In June of 2017, we were on our "Dollywood" vacation and were staying in a cabin near the Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend, Tennessee. We were 22 miles from Dollywood (in Pigeon Forge, TN) and there were no big supermarkets near our location. One of the benefits of renting a cabin is having a fully stocked kitchen. Inevitable, we ran short of a few items so I exited the hills and hit the main drag (E. Lamar Alexander Parkway). Just a few miles from our cabin, I stumbled upon the Parkway Grocery. Although this is no full service grocery store such as a Kroger's, it served us well for the 5 days we were here. I'd say Parkway Grocery is more like a convenience store with a few aisles of miscellaneous grocery items. They sell all your typical convenience store sundries such as milk, eggs, bread, water, sodas, beer (no wine or hard liquor), some canned goods, chips, ice, propane and even firewood. Heck, there's even a small food "counter" at the front to pick up a sandwich. Normally, this would be a 3-star rating of A-Ok. However, the staff here was super friendly every single time I came here. In fact, they seemed very happy to engage me in conversation. Perhaps it was my deep Southern drawl, but the employees here were very nice people. They also have a few gas pumps here and I filled up our rental car several times , as the prices were actually pretty competitive for being in a somewhat "remote" location. All in all, this is a cool, no frills store with very nice people working here.

Sometimes a store doesn't need to change your life…read more Sometimes you just need a bathroom, a drink, a snack, and the ability to get back on the road without creating a major expedition. That's exactly where The Village Market IGA came through. We stumbled upon it while traveling and found ourselves in one of those situations every road trip eventually creates: the snack supply was running low, thirst levels were rising, and a restroom stop had become a strategic necessity. The Village Market IGA delivered on all fronts. The place occupies a unique category that I can't quite define. It's either an exceptionally well-stocked convenience store or a small grocery store that accidentally became convenient. Either way, it works. The selection was surprisingly good, making it easy to grab some road snacks and a Snapple before continuing our adventure. The aisles were well stocked, and unlike some roadside stores where your choices are limited to three flavors of regret and an energy drink you've never heard of, there was actually some variety. The bathrooms were relatively clean, which on a road trip is often the difference between a pleasant stop and a story you tell for all the wrong reasons. The staff was friendly, efficient, and moved people through quickly. No drama. No delays. No waiting behind someone trying to decide which lottery tickets would finally change their life. Just a smooth stop and back on the road. Was it life-changing? No. Did I discover the meaning of existence between the Snapple cooler and the potato chips? Also no. But it was clean, convenient, well stocked, and staffed by nice people. And honestly, that's exactly what I wanted. Four stars. Because sometimes competence deserves recognition, and because I left with everything I came for--which is more than I can say for some stores charging twice as much.

We live in Townsend and stop in several times a week for what we need. The store is surprisingly well stocked and they truly appreciate your business. Great place, please support them.

Being here makes me incredibly sad that I don't have one anywhere near me…read more Let's talk about the hot food first ! We had the best brisket sandwich. The sauce is a little sweet, I recommend the sliced brisket over the chopped brisket any day. I would recommend to just skip The three meat sandwich, all you could taste is a sausage- and this may be a hot take... But I don't love the sausage. As for the chicken tenders, wait until it's hot fresh and just put out and it's a life-changing experience. The Buc-ee's sauce is the only way to go. You can get barbecue sauce or honey mustard at any other place. The fries are definitely better than the homemade chips. I did not like those chips, I don't know if I just didn't have them hot and fresh, but I would say skip them. We got some banana pudding to go. Also, would not recommend. It's vanilla pudding with some bananas and wafers. I like my banana pudding to be banana pudding not vanilla pudding with bananas, etc.. We grabbed some essential road trip, snacks, including Buc-ee's nuggets, two different kinds of beef, jerky, peanuts, pickle, flavored potato sticks, and some of their signature mince, both the cotton candy and the traditional. We also got some of their signature cola. The diet cola was mid, the regular was better. and in addition to the snacks and food, we also picked up a hat and a T-shirt for both of us. The staff were amazing. This place is like Grand Central Station, it gets very crowded very fast. Speaking of fast, the cashiers and folks working at the meat carving station were legendarily fast.. The whole experience is great ftom the moment you park in the clean parking lot until the moment you checkout! and if you need to use their bathrooms those are also pristine with a great light system that tells you exactly which stall is open. This place is a well oiled machine designed to be a road tripper's paradise
