The walk takes about 15 minutes and is a great way to start your day each morning. There are also kayaks, board games, tennis courts, corn hole boards, a pool and hot tub available for hotel guests. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy and are well appointed with bath robes, a small refrigerator/freezer, seating area and outdoor balcony for upgraded rooms with a lake view. A basic continental breakfast is offered in the lobby every morning with coffee and tea available throughout the day. This family run resort is a family favorite for a reason! Kids 12 and over are welcome.

The variety of breakfast is a little lacking, but it is a small operation. Our suite was a bit funky, as you walked in through one king bedroom to get to the Living area. There was another king bedroom that was lofted and both have their own en suite bathrooms with a fabulous shower, set up, with a regular head, range, showerhead, and three body sprays. There was an issue one night, where there was a constant clicking, and being a musician. I measured it with my metronome, it clicked 42 time per minute. The manager and this person went on the roof themselves to try to discover the problem, along with her HVAC service, and found the issue, comping us one entire day. We will definitely try to stay at the same resort on our next trip, and will try to book far enough in advance to get the penthouse suites!

This place needs new reviews…read more I left the accommodations up to my friend for this last trip and I was a little nervous on what laid ahead based on Yelp reviews. I found both comfort and concern when I saw that all of the reviews were pretty old. I arrived with an open mind, this Inn is north... like really north! If you are looking for something closer to Sister Bay keep looking. If you're open to being away from the craziness and looking to relax this is a great location. We stayed in the mate room, and to be honest I would love for them to start telling guests they are going to be on the second floor and that stairs are involved. My friend had a hard time going up and down the stairs and we probably would've picked a different option had we known. Once inside there's not a lot of frills. Two coffee cups and some soap, that's about all you get. I was happy to see the water from my bed, and there are a couple of dining options within walking distance but that's about it up there. The beds were almost too soft, but as far as sleeping goes it did the job. The sauna was broken during our trip and we did not use any of the community spaces the Inn has to offer. Overall it seems a little pricey for what you get, but for the area it's not out of the question. I think for a small price they could really upgrade their experience.

I highly recommend The Harbor Light Inn when visiting Door County. The young man working the lobby this Memorial Day weekend was friendly and helpful. I understand that previous reviewers had some trouble here, mainly with wedding reservations, but it is new management from what I understand. Nothing about this place was worthy of less than four stars on this trip at least. Great job on all upgrades! We'll be back! PS-the "Great Room" was a very great place for a continental breakfast.

We stayed in a corner room upstairs. The room was very clean. The room had windows facing the bay for a view of the water and the sunset, a fireplace (which we didn't use), king-sized bed, a couch and an easy chair. We had plenty of room to relax. The inn has two gazebos with comfortable outdoor furniture and yard games. There's also a well-appointed great room with a huge fireplace, comfortable leather furniture and board games for gathering inside with friends. A continental breakfast was served each morning in a dining room where guests have separate tables. The breakfast was not your average continental breakfast. They had several types of delicious pastries that changed each day, fruit, juices, good coffee, hard-boiled eggs, toast, bagels and a meat/cheese plate and a fresh berry yogurt parfait on request. My husband especially liked the pecan pie bars and I enjoyed the blueberry coffee cake, rhubarb muffins and chocolate croissants. We overate daily! We had a minor issue with our AC on day two of our visit. The staff called a technician out immediately and the issue was resolved while we went about our day. The only suggestions I have for improvement is that the internet is painfully slow and the mattress in our room needed replacing--you can only get so far on a foam pad on top an old mattress.

Dorr is a lovely, comforting, modern hotel with the hot trendy Scandinavian vibe that's all the rage right now. Their open lobby is like a living room in a big beautiful home or lodge. Cozy fireplace with a bar on one side. Grab coffee or tea any time of day or night and relax by the fire, or engage in a jigsaw puzzle or game with your kids. The best part is that the location couldn't be more convenient. You can easily walk to shops, restaurants and the beach right across the street! The harbor is right there too so you can hop right over for your boating adventures. Chop, the steak house right next door is literally steps away. Famous Al Johnson's is a quick stroll (which is important to note since that place usually will form a line out the door early that lasts all day). We also enjoyed shopping, ice cream after dinner, bowling on rainy days, and Lure, the seafood restaurant (similar to Chop with emphasis on sea). Plus it's an easy drive into Ephraim, Fish Creek or Egg Harbor to enjoy what the other towns have to offer as far as shopping or dining. (I think Fish Creek has the best shopping. While my husband and sons are boating, that's my jam!) The hotel rooms all come with balconies or patios. There's a nice open courtyard with a fire table to enjoy later, or at happy hour (Chop next door has a happy hour, but so does the hotel bar). I think it would be cool if they brought a rolling bar outside for happy hour on the patio...Chop might not like that tho. The hotel rooms are padded with modern comforts one expects these days. Unless you or someone you know owns a cabin up here (which can be great too), why bother to stay somewhere else?

They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip.  They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme.  Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree.   The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived.  He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor.  When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha.  He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years.  The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas.  There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system.  A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested.  The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive.  Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out.   I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars.   The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently.    We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also.  I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here.  I really do like this place and the owner.
