my hairstyle, and talked me through the process, always with a fantastic result. I have even been stopped in stores afterward and been complimented on my haircut and color. I can't say enough good things about the salon. Everyone that works there seems to care about their clients and want to make their spa experience a great one. What more could you ask for. I went to Serene Scape for the first time today, for a hair cut. Monica was very friendly, answered all my questions, and cut my hair as I had asked, based on a photo I 'd brought, also giving suggestions as to how it will work with my hair. The salon was very clean, and Monica also gave me a tour of the place (we'd talked about other services they provide). She did not push any of these services on me which of course was nice :) I will definitely be back for my next cut. I marked 4 stars rather than 5, not because I thought it was lacking anything, but because I feel there is always room for improvement in any service industry :) read more
