This bowling alley is huge with 50 lanes inside, a pizza parlor, bowling shop, a billiards room and couple of bar areas. The setup is very much like a Brunswick Zone with same style of seating (chairs attached to the table) and electronic scoreboard. I came after 9p on a Wed night and the lady working the desk was very nice and there was no wait for a lane. You tell them how many games you want and pay before bowling. The lanes were nice and smooth. There was no issue with ball returns. There were plenty of balls available and they look like they have seen some things riddles with knicks and cuts, but they still work fine. You can bowl for as low as $1.50/game M-W night after 9p! Our car ended up braking down, and the mechanic for parkside lanes came and helped us out! Our car started no problem and he was very sweet and respectful! Thank you very much! I've been bowling at Parkside for as long as I can remember and I knew their place was very nice and now I know the owners are the type of people to give you their shirt off your back! 34 open lanes at least and the women tells us they dont have any open lanes. Apparently there was going to be a corporate party coming in, but they never said when. We were only playing 2 games with one toddler, so we'd only need a lane for half hour at most. Tells us we can wait and see if something opens up, but sorry with a sadden 3 year old not an option for us. Ridiculous! We will take our business ANYWHERE else. read more

The management is HORRIBLE here. Their website does not reflect the actual open bowling hours, and when you call to ask, the employees seem very annoyed and have even said to check the website (in which the hours are not true for open bowling). On top of this, my bowling ball has been damaged more than once from these lanes, and we have been told that there are no lanes available for open bowling when there are 30+ lanes not being used. Their house balls are scuffed and chipped as well. You get what you pay for when you come here. They need to hire a better manager of their website and things will start looking up for them. It's sad because I love the actual set up of the place. It has potential to be a completely different environment. read more

Me and my girlfriend have been coming here for the past few weeks and it's been super fun. For 2 games each and renting shoes it costs $28. So $5/game and $4/person for shoes. It's not that bad comparing to other bowling alleys. There typically isn't any wait time and the service has always been good for us. We will continue to come here. read more

Too expensive! We bowled here last Tuesday night, thought we'd get some practice here because we bowl on league here in the fall. At $5.50 a game (no break for league bowlers unless you're in a summer league) it was way too expensive. Shame on them for price gouging people! We went on a Sunday during the afternoon. I remember when you couldn't dream of getting a lane on a Saturday. No problem! It was 60$ for 3 people 3 games, so kind of expensive. We also played pool. Tables need attention, cue sticks warped but reasonably priced. Forget playing music, expensive! read more

On Thursday 11/9 I took my daughter to bowl 1 game before we had a school function. We walk in and there is a group of 15-20 taking up 8-10 lanes and the rest of the lanes were open, but lights off. I checked the website and for Thursday it listed games before 5pm at 5.50$ and games after 5pm 6.50. We walk into the check in counter and are briefly ignored before we make our presence known, and ask to bowl one game. We are told in a not kind manner that they just oiled the lanes for league bowling and we are not allowed to bowl. of the 54 lanes, maybe 10-12 lanes were being used. Fast math tells me that 40 plus lanes were open. The rude woman behind the counter that ignored us when we first walked in let us know the best time to come for open bowling was Mondays after three and before 6 when they offer a deal. If you are not in a league, do not bother approaching this facility to bowl as an individual group. It would have been a simple half hour for my daughter and I to bowl on a single lane, but that was too much and would have "ruined the oil" for the leagues. Hard Pass. read more

I give this place a five because it's been in my life as a go-to for a very long time. Nostalgia for me equals a five, I guess. Took my two year old here this past weekend for her first ever game. She loved it! They took care of us. You can't beat 2.50 a game. They didn't even yell at us when she ran down the lane after the ball. I had to chase her by running down the gutter. I'm sure they've seen it before - maybe 1-2 times a week, haha. I loved this place more when they had wood lanes back in the 90's. They were one of the last alleys to convert to synthetic; it saddened me when they did convert to synthetic. The wood lanes react better to oil and you don't get that old day bowling sound with the synthetic lanes. Anyways, 30 something reliving his glory days of runs at state bowling cups and such. Parkside is well kept, good prices and always staffed by competent fans of the sport. The pro shop is the only shop I go to when I need a ball redrilled or need a new ball. The pro in that shop is a great guy. For most, this is a run of the mill alley - for me, it's an unchanged daily reminder of my childhood. I'm sure it would be a 3-4 star for the critical, but for me it's always going to be a 5. read more

I am writing this review based on the lane waitress and the Tiffany's Cafe inside only (I just watch my man's league games.) Amy is absolutely the sweetest lane waitress and she is very skilled at what she does. She remembered what I like to order by my 2nd visit and always has it ready for me when she sees that I'm settled. She's very sweet, fast, remembers the little things, and had some great recommendations for food to try. Everyone remember to tip her good! The food from Tiffany's is really tasty, as well. Their pizza and appetizers are the best! The bill at the end was surprisingly small for how much food and drink we ordered, too. A whole delicious crispy-crust, seasoned pizza for only 6 bucks?? Your standard bowling alley. They could use more house balls thou, the selection when we got there was pretty low. One star off because of the bar rules. We had a group of 7, so my buddy and I decided to get the drinks because another couple got the games. Went up and ordered 3 pitchers and a couple shots so we could just have them at our lanes and not have to go back since it was getting late. The bartender told us that with two of us up there, we could get one pitcher. That was it. We pointed to our group that was over a few lanes down and were told others had to come up to get more drinks. Wasn't a fan of that . Otherwise, not bad lanes. read more

Once my bf moved to Montgomery, I figured our lives were pretty much over. I kid..but seriously, there is not sh-- to do and not only that, we have no one to do said sh-- with these days. Since we regularly frequented Bowling Green in West Chicago, we figured why not go bowling? And we did, several times. And it was okay. I feel like the teenagers here are fewer but make up for it in obnoxious behavior. So, that's annoying. Also, the food is not so great. The bathrooms are always really clean though and there's lots of parking sooo it's okay. That being said, there are lots of lanes and we can always get on right away. So long as you don't have the unfortunate occurrence of being stuck next to a bunch of super aggravating teenagers, it's a pretty decent place. Parking was good. Prices are high. And lanes are crowded at night. Their shoes need some updating, mine has laces that were so worn, they ripped when I tied them. The scoreboard was easy to use and the workers were nice. They have specials on certain days. This place is decent if you're just wanting to bowl with friends once in awhile. read more

I used to come here as a kid and throughout high school but hadn't been back since. My boyfriend and I decided to check it out because we thought the games were cheap at $4.00. First off the guy behind the counter handed me a pair of shoes with the side blown out (like a 3 inch hole in the side) and I when I pointed it out he didn't seem to care. I'm pretty sure those shoes went right back on the rack to try and give to another person. When we arrived we said two people for bowling and we wanted to do 2 games. Simple right? Not at Parkside! The older guy behind the counter then asked us if we wanted to bowl 2 games- 1game each for a total of 2. Or two games each for a total of 4. We just looked at each other confused as we had never been asked this before when bowling anywhere else. Usually 2 games means 2 games! So assuming we bought two full games we play out first and when it ends we had to go see someone at the counter. Apparently even tho it says on paper clearly $4.00 a game , it's $4.00 a game PER person which it doesn't say. We were annoyed by this and won't be back, better off at bowlero or somewhere newer anyways. read more

I am a frequent bowler at Parkside Lanes for the past year and I don't understand why these other reviews have been so critical about the alley. This isn't a pool hall and I don't know what people expect out of appearance, but if you're a bowler you will enjoy this house. Lanes are always in good condition. Great leagues, competitive but not off-putting, and well-run. The Pro-shop guy, Rich, has been super helpful to me personally and the staff is friendly. Beers are priced modestly and the pizza is decent. The place isn't in perfect shape cosmetically but the atmosphere and lanes are just right. All in all, if you take the time to get to know the crowd its a great place. I'd take this alley over the Brunswick Zone in Naperville any day. read more

The employees were probably the rudest people on the entire planet. When I went up to ask for a lane the lady was extremely curt and rude and basically yelled at me that I have to pay. Then I went to get food and the lady in the kitchen was turned around so I called out excuse me and she actually looked me in the eyes, didn't say anything, and went back to whatever she was doing. And then after standing there for 5 minutes she finally came up and told me that I was in the wrong window and pointed me to the end of a long line. This place was great! Took my son there the other day and not only did they have a large variety of ball sizes but we were able to get right it! The food was pretty good and we had fun! Great place to bowl. We have been over the years, as a family, just for fun. This past year, my youngest decided he really wanted to learn to bowl. I have been taking him for group lessons nearly every Sun. since early summer. He is on a junior league, and made his HS bowling team this past fall. He loves it, plus he has really improved. The pro shop may be small, but Rich can get you whatever you need. He is really helpful. Also, he is one of the pros that teach the lessons. He and Frank are awesome instructors. Every time I am her which has been 3 times the old fat witch behind the counter does not say hi and is completely unpleasant. Tonight I walk in with my family and walk to the counter. I say hello and the first words she throws up is "if you are here to bowl I don't have anything open till 930". Not for the serious bowler It could be a nice house, but when they allow open bowling before their 6:30 pm leagues, and don't put fresh oil down, it makes for a frustrating experience. If I am paying full league prices, I expect the house to spring for a nickels worth of oil. This place is fine to bumper bow on Saturday afternoon, but I will never join another league in the cheapskate house. read more

My husband and I like to go in the bar and gamble. We went to gamble tonight ( Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016) and had to leave. All was fine until the music was so loud and intrusive we had to leave. I put napkins in my ears and it still was really loud. My husband asked that the music be turned down and was told she could turn it down a bit. I like loud music but this was ridiculous. I don't think this is conducive to good business practice. Driving people out of the gambling area is counter productive. Shame on your employees. I don't think a business owner would be happy with losing good customers. read more

St. Anne Catholic Church had a family night bowling party May 15th 2011. We had 151 bowlers, the service was fantastic and we were really impressed by how efficient things were handled. If we have another party it will be at Park Side Lanes because it is the place to go. read more
