My wife is partial to banana fritters, so sometimes I'll pop in here to purchase a pre-emptive peace offering if I've stayed a wee bit too long in the British Oak. It's a fairly standard chinese takeaway in terms of how it looks - sparse interior, lonely counter, plastic menu, etc - but the food here is really cheap and actually very tasty (whether you are 4 pints down, or not).

I've found the food to be of varying quality, with some dishes very flavoursome and tasty, and some verging towards average, which is a shame. If I hadn't eaten lunch earlier that day, I know for a fact that I could have eaten much much more. But unfortunately, I'd become absolutely stuffed, damn! What isn't standard, however, is the quality of their food. I often find with Chinese takeaways in particularly that the food quality can vary from week to week, but the several times I've been in to Fortune Inn, it's been nothing less than fantastic. Better yet, if you're looking to eat out for less, they do an all you can eat buffet on Sundays for just £8.80 per person, which is extremely cheap, and the best price I've seen anywhere in Birmingham for a buffet of its kind.

Some meat on the bone, some sweet and sour meat and something meat in peanut sauce. That's a variety that I wouldn't have chosen left to my own devices. Tasty it was, too.
